Strongest Necromancer System

Chapter 561: Sagehood

Jason flexed his arm and made sure that it was fine before he looked up to see the Beast roaring in agitation as it tried to swipe Ragnar out of the air! Ragnar let out another massive blast of fire that slammed into the Beast's head, and Trigon came from behind and fired its own dragonfire into the back of the Beast's head and scorched its hair!

'We need to get out of here. I didn't think the Beast would have this much control over the elements. It's like trying to fight against an entire world at this point.'

Jason frowned as he looked around worriedly. Gina had finally stopped shivering in Jason's arms, but Jason could tell that it was only a matter of time before the cold got too much for her to bear! Jason's mind began to race at an insane pace as he tried to come up with a solution to this problem! The biggest issue right now was the fact that the Beast seemed to be coming after him personally for some reason! Maybe it was because Jason was the strongest being in this world, or maybe it was because Jason had been the closest to the Beast when it first arrived here, but Jason knew that as long as the Beast was this focused on him, he couldn't continue his journey!

BUUUUOOOOHHHHHH!!!

Up in the sky, the beast was already starting to get really annoyed by Ragnar and Trigon! It realised that the cold surrounding them was not going to be enough to freeze those pesky dragons, and it let out a deep bellow as it began to pour even more mana out from its body! The wind around the beast suddenly intensified, and Jason put his hand out as he prepared to use a defensive artefact to prevent the wind from carrying them away, but Jason was surprised when he saw Gina spread her hand out towards the wind. Gina had a look of concentration on her face, and Jason watched calmly to see what she was going to do! Gina knew that her power mainly focused on her ability to create wind from her own mana. Her wind wasn't natural, and there was always a part of her that understood that she wasn't really bonding well with nature, but at this moment, Gina decided that she had to try something new. Gina still remembered Farlow's words from when they were at the Stone Catacombs and how he told her that she had to become one with the wind if she wanted to grow any stronger, and Gina didn't know why she felt like this was what Farlow had been talking about back then!

As the intense winds suddenly shot towards them, Gina didn't panic at all! Gina took a breath to calm herself, and at the next moment, she pushed her hand to the side to make the wind flow around her!

WOOSSHHH!

"Ngh!"

Gina grunted as she felt some of the ice-cold wind slam into her body with intense force, but at the same time, she knew that this force wasn't as strong as what she had been feeling before, so she was sure that she was doing something right! Gina kept her footing, and she quickly tried again! Gina didn't bother trying to create any wind from her mana since she knew that no amount of wind created from her weaker mana would be able to counteract the wind created from the mana of a TITAN! Instead, Gina created a region around her and Jason that acted as a protective bubble, and she made the intense wind from the Beast continue flowing around them like they were inside a slipstream!

Behind Gina, Jason watched her work with a look of surprise on his face. Jason had decided to allow Gina to do what she wanted because he felt that she had come to some sort of realisation about how to handle her powers, and Jason had already been prepared to activate another defensive artefact if he saw that Gina's plans weren't working. But once Jason saw how easily she was managing to redirect the wind around her without using any of her mana at all, he realised that Gina had reached a new level of mastery!

[One of the user's subordinates has acquired the Unique Skill [Sage – D-Rank]]

[Sage: This is a unique skill only granted to mages who possess an overwhelming bond with a single natural element. These mages have dedicated their lives to the growth and understanding of this element, and as time passes, they will reach a point of understanding known as Enlightenment. As a sage grows through Enlightenment, they will acquire an even deeper understanding of their element and nature, and their bond with the element will eventually reach a point where they will completely synchronize their mana with nature and surpass the mana limitation placed on every mortal being. They will become a conduit for the will of the immortal expanse.]

[It is important that every mage understands the consequences that arise from the pursuit of this deep understanding of magic. Although becoming a sage will grant a mage an extraordinary mastery over one element, it will also prevent that mage from ever possessing an affinity for any other form of magic. A Sage's mana is uniquely suited for only one form of elemental magic; therefore, using any other form of magic will become next to impossible. To some mages, this is a worthy tradeoff due to the sheer power they will gain from becoming a sage, but to other mages, the penalty for never being able to use any other form of magic is not worth the benefits that come with sagehood.]

[In order to improve the ranking of the Unique Skill [Sage], the mage must gain a deeper understanding of their chosen element.]

Jason could feel shock pass through him when he read through everything the system had just sent to him, and he realised at that moment that Gina had done something extremely impressive! It wasn't normal for people to just take a step onto the road to sagehood, so Gina must have really pushed herself before she could reach this level to protect him! Jason felt an intense surge of gratitude as he realised this, but at the same time, Jason's eyes narrowed as he felt a plan immediately forming in his head! Jason was currently being protected by the wind bubble that Gina had created using her sage skill, so there was no wind hitting him at all, and this meant that he had some freedom to think freely! Jason immediately spoke to Gina.

'Gina, how long can you hold this skill for?'

Gina tried to keep her concentration stable as she responded that she didn't have any problem holding the skill. Gina wasn't using any mana at all, so the only thing she needed to do was make sure that her stamina and concentration were stable, and she could likely hold this skill forever if she needed to! But Gina knew that it was only a matter of time before she ran out of stamina since the winds were so intense, so she had to stay still to preserve as much energy as possible. Jason nodded, and he grabbed a Manastone from one of the Machina Generals that he had killed in the past and threw it in his mouth before he sorted out a plan and announced it to the subordinates.
