My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 553: The Look of Youth

Si Bao didn't know what Xiao Bao was up to, so she asked, "Xiao Bao, where are we going?"

Xiao Bao glanced to the side. "Let's go! Grandpa, give me a hug."

Lin Dashan was surprised. Xiao Bao had actually taken the initiative to ask him for a hug.

"Oh, my little granddaughter, let Grandpa give you a hug!" he cooed. "Did you miss Grandpa? Grandpa missed you too!"

Blinking her big eyes, Xiao Bao asked, "Grandpa, a hug comes with a red envelope, right?"

Lin Dashan was taken aback. "Ah, a red envelope too?"

Xiao Bao pressed, "You don't have one? You didn't prepare any?"

She had no idea that all the red envelopes were prepared specifically for her. Nearby, San Bao quickly explained the situation to Lin Dashan.

"So that's what this is about! No wonder you came to me for a hug," Lin Dashan said with a laugh. "The red envelopes are with your grandma; let's go get one from her."

Zhou Cuilan, who was chatting with Zhao Lizhen, simply handed a red envelope to Xiao Bao without question.

"Xiao Bao, happy first birthday!"

Xiao Bao replied sweetly, "Thank you for the red envelope, Grandma!" Her little eyes lit up. "Wow, this one is so big!"

This red envelope was thicker and heavier than any she had received before. Everyone couldn't help but laugh at how much of a little money-lover she was.

"Let's go, Fourth Brother! We have to find other people," Xiao Bao declared.

"Alright!"

And so, Xiao Bao began her little enterprise, absolutely delighted with her haul of red envelopes.

Meanwhile, Zhou Cuilan and Zhao Lizhen were discussing the upcoming wedding between Lin Jie and Wen Xiaoya, scheduled for the New Year. The engagement had been settled last year and the betrothal gifts delivered; all that remained was the wedding itself. The main task for Lin Dashan and his wife this year was to renovate the apartment Lin Jie had bought in high school. The renovation plans were designed by Lin Jie and Wen Xiaoya, with the elders just needing to supervise the work. The apartment had been simply renovated and then rented out, but they took it back after the New Year. The major renovations began in March and took the better part of a year. Next month, they would start buying the appliances.

To ensure their son and future daughter-in-law were satisfied, they bought all the home appliances from their own direct-sale stores. The items were delivered to their doorstep, and they were in charge of supervising the installation. The new home would be ready to move into in about four months, at which point they would test for formaldehyde.

By now, Xiao Bao's business for the day was over, and she lay tiredly in Lin Feng's arms.

"Daddy, Xiao Bao got so many red envelopes today!"

San Bao snickered from the side. "Everyone who hugged Xiao Bao had to give her a red envelope!"

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "That's because today is your first birthday. It's a very special occasion, and everyone came to celebrate, so they brought you birthday gifts."

Xiao Bao seemed to understand, yet not quite. "Why does it have to be my first birthday? Can't it be another one? Will I get red envelopes when I'm two?"

Lin Feng shook his head. "You only get them when you turn one. Because after that, it means you're becoming a little adult!"

Er Bao came over. "So a little adult should get down and walk on her own!"

Xiao Bao pouted. "No way. Daddy's arms are so comfy, and so are my brothers' and sisters'…"

As the guests arrived one after another, the first birthday banquet officially began. The theme was entirely pink, making for a very girly atmosphere. A slideshow on the stage displayed photos of Xiao Bao from her birth up to her first birthday. There were candid everyday photos and artistic portraits, every single one capturing her happy, adorable smile. Watching the child grow from a newborn to a one-year-old made everyone marvel at how quickly time flew. It felt like only yesterday that Zhang Yuxi was pregnant. The quadruplets seemed to have just started babbling. The elders sat together, sighing with emotion. Life was getting better and better, and they were getting older and older.

