"Gun control?"

The Boss looked puzzled for a moment, and then a faint light flickered in his crimson eyes.

"Oh, you mean how I use those little toys of mine?" He asked him, and a prideful grin appeared on his lips.

"What can I say. I've been gunning since I was 12, and now I'm 42."

"You're gonna be good if you spend a lot of years doing the same thing, you know." He said, taking the cigarette from his lips as he exhaled a cloud of smoke.

He reclined on the corner of his railings, bringing out a box of cigarettes and lighting one for himself.

Huuuuuu,

He exhaled, and Everlearn froze at the man before him, watching his image change.

From a man, he became a woman.

A woman exhaling white smoke from her lungs, a relieved, peaceful smile spreading across her face."

"Who are you again?" he asked, and the image was broken.

"That's not really important," Everlearn said, and the boss's eyes flashed.

With his cigarette held in his lips, his hands instantly brought out his two handguns and pointed them at Everlearn, who quietly sat up from the ground.

CLAAANK

CLAAANK

The sound of metal raining down echoed as the boss's eyes furrowed, watching as the bullets he had fired at him all of a sudden began to pop out.

His skin pushed the bullets out; even the one that had lodged inside his forehead was pushed out, his skin healing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

In less than five seconds, all that showed he had shot the one before him were the holes that riddled his shirt.

All his injuries, which were nothing but slight cuts, had healed perfectly, leaving no scars behind.

Everlearn dusted his chest off, turning behind to find the boss who had his gun pointed right at both his eyes.

"That would sting and get me mad..." he said, and the boss's finger twitched on the trigger but didn't fully press it."

"And if I get mad, you'll be dead, and I would still be perfectly fine. Honestly, that's not a good way for a man like you to go."

Everlearn said, and the man's expression wavered before he sighed and lowered his hand, keeping the guns in his coat.

He had fired more than ten shots: two at the boy's chest, two at his neck, and one on his forehead.

And yet they had simply popped out of him with no visible harm done.

Even if he fired at his eyes, it surely wouldn't kill him.

And if he indeed got mad, there was nothing he could do to hold him back, meaning he would be the one dying in the end.

As fast as that, one thing had been made clear to him:

Even though they both were Corers, the young man before him was far beyond him...in physical power, that is.

"To think I would already be forced on the back foot without even getting hit once, huuuu," he exhaled a puff of cigarette smoke after, as Everlearn sat on the railings at the side.

"What do you want?" he asked, getting straight to the point, and Everlearn didn't bother with any more probing.

"I want this war to end... now."

Everlearn said, as the boss hummed deeply before turning to the side, looking at his sniper still on the ground.

"Well, there is the gun. You can pick it up and shoot us all to death."

"There, you've got what you want..."

He suggested.

"I'm glad you know I can do that, but my boss said I can only kill five people....unfortunately, and you all are more than thirty."

Everlearn replied with a helpless shrug.

The Boss paused, his brows quivering from disbelief, before.

HAHAHAHAHA...COUGH...COUGH!

He laughed out loud, choking on the cigarette smoke that billowed out from both his nose and mouth.

"That's... that's a really good one...I..COUGH...admire that," he said with laughter.

The boy didn't say some of the bullshit he expected, like

'That won't stop the war,'

or

'That will only stop the war temporarily, and it will eventually come again,'

or

'He saw no point in killing since they were all capable of reasoning.'

All of that official bullshit!

He was straight to the core:

'I can't kill more than five of you, business protocol.'

Nice. Really nice.

"You're not from around here, are you?" Everlearn asked, looking at the man.

He didn't even speak the Lorianor accent.

More importantly, he was a W-grade Corer, armed with a high-grade Mecha Missile sniper weapon and two handguns worth tens of thousands of Nvdollars.

That wasn't something a local boss thug of a small area could possess.

Most likely, just like him, this 'Boss' was a Corer sent by another organization.

"I'm not really. I'm an underling...like you," he said, and Everlearn didn't deny.

"But our aims seem to differ, though,"

Everlearn answered, and the man's face broke into a subtle, knowing grin.

"Why are you here again?" he asked, and Everlearn replied.

"To stop the war."

"Ahhh, right. My mission is the exact opposite..." he said, and light crossed through Everlearn's eyes.

Without the boss noticing, Everlearn let go of a tiny, speaker-like Nano ball, which broke down into invisible particles and floated toward the thugs' location.

Countless possibilities raced through his mind, hypotheses discarded as fast as they appeared, replaced by new ones at supercomputer speed, until his eyes suddenly lit with understanding.

"You seem to have come across something?" the man asked, noting the light in his eyes.

"You're the one who orchestrated the war, the one who killed one of the workers of the company, allowing the company to bear their sharp maws on the thugs in the area."

"And you've allowed this to go on without a truce by making yourself the thug's boss?"

He replied, and light crossed the man's eyes.

"That's smart, but you're only half right," he said, as Everlearn's brow furrowed suspiciously.

"Come on, I'm not the one who orchestrated the war." He said, noticing his suspicion.

"You think a man like me with gun skills like mine is interested in some dumb little fight with a group of smelly thugs and some engineers?" he asked, and Everlearn's brow furrowed.

"You were sent by an organization, but... why?" he mused, and the man smiled, leaning closer lightly before he whispered.

"Ever heard of stocks?"

"Stocks?"

"Like the stock market, a company's value crashing down, shooshooshoooo, or sometimes rising, hahaha, ahaha, and if you're able to bet which is which....BOOM!"

"You get cash from thin air..."
