With two Healers working together, Xavier's injuries were healed in no time. As for the internal ones, Aegon gave him a High-Grade Healing Potion, so in just a few minutes, Xavier was back to good health.
"Now, spit everything out."
Before Xavier could say anything, the door slammed open once again, a loud voice accompanying it.
"Yo, little brother, miss me?"
Of course, the intruder was Cali. Dressed in a white shirt half-tucked into her trousers, an arm guard wrapped around her left arm, and her beautiful blue hair dancing wildly in the air, she looked breathtakingly beautiful, almost annoyingly so.
Her eyes shone brightly upon spotting them as she laughed, "I didn't think I'd find both of my brothers here."
"Welcome back, Cali!" Aegon smiled lightly and said, "Why do you look beautiful?"
Cali knocked on his head before slumping down beside him. "I'm always beautiful. As for this attire, my last mission was babysitting a noble girl, so she dressed me up a little."
"There's more to it."
"Shut up!" Cali waved her hand dismissively, turning toward Xavier, who had been silent till now. "And how did you mess up this time?"
"You think I only mess up?" Xavier snorted, thoroughly annoyed.
"You always have that face whenever you mess up," Cali said matter-of-factly. "So, what did you do this time?"
Xavier hesitated for a moment before beginning.
"I was in House Verdant, the House sponsored by the Mage Association. Today, I witnessed some senior students pressuring a junior into signing an unfair contract. It basically bound him to them for life. If he didn't sign, they were going to kill him."
Cali and Aegon listened attentively. They were well aware of House Verdant, since it took in the majority of Healer Path students. It operated similar to the Mage Association, which protected all mages and served as the middle ground for most of their official work.
Every House needed healers, and for that, they relied on House Verdant. That was how the House gained such prominence, and naturally, Xavier chose to join them.
Healers alone were weak, after all.
"Apparently, they did this to students with no background. Exploitation at its finest. I couldn't stand it..."
"And you jumped in the fire to help the newbies," Aegon sighed. "I really wonder if I should smack you for being stupid or pat you for being a good human being."
"What happened next?" Cali asked, her eyes narrowing in displeasure.
"They beat him up. When healers want someone to feel pain, it's really the worst," Aegon said, glancing at his friend. "But it isn't all, is it?"
Xavier lowered his head, sighing. "Yes, they made me sign the resignation form. Since I volunteered to leave the House, I'll have to pay a large amount of Merit Points as compensation, and the House leaders will also be displeased, so they won't hear me out at all."
"Decent plan!" Aegon commented dryly. "They basically saved their asses while also earning Merit Points. Didn't they try to make you sign that shitty contract?"
"They did, but I'm not that stupid," Xavier scoffed and said, "I used your name."
Aegon nodded in satisfaction, as he genuinely wanted his friends to rely on him when needed.
Even those students were smart enough to understand they shouldn't push their luck. If they really forced Xavier into such a contract, Aegon would have used even his family connections to take revenge.
But this was different, especially since there was no proof of anything.
'I don't need proof though,' Aegon thought coldly.
"Good!" Cali said, standing up as she cracked her knuckles. "Now, you two sit here while I deal with some matters. Just because I've been busy with missions, these fuckers actually dared to bully my brother."
"Cali!" Aegon called out sharply before she stepped out. "As much as I also want to smash them, it'll backfire on us."
"What do you mean?"
"House Verdant has connections to every House. If we attack them without any legitimate reason, all Houses will turn hostile toward us," Aegon explained calmly. "The House Leaders will also be against us. All because we have no proof."
"What about that newbie? Can't we take her as a witness?" Xavier asked.
"You really think it'll work?" Aegon shook his head. "It'll just look like we're framing them. They'll twist it easily."
"Aegon, just tell me directly how I can take revenge?" Cali asked, her eyes blazing with fury. "I didn't work hard all these years so my family could be bullied by random nobodies."
"Oh, we are taking revenge, Cali." Aegon grinned coldly. "I'm not letting anyone involved off the hook. We just need to use legal methods."
"Gon!" Cali's voice turned razor sharp. "Stop playing around with words."
Aegon laughed and stood up. "I already told you, we'll beat them legally."
"I don't understand. Wouldn't all the Houses turn against us that way too?" Xavier asked in confusion.
"That's the thing. I don't give a damn about being public enemy, but that doesn't mean we can break Academy rules for it," Aegon explained. "If we break rules, the Houses can force the Academy to expel us."
"So as long as we don't give them a reason to attack us through the Academy, we're fine?" Cali asked, raising an eyebrow. "That'll be hard for me."
"Why do you think I stopped you?" Aegon rolled his eyes and suddenly paused. "Wait… we're all independent now."
"Hmm? Yes?" Cali blinked in confusion.
"Well, I just found the best way to take revenge," Aegon said, grinning widely. "And it's all legal."
"What is it?" Xavier asked, suspicion clear in his eyes. "I'm part of it, right?"
"Of course you are, idiot," Aegon said, circling his arm around his neck. "We're going to thoroughly humiliate them before everyone."
"You're going in circles again," Cali pointed out.
"Hmm, let's gather everyone first, then I'll explain my plan," Aegon said. "But before that, I need this dumbass to understand his mistake. We can cover it up now, but what about the future?"
"I'll always be there for that," Cali stated firmly, showing her stance. "Even if he's dumb, he's my brother."
"Cali!" Aegon's voice turned sharp. "Why can't you both understand the responsibility he has? Unless he drops out from taking the throne, he can't continue like this."
Xavier lowered his head in shame.
