The Guy Who Tamed Chickens

Chapter 50: Mission Rewards

Kyson's words made Melody's face turn curious.

"Really? Do I really have that look on my face?"

Nodding, Kyson smiled, "Yeah, are you not aware of it?"

"I'm really not. This is the first time someone told me about it."

Melody looked thoughtful as she answered, seemingly contemplating about something.

Kyson didn't pay much attention to her reaction and said, "Well, it seems my impression of you wasn't right in the end though."

"The way you look now makes you appear like a normal shy girl."

Hearing that, Melody smiled and started chatting with Kyson.

After talking for a while, Melody suddenly said, "By the way, I want to thank you again for helping me at the potion shop before."

"Oh, that? It's nothing. No need to think too much about it."

To Kyson, it was just a matter of thought to stop the windblade that Presto conjured. Because of that, he didn't really take it seriously.

But just because he doesn't, doesn't mean that Melody also will.

Wearing a serious face, she looked at Kyson and said,

"Even though it's just a small matter that is not worthy of being talked about for you, that was my life you saved."

"For me, my life is very important. That is why I hope you will let me repay you for that life-saving grace."

Shaking his head, Kyson sighed, "There's really no need for you to repay me."

Seeing Kyson's attitude on the matter, Melody can see that she wouldn't be able to persuade him.

After a moment of consideration, she said, "Then at least let me treat you to a meal. I really wouldn't be at ease if I don't do something in return for you."

"So please don't refuse this one."

Melody is almost pleading with Kyson, making him feel soft for a moment.

In the end, he nodded, "Alright. I won't refuse anymore. But I hope it's nothing grand or expensive, okay?"

"Okay!"

After finally getting his consent, Melody immediately smiled and became happy.

With that resolved, the two of them felt much closer than before.

So while waiting for the jeepney to leave, they chatted about their experience today.

Most of the time, it's Melody who's talking. Telling her experience at the town wall, distributing healing potions to those injured personnel.

Since Kyson was mostly the one taking the brunt of the beast tide's attack, not a lot of people got hurt badly.

Thanks to that, a lot of healing potions are still left on Melody.

When they were at the potion shop earlier, she originally wanted to give it back to Grandmaster Virgo, but was refused.

The healing potions and the space ring was given directly to her by Grandmaster Virgo, saying that it'll be his gift to her.

Because of that, she's holding quite an amount of healing potions right now.

While the two of them were chatting, time passed by and the driver soon got inside the jeepney.

Turning to look at the two of them, the driver smiled and said, "The two of you are the only passengers again this time. It seems the three of us are really fated."

He chuckled and sat down on the driver's seat.

"Anyway, you two, we're about to leave. Are you sure you didn't leave anything behind?"

""Yep, there's nothing.""

"Alright then, let's go!"

The driver started the jeepney and it soon started moving, heading out of Vitri Town.

Feeling the jeepney moving, Kyson and Melody finally became quiet.

Then leaned back on their respective seats and closed their eyes to rest for a moment.

Just like that, the jeepney traversed the path back to Porac City under the orange glow of the setting sun.

By the time they arrived at Porac City, the sky was already dark and the sun had descended.

The jeepney went on for a while and stopped right outside the Adventurer Agency.

"We're here now in Porac City!"

Hearing the driver's voice, Kyson opened his eyes and looked outside the window.

Since the Adventurer Agency is located at the city center, a lot of people could still be seen outside.

From the direction of the Adventurer Agency, a lot of people could still be seen going in and out.

After taking a quick look, Kyson stood up and glanced on the side.

Melody had also gotten up and was stretching her arms a bit.

Without paying much attention to her, Kyson headed out of the jeepney.

"Thank you for the safe ride, man!"

"No problem, no problem!"

Waving at the jeepney driver, Kyson walked towards the Adventurer Agency.

"Kyson, wait for me!"

Behind him, Melody's voice sounded and her rapid footsteps grew closer and closer.

When she finally got beside Kyson, she finally slowed down.

Turning her head to Kyson, she frowned at him and said,

"You didn't even think of waiting for me."

Kyson raised his eyebrows and said, "The agency is not that far though."

"Plus, you still caught up to me."

Melody rolled her eyes and stopped paying attention to him.

Seeing her acting like that, Kyson shrugged and the two of them continued on their way to the Adventurer Agency in silence.

"Good evening, how can I help you?"

Standing in front of the reception window, Kyson handed over his ID card.

"Hello, I want to hand over the completion of my mission."

"Okay, sir. Please wait a moment."

Taking his ID card, the receptionist swiped it on a silver stone and started typing on the computer.

After a while, the receptionist handed back the ID card.

"Thank you for waiting. Here's your ID card."

After that, she grabbed a box from under her desk and pushed it to Kyson.

"Here's your reward for your mission, sir. The points have been transferred to your ID card well."

Kyson took the box and thanked the receptionist, before consciously moving away from the reception window.

He looked around and found an empty public seat.

After he sat down, Kyson placed the box on the table and opened it.
