Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 261: The two children

Ved took a step forward. He was glad Naledi was no longer the ice cold walking machine she turned herself into.

However he got worried when he saw her stroking the child of winter. He could feel the coldness radiating from it body.

However when he looked closer he realised her hands were fine as if the cold was not effecting her.

On the contrary, her own coldness seemed to drown out the coldness from the child of winter.

He still marveled at her power. He took another step. " Naledi let go of it, it's dangerous."

She looked at him with confusion. " Why? He's just a child, just a lonely and scared child, he needs my help, he needs our help."

He shook his head. " That's the child of winter Naledi, a dangerous child of herald of plagues."

She smiled gently at him. " I know." He sighed " Then.." she cut him off. " But he wasn't always.

He was just a little child not long ago, stolen from his parents and forced to do all of these atrocities, it's not his fault."

Ved got confused, " What do you mean?" He understood what she was saying but it made no sense.

The child of winter wielded strength rivaling his, if what she's saying is true then that would somebody granted it that strength.

But that should be impossible, you can't just give somebody strength that surpasses their own rank, it was incomprehensible to him.

" Can you not hear it, his screams, he's in agony my love, so much agony, shhh shhh, I'm here now."

Ved came closer and wrapped his body around them as if to shield them from the cold even though they were the source of said coldness.

His massive head rested next to her, she leaned on him. He felt her solf skin against his scales and a feeling he hasn't felt in a while came back.

Peace, he felt peace when she was there. " Tell me, how can I help?" She looked at him gently then reached out and gently touched his face.

She smiled at him softly, her beautiful smile made his heart shake. However he also noticed something about her.

She had changed, to be exact she had changed back to her former self before he died.

She was gentler and the way she addressed him reminded him of the old days, he couldn't help but relax and let his guard down.

She continued stroking the child of winter's fur. Pure white fur but Ved could see tiny black spots on it.

These were dark particles. " I can remove all this coldness in his heart but I cannot do anything about the darkness in his mind."

She said with a bit of sadness. " Leave that to me." He knew the darkness she was talking about was the dark particles.

He knew he could remove them and he was mostly resistant but he wasn't exactly immune to them so he planned to have a clone absorb all of them.

He didn't know if it would be enough though to absorb all of the dark particles out of a child of a herald with only a clone.

Not to mention he didn't know if this will kill the child of the herald or restore them to their normal selves.

While he was contemplating this his other avatar found the bringer of doom. She was sitting in what looked like a farm in Russia.

He landed behind her and drew close. She turned and looked at him then touched her chest.

" It's hurt." A tear fell down her eye. " I don't know why but it hurt so bad, I feel like there's a hole inside me."

He took another step towards her. " Is this place important to you?" He asked. She looked around with confusion.

" I don't know but it hurt less when I'm here." Then a teddy bear flew out of her robe and floated Infront of her.

" That's yours?" She shook her head. " It..I..I can't remember, why can't I remember? No no no no please don't take this from me, give it back."

She grabbed her head and started pulling out her hair. " Stop, I won't take it so please stop."

However she didn't listen and instead grew more frantic. " No no no, please bring it back, bring it back to me you can't take it, you can't take her."

The last part caught his attention. " It's okay, I won't take it see." He took a step back. " Let me help you."

Suddenly she stopped then raised her head and looked at him with her pitch black eyes. " Help?" She whispered softly.

" You won't help me, nobody ever helps me, nobody except her." Suddenly the landed decayed rapidly and crumbled around her.

Ved jumped back. " Stop, I can help, I promise." She started pulling out her hair again.

" Liar liar liar, you won't help you won't help, you didn't help before you didn't help before, nobody ever helps."

Suddenly a storm of dark particles exploded out of her. Before he could react the entire land around then had turned into a domain of death and decay.

Rocks crumbled into dust and the dust turned so dry it became fine powder. The air itself felt stale and poisonous.

Ved found himself standing in a region of pitch black powder that stretched for tens of kilometres around them.

Suddenly the black dessert below them shook. Out came insects, all types of insects from ants to beetles.

Countless insects all lunging towards him like flying carpets. Some took to the sky and blotted out the moonlight.

Ved knew this was going to be a hard a fight, the insects came coming out of the black dessert like it was a well.

However it didn't end them because after the insects came out rats, then frogs, an endless flood of them.

He looked at her. " I do not know who you are I will not lie to you but I know what you are and I promise, I can help if you just let me."

She raised her head. " Liar, he told me you are a liar, you do not care about me, only he does."

Ved's attention was piqued. " He, who is he?" He asked " Father." She replied.
