Crowne, Daisy, Lina, and Sylvara were eating together, the four of them sharing a meal. They were having quite a good time, even though at first Daisy and Lina did not like Sylvara's presence there.
But after observing Sylvara's behavior, they felt that Sylvara was more interested in meat than in Crowne. She was very busy ordering food until she finished dozens of portions of meat.
Daisy and Lina exchanged glances. Of course they were surprised.
"Where does all that food even go?" Daisy muttered.
Lina lifted both of her shoulders. She did not know how many portions Sylvara could eat. Sylvara had already eaten thirty portions and still did not show any signs of being full.
Lina scratched her head. She shook it in disbelief. Then she looked at Crowne, ignoring Sylvara for the moment.
"What will you do after this?" Lina asked.
Crowne stopped eating. He looked at Lina. Crowne stayed quiet for a few seconds before answering.
"I will go to the central adventurers guild. I have to deliver the relic given by Dorian," he replied.
Lina nodded. "Do you need us to take you to the central guild?"
Crowne shook his head. "No need. You want to meet your younger sister, right? Send her my regards. If there is time, I will visit her."
"Ah, yes."
Lina looked slightly uneasy. She even turned her head to the left, not looking directly into Crowne's eyes.
That made Crowne curious. "Is something wrong? Do you need my help?" he asked.
Lina quickly shook her head. "No need. I am just impatient to meet our sister. It has been a very long time since I last saw her. It... makes me feel a little awkward."
Lina's face turned red from embarrassment. She and her sister, Balista, had not seen each other for almost five years. Since childhood, their younger sister had been taken by a noble family in the capital.
More precisely, their younger sister had been sold by their father because he needed money to continue living.
"This makes me feel a bit anxious too. How should I say it..." Daisy scratched her head. She looked confused about how to describe it. "It is like meeting a lover you have not seen for a long time. That mix of longing and confusion becomes one. It makes your chest feel strange."
Lina nodded, agreeing with what her older sister said. The two of them seemed to support each other.
They only had each other. Just the three of them, because their mother and father were already dead. As siblings, they were supposed to support one another.
Crowne, seeing that, felt happy. A family should be like this. It was very different from what happened in his own family.
His arrogant younger brother who always looked down on him. His father who did not care. His mother who was still a mystery. Crowne's family life was truly strange.
"Do you need money to buy back your sister?" Crowne asked.
Lina and Daisy immediately shook their heads. They refused the offer. Troubling the person who had saved their lives was something they felt was extremely inappropriate.
It would be dishonorable and simply something they should never do.
"We still owe you our lives. So we do not want to owe anything else," Daisy added.
Crowne nodded and put away his pouch of gold coins. Crowne was very wealthy. He received a huge payment for defeating the King Kraken, even though that was not true.
Even so, Crowne was still considered the one who defeated the King Kraken. Besides that, Crowne had a lot of gold from selling beasts. And the biggest amount came from the gold inside the ancient tomb he found earlier. Seventy percent of Crowne's wealth came from that place.
"Are you sure? I do not feel troubled at all," Crowne offered again.
Lina and Daisy shook their heads once more. "Thank you for the offer, but we have to refuse."
After that, they continued eating. When they finished, they went to a playground. There were many games they could play there.
They enjoyed all of it, except Sylvara who was still busy with her food.
Eventually, eleven at night arrived. They returned to the inn and went to their own rooms.
**
The next morning, when Crowne left his room, he did not see Lina and Daisy downstairs. He knocked on their door, but there was no answer.
"It seems they already left," Crowne said.
He went down again, had breakfast, and afterward immediately left for the central adventurers guild. He walked there on foot. The distance was not too far, only twenty minutes of walking.
When he arrived in front of the central guild, Crowne was amazed by the huge building. It was very different from a branch guild.
It was not like a house, but like a palace. The building was massive, with a garden, tall and sturdy fences, and guards at the entrance gate. It truly resembled the residence of nobles.
"Isn't this a bit too much?" Crowne muttered.
He felt that a normal building was enough, but it was not his business. He walked toward the two guards, handed his identification card, and was immediately permitted to enter.
Just as he was about to walk in, Crowne turned back. "Do you know someone named Ruth? Can I meet him?"
Both guards frowned. They looked at Crowne from top to bottom several times. They still did not answer Crowne's question.
Instead, they asked back, "Why do you want to meet Lord Ruth? Who are you?"
Crowne was slightly surprised by their response. He thought Ruth was just an ordinary guild member. From their reaction, Crowne realized Ruth held a high position in the adventurers guild.
"There is something I need to tell him. This is a request from Guild Master Dorian," Crowne replied.
The two guards still looked doubtful. They inspected Crowne again from head to toe. Then they asked Crowne to show his identification once more.
After checking it, both guards looked at Crowne again.
"Who exactly are you?" one of them asked.
Crowne scratched his head. "Am I not allowed to meet Ruth?"
"If it is not something important, of course we will not allow it. Lord Ruth is too busy for trivial matters," one guard said firmly.
Crowne could not mention the relic because that information was only meant for Ruth. It was important and should be secret.
Although he had told Rick about it earlier.
Suddenly, Crowne remembered something. He took out the token given by Dorian and showed it to the guards.
"This is the sign of my request. Is this not enough?" he asked.
The guards narrowed their eyes. After realizing it was an authentic Stromhall guild token, both of them scratched their heads awkwardly.
"Hahaha," they laughed.
One of them stepped forward and showed respect toward Crowne. "Come, I will escort you!"
Crowne looked at the token. "Oh, this is really useful."