The highlight of a first birthday celebration was, of course, the *zhuazhou* ceremony, where a baby "grabs their future." Thinking back to the quadruplets' ceremony, the items they had chosen had more or less proven true. It seemed there was some accuracy to the tradition after all. This time, they had prepared a vast array of items for Xiao Bao, and everyone was eager to see what she would pick.

Lin Feng set Xiao Bao down, allowing her to choose any item she liked. If a child grabbed several things, the one they played with the longest was considered their true choice.

Xiao Bao walked over, looking here and there while the audience watched with curiosity, careful not to make a sound that might influence her. She picked up one item, examined it, and put it down. She did the same with another before she finally chose a bank card.

This particular card, Lin Feng's black card, had been placed in plain packaging to make it look like an unassuming piece of plastic. Placed among a dazzling assortment of items, it had no presence whatsoever. Lin Feng's reason for putting it there was to test Xiao Bao. He wanted to see if she could find her favorite black card among so many other things. Zhang Yuxi had even bet him that she would never find it.

When Zhang Yuxi saw her daughter pick up the card, she was a little shocked.

But maybe she's just looking at it, she thought. She'll probably put it down and choose something else, just like the others.

To her surprise, after Xiao Bao looked at the card in her hand and unwrapped it, she saw that it was the black card. She happily ran over to show it to Lin Feng.

"Daddy, I found your card! It's Xiao Bao's favorite!"

Zhang Yuxi spoke softly, "Xiao Bao, there are other things here. Don't you want to look at something else?"

Xiao Bao showed no interest at all. "No! Xiao Bao likes this one! Only this one!"

Zhao Lizhen covered her mouth with her hand to hide a smile. "Xiao Bao is definitely going to be a little money-lover in the future!"

Zhou Cuilan nodded. "You can already tell!"

After the ceremony ended, an exhausted Xiao Bao fell into a deep sleep in Lin Feng's arms. The hotel had guest rooms available, and San Bao, who didn't like noisy crowds, took her little sister upstairs for a nap.

That evening, the birthday banquet lasted until well past nine. Lin Feng had already arranged rooms for their relatives. After seeing everyone settled in, he took Zhang Yuxi and their children home. After waking up from her nap, Xiao Bao was full of energy. She was even singing, babbling away happily. She played until late into the night before finally lying down on Lin Feng and drifting into a deep sleep.

It was the start of their second year of high school.

The quadruplets had already studied over half of the curriculum during their summer break. With their outstanding grades, they were crowned the school's official beauties and heartthrobs.

Er Bao and San Bao each had their own unique charm. San Bao's beauty was truly exquisite; it was hard to imagine a girl could be so stunning. Er Bao's beauty, however, was the kind that grew on you. You'd find her pretty at first, but she became more and more beautiful the longer you looked.

Ultimately, in a poll on the school forum, San Bao beat Er Bao by a third of the votes to be officially named the Campus Belle of Yangcheng No. 5 High School.

As the Campus Belle, San Bao couldn't care less about such a superficial title. In fact, it only became a source of many frustrations for her. For instance, countless boys came to confess their feelings. They secretly sent her flowers and gifts and constantly tried to get her contact information. Some even bought Er Bao's design pieces as a pretext to ask for San Bao's number.

Although Er Bao and San Bao were in the same class, their experiences were worlds apart. It wasn't that Er Bao wasn't beautiful; she was just considered slightly less stunning when compared to San Bao. Nevertheless, she still received many flowers, chocolates, and small gifts every day. She would take both her and San Bao's bouquets, arrange them in vases, and bring them to the teachers' office or place them on the classroom podium to add a splash of color. As for chocolates, the sisters received enough to feed all the girls in their class.

The saying goes that when one girl in a dorm starts dating, her snacks can feed all her roommates. These two could feed their entire class!

The single teachers were green with envy.

Kids these days are really on another level, they thought collectively. They're so skilled at this sort of thing. If only we had half their game, we wouldn't still be single.

But while they were envious, they also felt that this was exactly what youth should be about. After all, whose youth wasn't like this?
