My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 554: Little Bao's Early Education Class

The four treasures went to class, while Zhang Yuxi was busy at the school. Lin Feng, meanwhile, was contacting the early education center that the four treasures had previously attended.

The person in charge back then, Teacher Wang, was now the manager of the Yangcheng branch. She had such a strong impression of Lin Feng as a parent that she found it difficult to forget him.

"Wow, a second child! What a blessing!" Teacher Wang was a mother now too, with her own child already in elementary school.

She squatted down in front of Xiaobao. "Little one, what's your name?"

Xiaobao said with a smile, "My name is Lin Xiaobei."

There wasn't much thought behind the name. The idea was simply that her nickname would be Xiaobao and her given name would be Xiaobei. Together, they sounded like 'baobei,' which means treasure.

Teacher Wang nodded. "That's such a cute name! Hello, I'm Teacher Wang! Your older brothers and sisters used to take classes here, you know."

Xiaobao's eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Of course! We even have photos here!" With that, Teacher Wang pulled out an old photo album and began to search through it. "Found it! Look, these are your older brothers and sisters."

Lin Feng came over for a look, and memories of the past flooded his mind.

Xiaobao let out a "wow." "It's really them! This is Eldest Brother, and this is Fourth Brother…"

Having seen them in the family photo albums, Xiaobao quickly and accurately identified each of them. She was very curious and began to feel a fondness for the school.

Lin Feng enrolled Xiaobao in a class, and as it happened, there was a session that very afternoon.

In the classroom, Xiaobao sat in her seat and gradually began to mingle with the other children. The other parents also took the initiative to come over and greet Lin Feng.

"Is this your daughter? How old is she?"

"One year old."

"One year old? She's so tall!"

"She has a good constitution and grows fast."

Xiaobao was not only tall but also chubby and incredibly lovable. The children here were all around one year old, with the oldest being only a year and a half. Yet, Xiaobao was already as tall as the older toddlers. She was growing even faster than the four treasures had. Because of this, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi had even taken her for a check-up, but the results showed that everything was normal.

If you told someone she was only one, nobody would believe you.

Here, Xiaobao easily became the center of attention, which was different from the four treasures, who were good at blending in. Xiaobao didn't have to do anything; other children would just come over to play with her.

I wonder if it's because Xiaobao is so chubby and tall that the other children think she's the boss? Otherwise, look at this—a little girl is already offering Xiaobao her toy.

"This little rabbit is really fun. You can play with it."

Xiaobao took it, smiled, and said politely, "Thank you!"

Another little boy took out his Ultraman figure. "This is Tiga. Do you want to play?"

Xiaobao shook her head. "Not interested. I don't want to play!"

The kids gathered around Xiaobao, sharing their things with her as if they were offering up treasures.

Lin Feng watched her every move silently.

His daughter was absolutely, one hundred percent, a drama queen! For instance, she clearly didn't like the toy she was just given, but she pretended to enjoy it. It was hard to believe that a one-year-old could already understand the nuances of social etiquette.

As long as you didn't provoke Xiaobao, she was very easygoing. But if you did, her temper… tsk, tsk, tsk.

Soon, a female teacher, whose surname was also Zhang, arrived. Because she shared a last name with Zhang Yuxi, Xiaobao felt an extra bit of fondness for her.

Teacher Zhang smiled. "Now, let's have the new friend who has joined our family introduce herself, shall we?"

Some children were shy, others were confident and outgoing, and some couldn't speak clearly.

Xiaobao stood up, a smile on her face. "My name is Lin Xiaobei, my nickname is Xiaobao, and I'm one year old."

Teacher Zhang, still smiling, asked, "So what do you like to do? What toys do you like?"

"I like to play, and I like money!"

Teacher Zhang asked with interest, "You like money? Why do you like money?"

A one-year-old child typically has no concept of money. In all her years of teaching, Xiaobao was the first to say she liked it.

Xiaobao looked at Teacher Zhang in surprise. "Because money can buy the things we want! If we don't have money, we can't buy anything, and we'll starve to death."

Teacher Zhang nodded in agreement. "That's right. And who told you this?"

"I figured it out myself."

"Wow! Have you figured anything else out?"

Xiaobao thought for a moment. "Lots of things. Too many to say!"

Teacher Zhang's gaze shifted to Lin Feng. "Can you tell the teacher who he is?"

