The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 110: 110 Demon Sword Nanming

In ancient times, on the primordial land, where human traces were scarce, various demon beasts and ferocious birds prevailed.

The first person to attain the Dao observed the heavenly Dao, acted upon it, established the Way of Heaven to govern mankind, began to educate the ministers, and established cities, gradually moving from tribes to nations, and then from nations to dynasties.

Emperor Jun, a saint from the East who attained the Dao, was revered as the Divine King by countless nations and tribes. He governed his people in accord with the Heavenly Dao and also led them in defense against the attacks of various savage beasts of primordial times. He did not merely slaughter the aliens; with his supreme divine power, he tamed hundreds of birds and commanded thousands of beasts, even allowing demon beasts with a certain Dao level to serve as officials under his command, becoming ministers.

Many years after him, another formidable figure emerged from the East, named Chi You.

Chi You, shallow in Dao but advanced in art, had no interest in astronomy, geography, medicine, and astrology, focussing solely on the distinction between humans and demons. He could transplant tiger claws and bull horns onto human bodies, and human heads and hands onto beast bodies, fiercely unmatched. His followers included various tribal nations and the seventy-two cave demon kings, along with countless demon beasts, sweeping across the world, invincible.

Other nations and tribes were no match for Chi You. The Yellow Emperor initially could not defeat him, facing consecutive defeats, until the Nine Heavens Xuan Nu imparted the astronomical Yi Shu to him, enabling him to steady his footing and turn defeat into victory.

Shi Feiyang conjectured that the three volumes of the "Chi You Three Disks Scripture" might each focus on different aspects; the Geng Kun brothers primarily obtained the methods of human-demon cultivation. Moreover, the two volumes in the hands of Master Hongyun and the Red Corpse God Monarch likely focused on other parts, which he could only guess the general direction of.

He had been cultivating in this roaring wind cave for many days, comprehending the Dao, refining his cultivation, practicing various spells, and successively refining Magical Treasures such as the Nine Heavens Yuan Yang Ruler, the Circulation Hunyuan Umbrella, and the Yu Ding.

After a long time, Shi Feiyang planned his next move.

Descending from this wind cave, traversing the earth's core, he was currently at Shanyin. From the earth's core pathway to Shanyang, there was an extremely formidable leader of the Mystics Yin Sect, Evil Corpse Gu Chen.

Gu Chen had dominated the world since the Eastern Jin period, dueling with Master Changmei, Jile Perfected, and Elder Kuzhu. Just before Master Changmei's ascension years ago, he killed him with the Seven Sword Heart Execution. Since he was about to ascend and had no time to completely kill his Primordial Spirit by sacrificial refinement, he sealed him underneath Lingyu Cliff at Mangcang Mountain, and also sealed his used Green Rope Sword there. The unruly Green Rope Sword needed to be tempered by the yin evil at the earth's core. In the future, when his disciples came to slay Evil Corpse Gu Chen, they could also retrieve the Green Rope Sword.

Shi Feiyang calculated that if he now went and woke Gu Chen, with the Magical Treasures in his hand and power to traverse the earth's core, he would not lose to the opponent. However, he still could not completely annihilate him. The Green Rope Sword could be obtained, not just the Green Rope Sword, the Purple Ying Sword too according to the descriptions in the books and his calculations. But the Purple and Blue Double Swords had been in Emei's hands for several hundred years, and the Green Rope had been used by Master Changmei; going for them now, not to mention that Hua Yaosong guarded Lingyu Cliff, even if he got them both, the Emei Sect would immediately seek him out desperately.

He estimated his strength; unable to defeat even one of the three immortals of the East Sea, if two of the older immortals ganged up on him, he would definitely be utterly defeated.

He restrained his desire for the Purple and Blue Double Swords and set his sights on another sword, the Nanming Leaving Fire Sword.

In Shu Mountain, there were countless Immortal Swords; almost every cultivator had one. Counting from the top, in terms of power, the first was Purple Ying, the second was Green Rope, and the third was the Nanming Leaving Fire Sword.

The Nanming Leaving Fire Sword had been refined by the Zen Master, Dharma Master, from the Buddhist tradition. Before Dharma Master crossed the river to Shaolin Temple, he gathered True Gold from the West and gathered the essence of Southern Li Fire within the Liang Dynasty; melding material into non-material, then from non-material back to material, he repeated the process nineteen times. It contained the essence of mutual generation and overcoming between the acquired and the innate; it specialized in conquering all evil demons and weird treasures. Holding it for exorcising demons was always successful.

