"But first please allow me to purify this lake first, then we can go somewhere more conductive to a long conversation? Does that sound okay to you?" Ivy asked of violet and Luna.
Not seeing any reason to turn that down both girls readily agreed. After all, the reason they had moved in this direction in the first place was to discover and hopefully eradicate the corruption that was growing here. So now given the chance to watch a Soverign do the same was an opportunity that neither of them would turn down!
With a smile Ivy then proceeded to slowly walk away towards the small lake.
It was only then that Violet remembered her friends! She quickly turned around and observed that both Rhyana and Susan were steadily getting to their feet. They both looked a little rattled after being subjected to Ivys presence, but seemed to be well on the way to recovery.
"Come on we should see if we can learn anything more about what she is about to do!" Violet happily exclaimed.
Already the void dragon had taken a liking to the Dryad. As a dragon she naturally had great instincts regarding people, and although Ivy was quite carful with what expression she showed during their short conversation. Violet had picked up on the subtle reactions she showed when she found out that Violet was the daughter of Moraznia.
Whilst she could not fully understand what the woman felt, she had seen enough to know that Ivy held nothing but respect for her mother, and as a result felt a level of affection towards Violet. This had settled the dragon and she consequently forgot the forceful way that they had first met.
Luna who was privy to Violet's thoughts had also picked up on some of these same reactions, shared the same oppinion. So after quickly making sure that Rhyana and Susan were okay, they both promptly headed towards the lake, soon catching up with Ivy.
Although Violet was wanting to ask more about her mother, she agreed that this was not the right place to discuss the topic, so she instead questioned something else that she had been wondering about.
"Hey Ivy, I have a question. Why is it that both me and Luna seem to be compelled to destroy any corruption that we come across. It has happened a couple of times now, and whilst I know that it is a good thing to do I don't really understand why my instincts seem to demand I do so."
"Hmm oh that is quite simple really. You are a Wild Dragon." She stated it like that would explain everything, but upon seeing the confused expression on both girls faces she chuckled and explained further.
"The Wilds are the natural enemy of corruption. And Wild Dragons, who are said to have been worn from the wilds themselves are particularly attuned to this fact. It is an age old battle. Corruption tries to spread and infect everything to become one with it. Whilst the Wilds fights back to return everything to its natural wild state."
Seeing that both girls at least understood the basics she continued. "You can consider the Wilds a kind of affinity or hidden Specialisation. Some beasts are naturally born with this, like dragons are supposed to be. But many other creatures can obtain it, much like you have dear." She said whilst gesturing towards Luna.
"The corruption is wielding by a select few monsters as their primary Specialisation. They they seek to spread its influence. Being that have the Wild affinity then work to counter the spreading influence." They finally arrived at the edge of the lake then.
Ivy gestured to the twisting darkness that was slowly spreading within the waters. "This is what my Order was created to do, we gather beings who are one with the Wilds and seal out and destroy corruption."
"How do you actually do that? Iv had to resort to just blasting it with lots of spells, is there a better way to do so?" Violet asked in curiosity.
"There is, do you want me to show you?" Asked Ivy with an impish grin. Getting two vigorous head nods in answer she chuckled. "Then watch closely and learn."
Saying that she then proceeded to slowly expand her presence. Directing where it was allowed to spread, focusing it entirely on the lake before her. Then once her presence blanketed the surface of the small lake, it began to decened, sinking into the twisting darkness.
Wherever her powerful presence touched a point of corruption an invisible battle broke out. Ivys indomitable presence tearing into the lingering corruption. However, she did not entirely eradicate the corruption, she left a small patch of it near the surface, she then turned to both girls who were watching her in awe. "Well would you two like to give it a try?"
Her words broke the girls out of their stupor and they eagerly agreed, both wanting to try out this new aspect of utilising their presences which were deeply seeped in the Wilds.
They took a moment to center themselves, expecting that it would not be quite as easy as what Ivy just demonstrated. Then they slowly allowed their presences to expand, their presences intertwining with each others as they expanded.
Ivy who was watching this with curiosity opened her eyes wide in shock. She had felt the traces of Violet's presence when they had appeared on the edge of the clearing, yet she had quickly subdued it with her own so hadn't gotten a propper look at it until now.
And what she felt made her heart beet rapidly. The purity of Violet's presence was truly stunning, the potential hidden within her along with her natural affinity with the Wilds was beyond anything that she had ever felt. This was true also for Luna, she was also shocking in turn with the Wilds, not quite to the extent of Violet but she still showed incredible potential and latent power.
Then the way that they effortlessly entwined their presences. Sure she had sensed similar things before, even done something similar herself with other member of the Order. Yet never had she believed that two presences could entwine and merge to such a degree.
All people held a sense of individuality, this would naturally clash with other beings presences. Even when they trusted one another, their would still be some small resistance. Yet, that was not the case at all with these two girls.
Nothing separated their presences. It was as if they had become a singular being. The level of trust in one another to enable such a thing, it was beyond anything she had even heard of.
Yet watching it happen before her very eyes, Ivy couldn't help but chuckle internally at the sight. Then shaking her head she focused on the task at hand, she would not allow them to loose in the battle against the corruption. She knew first hand what would happen if that scoured, she would not allow these two young ones to experience such a fate.
Violet and Luna meanwhile had no idea of Ivys current thoughts, for they were both focused intently on focusing their presences on the small spot of corruption. Whilst they had some experience in controlling their presence, and had already learnt to fully withdraw it from being felt by nearby creatures. Shaping it and directing it towards a singular spot was still quite the challenge.
Yet, together they focused their will, urging their presence to envelop the corruption and eradicate it.
Then, their presence made contact with it.
A shockwave of corrupting force viciously attacked their presences, the creeping wrongness nearly causing them to loose their concentration. Yet they persevered, they forced their presence to fight back, unwilling to give any ground to the vile corruption.
Their minds seemed to become one as they pushed their minds to their respective limits, slowly gaining ground on the corruption.
This small bit of corruption had been birthed by a powerful Terror, multiple powerful Terrors in fact. So although the creators had fallen, their lingering will still persisted, and similar to the two companions it was unwilling to loose to its natural enemy.
Yet what hope did this small piece of corruption hope to have when faced with both the Last Wild Dragon, The Primordial Void Dragon Violet and her companion the Primal Arctic Leopard Luna who was also seeped in the Wilds.
The answer? None.
Whilst it may have fought back with all its might, ultimately it stood no chance against the combined assult of the two companions. So with steady assurity they beat back and eventually overwhelmed the corruption. Eventually fully eradicating it and returning the lake to the Wilds.