Xiaobao looked baffled. "He's Xiaobao's daddy. Teacher, don't you already know that?"

Uh oh. From that tone, Teacher Zhang felt like she was being looked down upon.

Teacher Zhang smiled. "Yes, I do, but the rest of us don't know Xiaobao's daddy. Could you introduce your daddy to everyone?"

Xiaobao seemed confused, as if wondering why Lin Feng couldn't just introduce himself.

She said, "Oh. He's my daddy. His name is Lin Feng."

"Daddy is a super-duper amazing cook…"

"Is that all?"

"Daddy is very rich. Xiaobao can buy whatever she wants!"

"Anything else?"

Xiaobao tilted her head, thought for a moment, and then shook her head.

Lin Feng didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

So, in Xiaobao's eyes, besides being a good cook, he was just a rich guy? He actually had many other good qualities, like being handsome and gentle…

For a one-year-old child, Xiaobao's answers were already quite impressive.

Teacher Zhang let Xiaobao sit down and announced the day's lesson: "Object Recognition."

It was really just sorting building blocks by shape. After Teacher Zhang explained the different shapes, she had the children in the class sort a scattered pile of blocks.

Xiaobao didn't need Lin Feng's help at all and even pushed his hand away.

"Xiaobao will do it herself!"

Lin Feng had no objection. "Alright, you go ahead!"

She sorted them in minutes, while the other children were still only halfway done.

Partway through the lesson, Lin Feng got a call.

"Xiaobao, Daddy has to step out to take a call. Will you be alright by yourself?"

Xiaobao was busy trying to untangle a knotted rope and, perhaps out of frustration, simply waved her hand to dismiss him.

Lin Feng was still worried. "Xiaobao, if you need to use the bathroom, tell Teacher Zhang. Daddy will be right outside."

Xiaobao nodded perfunctorily.

By the time Lin Feng finished his call and looked through the classroom door's window, Xiaobao was in the middle of a tantrum. Teacher Zhang was squatting beside her, saying something, while Xiaobao pouted and refused to speak.

Lin Feng went inside. "What's the matter?"

Teacher Zhang smiled faintly. "Xiaobao says her hands hurt from untangling the rope."

The other children, with help from their parents, had gradually managed to undo their knots.

He squatted down. "Do your little hands hurt? Let Daddy see!"

Xiaobao pouted, putting on a pampered air. "Daddy, blow on it, okay? If you blow on it, it won't hurt anymore."

Lin Feng looked at her chubby little hands. They were indeed quite red, so he quickly brought them to his lips and blew on them gently.

"Does it still hurt?" Lin Feng asked.

Xiaobao shook her head. "Not anymore!"

She hugged him. "Daddy, this is so boring. I want to play with the robot, go on the swings, and drive the little car."

Lin Feng was puzzled. "Why do you find it boring?"

The four treasures had so much fun with this back then.

Xiaobao mumbled, "I just think it's boring…"

"Then how about Daddy plays with you?" Lin Feng offered. "Is it still boring even with so many other children to play with?"

Xiaobao nodded. "Daddy, can we go home, please?"

Lin Feng was speechless.

Xiaobao squinted. "Xiaobao is so sleepy…"

Again, Lin Feng was speechless.

Xiaobao had a nap before coming here; it was ridiculous to think she was sleepy again! She's usually full of energy in the afternoon. This has to be an act. This little girl is a terrific actress!

Teacher Zhang whispered to Lin Feng, "Did Xiaobao not have a nap?"

Lin Feng shook his head and tried to coax his daughter. "Xiaobao, Daddy wants to play a game with you. How about we finish the game, and then we can go, okay?"

Teacher Zhang chimed in. "That's right! Playing a game with Daddy is so much fun!"

"We have lots of other interesting and fun games coming up. Don't you want to join in with your daddy?"

Lin Feng nodded eagerly. "I want to play!"

Xiaobao looked at Lin Feng and sighed. "Alright then, I guess I'll play with you."

Then, in a perfect imitation of an adult, she added, "Honestly, you're just like a child, still wanting to play games!"

Lin Feng was speechless.

He felt it profoundly then, that it didn't matter if they were an adult or a child—a female's thoughts were truly difficult to fathom. He thought that after raising four children, he would have some experience. But when it came to Xiaobao, all that experience in dealing with kids, beyond providing food and clothing... was this it? This was all it amounted to?