After Dharma Ancestor crossed the river and reached Shaolin to face the wall, he attained the marvelous essence of the highest order of Buddhist teachings, realizing enlightenment with a mindset of no laws outside of oneself, without attachment or form. He originally wanted to destroy the sword to prevent others from seeing it as a treasure and inciting greed.

The last disciple, Master Guiyi, felt it was a pity and repeatedly requested to keep the sword as an extraordinary treasure for those destined in Buddhism to use for vanquishing evil and suppressing demons.

Dharma smiled and said to him, "You have studied the highest teachings, yet you cling to these trifles. If you are without evil demons, what evil demons are there? You talk of leaving it for the destined, who then is destined? It is you who are destined!" Having said that, he entrusted the sword to Master Guiyi.

Later, Guiyi Monk, wielding this sword, vanquished many evil demons, but unbeknownst to him, the sword eventually became a fixation in his heart. Reliant on the sword for suppressing demons and inclined to use the Flying Sword whenever he encountered a demon head, he grew attached to it over the years he carried it. Unable to penetrate this state with his capabilities, unable to let go, his Buddhist fruit could never reach perfection, always flawed, and thus the sword ultimately turned into his inner demon.

Until at last, he ceased using the sword and also refrained from employing any demon-suppressing mana, with great wisdom, immense tolerance, and extraordinary courage, he overcame the tangible evil with intangible righteousness. It took him nineteen years to achieve perfection in his cultivation, and only then did he completely rid himself of this "Sword Demon," as the Nanming Leaving Fire Sword separated from his body and became an external object.

Master Guiyi used divine mud to seal the sword firmly, employing Spirit Talismans as prohibitions around it, and hid it within Snow Mountain, intending to leave it for the Daoist sect for someone destined, before moving on to eternal bliss.

In the original text, later, this sword fell into the hands of Yu Yingnan from Emei Sect's Er Yun San Ying.

Shi Feiyang, wishing to obtain this sword, had to consider the Buddhist concept of karma, which wasn't too difficult to handle; the Buddhists regarded it as an "external demon of the heart," no longer desiring it. Dharma Master intended to destroy it, and Zen Master Guiyi passed it on to the Daoist sect, considered abandoning it.

Next was the Emei Sect, but Master Guiyi never specified it was for Emei Sect, only for those destined. So, according to Yue Wen, whoever obtains it is destined.

Shi Feiyang carefully calculated for a while, finding that the Nanming Leaving Fire Sword was in Great Snow Mountain, and inside the mountain were several top-tier monks and nuns, who likely wouldn't bother with this abandoned Buddhist item. Yu Yingnan had not yet been born, and the Emei Sect was fully preparing for their second swordfight with the Wutai Sect. This sword, unlike the Purple and Blue Double Swords once used by Master Changmei, would not attract immediate attention. As long as he acted quickly, the Emei Sect wouldn't have time to react immediately, and they wouldn't persist afterward for fear of ridicule from their peers and losing their status, unable to lead the Mysterious Sect in the future.

With his plan set, he silently cultivated for over a year in the Wind Cave, accurately timing his emergence, employed Escape Skills, and headed directly for Great Snow Mountain.

There were too many top experts of the Shushan World in Great Snow Mountain, on the summit of Yuxu Peak in Qingjing Ravine was Master Cang, a peer of Li Jingxu, there was Great Wisdom Zen Master, a reincarnation of a Great Arhat under the Tathagata from the West, and Master Ren of Xiaohan Mountain, whose relationship with Xie Shan remained ambiguously unclear, along with other less renowned but also formidable individuals.

Shi Feiyang used the technique of "Reducing a Thousand Miles to a Pocket," cautiously concealing his form as he stealthily flew past, aware that to those true masters, no invisibility technique was effective. For example, Yan Yingmu could spot Qi Shuming from a thousand miles away while he was traveling using Invisible Sword Escape...

The so-called Great Snow Mountain had many peaks stretching beyond two thousand miles.

Shi Feiyang meticulously calculated the positions, carefully searching from one peak to another. As he was passing over a valley, a group of foreign monks below was practicing spells.

This valley was particularly unusual, surrounded by towering snow peaks and pervasive ice mist, yet inside, it was warm like spring with red flowers and green grass. The valley was circular, very spacious, with an exit to the northeast, narrowing and twisting a few times, resembling a seashell from above.
