The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 248: Night Attack (1)

He thought I wouldn't be able to tell he was hiding his assassination-like skills, but just judging from how silent his footsteps are, I can tell he's been trained in that field.

"Is… Is that why you ordered us to stay here? You were aware this entire time?"

"Maybe…. Anyway, you should try using louder footsteps the next time you're around people. Normal people most likely won't notice, but we definitely noticed,"

"Thank you for your guidance,"

And soon, night came.

I was planning on just following back, but upon seeing them arrive at our camp with explosives in tow, I knew we needed to act fast.

I quickly slipped through the night and left a trail of icy wind to follow behind me, allowing the others to track my path.

While I went ahead with my much higher speed, I noticed they had already placed an explosive down and lit the wick without hesitation.

Clearly, they hated us for some reason, so I was going to get an answer out of them, whether that be through beating them half to death or torturing their family.

BOOM

The first explosion opened up a gaping hole in one of the barracks, allowing a duo of night elves to slaughter a few of my soldiers, but my soldiers quickly comprehended the situation.

My soldiers aren't just your regular everyday fodder… no, they're perfectly trained for any type of situation.

Not only did I personally see this through, but the empress also helped out quite a bit.

They quickly fought back and even created a wall between the gaping hole and the dark elves, causing them to be slaughtered… but this was just a distraction… and it was a good distraction, in fact.

Almost everybody at our base came running to not only fight back against the other dark elves who revealed themselves but also put the fire out, which was spreading from the explosion.

Thankfully, the snow was helping keep the smoke and ash at bay, but what I was really worried about were the people who managed to slip past me and get to my quarters.

I don't think they noticed me, but I sure didn't notice them until they revealed some of their bloodlusts.

"So… they want to kill my maids? Pfft… Good luck," I snickered before making my way over to my cabin and hiding behind a large tree.

I kept myself at bay for now until they began to fight because only then would I be able to fully reveal myself.

I'll just use my maids to see what their skills are, but from what I can tell, they aren't anywhere near my level.

And just like I thought, they didn't even realize my maids had slipped out of the cabin and appeared behind them, their respective weapons pressed against the assailants' necks.

There were three maids and three assassins, the perfect match-up.

I did feel some others waiting around, ready to jump in, so I made sure to keep my eye on them while also spectating the match in front of me.

Just as my maids brought their blades against the skin of their necks, the assailants seemingly teleported behind them, forcing them to block once again with their respective weapons.

My maid of death used a scythe, my maid of flames used a spear, and my maid of ice used a beautiful crystal sword which I kind of wanted.

They duked out for a bit with my maids struggling against their teleportation-like movement, but from what I could tell, it was just them slipping into the shadows and reappearing in a different spot.

My maids were too pressured to notice this, though, so I decided to take care of the other spectators while I was waiting for this fight to end.

SHING SHING SHING SHING

After only a few minutes, I tossed four heads to the ground and covered them in a thick layer of snow.

The wolves could get rid of them for me, so I didn't really need to worry about scaring my soldiers too badly when they find a few corpses just hanging around the base.

And when I looked back at the fight, I saw my maids crouched on the ground, breathing heavily as they tried to stop the bleeding with a few ointments and medical supplies.

"You good?" I asked all of them before flicking my fingers.

The snow beneath each body carried the three dark elves to me, who was just barely left alive by my maids, who knew what I wanted.

"Yes, ma'am," All three of them replied but clearly… they weren't.

[Aurora Borealis]

Suddenly, what seemed to be the northern lights coated them, easing them into a softer situation as their pain was through the roof.

They had thousands of cuts due to the dark elves previously toying with them… but once my maids got serious, the entire fight flipped on its head.

Once each of them absorbed their own weapons, coating them in their own respective elements, not even the dark elves who were insanely fast could keep up with them.

"Why'd you hold back if you knew I was watching?" I chuckled, and the exhausted maids who were feeling the drawbacks of absorbing their weapons could only smile.

"We wanted to impress you," My maid of death squeezed out after a few minutes of me resting beside them.

But, suddenly, one of the dark elves coughed up a mouthful of blood, and I saw the others move their jaws.

Krkkkkkk

My ice quickly froze their outer jaw and then slipped between their lips, freezing the inside of their mouths and even a bit of their throats.

"Tch… forgot to check if they had poison slipped into their gums… alright, whatever," I shrugged before enveloping the now dark elven corpse with ice and shattering him with my fist.

The other two elves looked with terror-filled eyes, dreading my next move.

"Forgive us… we… we should've checked," My maids apologized, but I just ignored them as I inspected the strange armor of these dark elves.
