The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 59: 059 Carefree Palace

Shi Feiyang flew near the sea island, startling the sea birds and sea beasts; the ones with low Dao levels scattered in panic, while a few great demons with high Dao levels steadied themselves. A woman with black feathers and wings on her back approached him, "Which wild dragon are you from, daring to run amuck in Roc Bay?"

Shi Feiyang said, "I… am a disciple of Geng Peng the Feathered Daoist. I've come by his last wish, to see Uncle Master Geng Kun."

The woman exclaimed with surprise, staring at Shi Feiyang for a closer look, then said loudly, "Stay here and wait; allow me to go in and report!"

The black-feathered woman flapped her wings and flew away, her speed incredibly fast, heading straight to the highest peak in the northwest direction of the island, where a palace rested. Moments later, she returned to let Shi Feiyang follow her inside.

From afar, the palace did not look very large, but, as he approached, it was evidently majestic—splendidly built with two golden gates at the front, each adorned with a golden bird statue atop, and behind, there were gold courts and jade pillars, with colorful glaze tiles glistening under the sunlight.

Inside the great hall, Shi Feiyang met Geng Kun, who looked almost identical to his younger brother, Geng Peng; both had faces like sculpted jade and eyes like shooting stars, exuding an overwhelming handsomeness. Both had wings on their backs; the first half of their legs were bright red bird claws. However, they wore slightly different clothes, Geng Peng in a white robe and Daoist skirt, while Geng Kun wore a green lotus-leaf Daoist skirt. Also, the arrangement of feathers on their wings varied in length.

The two brothers' demeanors were quite distinct—Geng Peng's temperament was kinder and brighter, but Geng Kun gave off an air of criticism and disdain.

Sitting on the elevated Golden Winged Throne, Geng Kun looked down at the Black Dragon, "Are you the black dragon that my brother saved?"

"Yes," Shi Feiyang answered cautiously, unsure of his temperament.

"Although this matter is already well-known throughout the world, what evidence do you have to prove that you are indeed that black dragon?"

Shi Feiyang presented thirty-six Golden Feather Divine Feather Arrows, "Before Master passed away, he entrusted his golden feathers to me…"

Before he could finish, Geng Kun beckoned to call the golden feathers over to him. Shi Feiyang had reforged these feathers, and he could have prevented them from moving to Geng Kun, but he chose not to interfere, letting the feathers fly away.

"Indeed, these were naturally part of him. These golden feathers are still alive, containing his lifeblood. If they had not been willingly removed for you, they would have perished even if forcibly taken," Geng Kun said while grasping a feather, tears welling in his eyes but his tone still cold, "How daring of you to have reforged these golden feathers into your Flying Sword Magical Treasure?"

Shi Feiyang replied, "Before passing away, Master said he was giving these golden feathers to me."

"Hmph!" Geng Kun snorted coldly, "His Qiankun Bag is with you as well? Hand it over!"

Before coming here, Shi Feiyang had made some calculations for himself, guessing based on the Gua Xiang that it was very likely he couldn't keep Geng Peng's possessions. He had organized the Qiankun Bag in advance. Upon Geng Kun's demand, Shi Feiyang spat out the Qiankun Bag.

Geng Kun took the Qiankun Bag from afar, briefly inspected it, "Have you touched the things inside?"

Once again Shi Feiyang admitted, "Master said all his belongings should be passed down to me."

"Humph!" Geng Kun let out an even louder snort, "These items belonged to my brother, they are the possessions of our Golden Feathered Winged Tribe, they must not fall into the hands of outsiders!"

Shi Feiyang nodded in agreement, offering no rebuttal.

Seeing his compliance, Geng Kun calmed down considerably, "What did your master leave you with before his passing?"

"He said that he would take his revenge himself, and also told me to come to Roc Bay to seek refuge with you, to study the 'Chi You Three Disks Scripture' from you. Oh, and he mentioned that you don't have the same temper as him, and warned me to be careful around you."

Geng Kun wanted to snort again but held back, choking up before his eyes reddened: "That does sound like something he would say."

"That crafty fox, Baoxiang is hiding in Yellow Mountain, about to give birth. Zhuge Jingwo has already undergone Soldier Disintegration to reincarnate, and the Red Flower Old Demon has returned to Guihua Mountain and closed its doors, vowing not to emerge. These three's vengeance can't be taken for now. I have calculated the few calamities in their lives. When the time comes, I will bring you along to seek revenge for my brother. During this time, you must cultivate diligently and not let down your master's expectations!"

With a wave of his hand, "My brother used to widely accept disciples, having seven direct disciples under him and three hundred more beyond that, with countless registered disciples. Those disciples later met with calamities one by one and died one after another, completely wiped out. It has been several hundred years since then, and no more disciples were accepted. Now that I have accepted you, his Carefree Palace will be yours to reside in. However, you must remember, without my command, you are not allowed to leave and cause trouble. If you disobey, you will be subjected to family discipline!"

Shi Feiyang left his Chuitian Palace, confirmed the directions, and flew straight to another mountain peak to the east of the island. It was slightly shorter than the peak where Geng Kun resided, called Fuyao Peak. By his estimation, it was over three thousand zhang high. Carefree Palace was situated on it, not as magnificent as Geng Kun's Chuitian Palace but more exquisite. A spiritual spring was diverted to form waterfalls around it, decorated with colorful windmills and musical water wheels, as well as several pavilions, terraces, and towers, which were unconnected since Geng Peng had wings and they could all fly.

Shi Feiyang, still in a daze, had somehow inherited this palace. He sat cross-legged on the marble-paved ground, still somewhat bewildered.

As a newcomer, he kept his words to a minimum and observed as much as possible.

First was to explore Carefree Palace, which consisted of two palaces, six halls, and thirteen platforms. There were places for alchemy, artifact refining, for cultivating while facing east, and even grislier ones designed for performing surgery on people and hybrids. Everywhere were traces of Geng Peng's existence.

Behind the sleeping chamber was a secret passage that led underground, stretching all the way down to the seabed. There was another palace underwater left by ancient immortals. Geng Kun's Chuitian Palace also had access to that place, where he usually cultivated. Although Shi Feiyang, being of dragon lineage, enjoyed water, he did not venture there.

Cultivators possess mana, and higher levels of mana allow more freedom, even to the point where spoken words can manifest reality. This was different from mortal kings whose power necessitated more attendants; Geng Peng loved his freedom, and thus no servant waited on him in the palace. Not even the peak of Fuyao Mountain saw any disturbances from others.

Shi Feiyang gazed outward to see that not many in the sky were like Geng Kun, winged bird-hybrid beings. Most were bird demons, some with heads shaped round and others with strange human arms emerging from their chests. The same was true for the demon beasts below.

After more than ten consecutive days of observation, listening with dragon ears and observing with dragon eyes, he rapidly gained a deeper understanding of Roc Bay.

The Geng brothers were fond of breeding hybrids; above and below the waters of Roc Bay were all sorts of odd shapes and forms—dragon human hybrids, bird human hybrids, bear human hybrids, mermaid hybrids, snake human hybrids, and others with seals, sea otters, lizards, and apes...

Normally, these creatures would be reproductively isolated and incapable of yielding offspring; however, either one of the pair had become a demon, or some special conditions were met, such as inhaling certain herbs beforehand. While such occurrences were rare, after the Geng brothers had gathered them for a millennium, the number of these half-human half-beasts seen by Shi Feiyang alone was over three thousand.

Besides human hybrids, the rest were all kinds of enlightened beasts and demons, who had attained some level of cultivation.
