All of a sudden, the sound of a blade piercing through the air echoed, and the laugh was automatically silenced.
The Boss's eyes widened in horror as he looked down to find a blade piercing right through his mouth, cutting out from the back of his neck, and nailing onto the rubble behind him.
"AH… AH…"
Blood streamed down his lips as he choked on it, his eyes blazing red from the agony.
The veins ruptured one after another, and tears of blood spilled freely.
In his last moment, all that filled him was the desire to see the one who had brought his end.
A man of crimson-red hair, dressed in a coat of red with such high collars that half his face was covered.
One of his fingers was raised at the place where his lips ought to be, signaling him to be quiet, as he quietly watched him die.
Those crimson eyes contained nothing in them, not even the slightest ripple of emotion, as he slowly dug the blade deeper into the Boss's neck, ending him faster.
Life soon left the Boss's eyes, and when it fully did, the blade was yanked back before a blinding crimson light flashed through the world.
THUMP
A head rolled onto the ground, tumbling across the floor before coming to a stop, blood spurting from the severed neck.
____________
At the first ray of dawn, Everlearn was already out.
He moved through the quiet streets of Lorianor, heading straight for the car park.
It didn't take long before he found a ride bound for Lumint.
It took a couple of minutes before the bus, carrying a total of seven passengers including him, finally began moving.
As expected, it was a very long journey, and instead of the seven hours of travel he had estimated, it had actually taken nine full hours to arrive at Lumint Park.
He had entered the bus at 7:00, and now it was 4:00 PM. But that was great as it meant the Nighttime was nearer.
He didn't even need to search for the Mechara Organization's exact location in Lumint.
There was already a gigantic structure whose tips almost reached the clouds, and in front of it was a Mecha holographic display with Mechara Main Base (II) written just beneath it.
That was the official symbol of the Mechara Organization.
With Everlearn understanding where it was, he moved in that direction, taking a sudden swerve into an alleyway.
The air flapped faintly, and in the next moment, a figure silently appeared on the rooftop of a building.
It was none other than Everlearn who moved closer to the edge, observing everything below.
About 25 kilometers from the Mechara Main Base, there was already a toll gate that allowed only specific cars to enter.
Each car was stopped and checked for something, a simple black card, before it was allowed in.
He was quick to notice that not all the cards were the same.
There were three: black, red, and green, each allowing entrance.
But it wasn't just that.
Atop the gates, there were cameras hidden in the wall so perfectly that it was almost impossible to notice, but Everlearn could see them.
Every action and movement was being monitored.
And what was worse, this was only the beginning.
Exactly ten kilometers later, they passed another toll gate, and five kilometers before reaching the Mechara Organization, armed guards were already patrolling the area.
Judging by their size and body shape, they weren't ordinary human guards but full Corer guards.
'Three layers of security before one can even reach the revolving glass door of the company. Tsk, talk of an evil organization's caution.'
The Mechara Organization's Main Base was a Mecha research facility closed to the public and accessible only to authorized personnel.
That might have been their official justification for the extreme security, but Everlearn didn't buy it.
More likely, just like in Elloscious, they were hiding something dirty.
The cars weren't just coming in; they were leaving also, and the sight of that made Everlearn's eyes gleam.
He had already found a way to get through the security.
He observed everything patiently, memorizing every detail, and when it finally reached 9:00, he faded away from his spot.
___________
"Your Mech IDs, please?"
The words reverberated from an armed guard to a black SUV vehicle.
At the driver's seat was a chubby man in his late forties, wearing an official black suit, his big stomach bulging over his seat.
With some difficulty, his hands reached into his coat and pulled out three cards.
He quickly drew the green one out.
"Here you go."
He said to the armed guard, who collected it and slid it over a side scanner.
The guard nodded before handing it back to the chubby man.
"Have a safe ride, Mr. Lontan…"
The guard said as the man chuckled, taking back the card.
"Appreciated, Sir."
He drove the car forward, going through one more checkpoint where he brought out the red card before he was finally out of the gate.
The instant he exited, his hand went to his suit, undoing the buttons, and his already sizable stomach spilled over the seat.
"Ahhh, another hard day of slaving away, tsk."
Lontan clicked his tongue sorely as he continued his drive.
There was a short distance to cover before reaching the main road.
Going straight would take more time, so he made his usual choice.
To take a faster way through an alleyway.
It actually cut the time to join the highway by half.
Tires screeched as he took a sharp turn, and Lontan accelerated down the street.
His expression shifted when he noticed a person had suddenly stepped onto the road, barely ten meters away.
"Holy SHIIIII!"
He cursed out loud as he slammed both legs onto the brakes.
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!
BAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!
