"Tell me, did Marco kill my mom and dad?" Amy asked in a cold voice, stepping down from Dylan's back and keeping the pistol pressed to the bespectacled man's head.
"P-princess... Mr. Marco did that for the good of the fami—"
"Stop stalling! Did he kill my mom and dad?" Amy yelled, cutting off the man in glasses, who had his hands raised.
The man didn't answer but nodded slowly as his reply. Amy then walked in a circle to face the front, so she was now pointing the pistol at his face.
"Give me your smartphone," Amy demanded, holding out her hand.
The man immediately took out his smartphone. Amy opened it and looked at his chat history.
"Please move aside, my husband," Amy said in a chilling voice.
"Yeah, alright," Dylan replied, moving and standing next to Amy, also pointing his pistol.
Amy took a video of the man in front of her. Then "blam," she shot the man right in the forehead and showed him falling in the video. Then she sent the video along with a message, "Don't ever bother me again, and just wait. I'll come finish you off one day," Amy said in the message. Then she dropped the smartphone to the floor, and "crack," she immediately stomped on it, crushing it. "Clatter," she threw her pistol toward the man's body, and it landed on his chest.
Dylan kept staring at Amy beside him as if he couldn't believe it and was seeing Amy for the first time. Then, "Big Brother!" Aaron, looking battered, ran toward him with Clara and her mother, whose name was Melissa. Dylan immediately hugged Aaron.
"Are you okay?" Dylan asked.
"I'm fine, Big Brother, but how did you get here?" Aaron asked.
"That's not important. How are Clara and her mother?" Dylan replied.
"My name is Melissa, so you're Aaron's older brother. Thank you for helping us, and for helping Clara that time," Melissa replied.
"You're welcome, ma'am. (He turned to look at Clara) Are you okay, Clara?" Dylan asked.
"I'm okay... just scared earlier," Clara replied, holding Aaron's hand.
"Thank goodness. Let's get out of here. (He turned to look at Aaron) Your face and leg need attention," Dylan replied.
"Yes, Big Brother," Aaron replied.
Then Clara, supporting Aaron, walked out with Melissa. Dylan saw Amy still standing motionless, hugging her arms and looking down. Dylan approached Amy and put his arm around her, but Amy avoided him, slipping out of his embrace, and kept her back turned to Dylan.
"Amy," Dylan said.
"I'm sorry, you must hate me now, right... It's okay... you don't have to take responsibility for me... I can raise our child alone... Go with Aaron, Clara, and Aunt Melissa," Amy replied with a trembling voice.
"Hey... what are you talking about? There's no way I'd leave you alone," Dylan replied, stepping forward.
"Look (she pointed at the two people she shot). I'm a killer... I'm used to this... I can't be with you... you'll constantly be in danger if you're with me. Please... just go," Amy replied, still with her back to Dylan.
Dylan was silent for a moment. He saw Amy's trembling arms and was sure Amy was crying, even though her back was to him. Finally, he stepped forward, quietly approaching Amy, and "squeeze," he immediately hugged Amy from behind. Amy tried to break free, but Dylan was much stronger than Amy, and eventually, Amy went still, gripping Dylan's arms as she sobbed.
"You're a killer? That was self-defense. You did nothing wrong. If you hadn't shot, we would have been shot," Dylan said.
"But... your brother got involved... I'm a burden to you... My family has always been like this... I've been like this since we played in the park... you understand, don't you?" Amy said.
"Yeah... I understand. Let's go home," Dylan replied.
"No... I can't let you, Aaron, Fiona, Iris, Ellie, Maya, and Lena be in danger anymore... Please let me go... I'll leave the city right now and live alone with our child," Amy replied.
"Hmm... okay, but before that, let me tell you a secret, and I need you to keep it quiet," Dylan said.
"What?" Amy asked, her voice trembling and crying.
"I'm Phantom Cat, a thief and a con artist... I don't do what I do just for self-defense; it's my job," Dylan replied, whispering in Amy's ear.
Amy's eyes immediately widened, and her mouth dropped open. She slowly turned around and looked up at Dylan's face, which was smiling at her.
"Y-you're Phantom Cat?" Amy asked slowly.
"Yep, that's right. You saw I can teleport, run fast, and split myself... right? That's Phantom Cat's ability," Dylan answered.
"S-so you're the one... all of it was you?" Amy asked, shocked.
"Yep, all of it was me. Still want to leave?" Dylan replied and asked Amy back.
Amy immediately fell silent and kept staring at Dylan in front of her. Dylan raised his hand, then wiped Amy's tears.
"Okay, if you're quiet, that means let's go home," Dylan said, smiling.
"Y-yes," Amy replied slowly.
Finally, the two walked hand-in-hand to catch up with Aaron, Clara, and Melissa, who were waiting at the warehouse door. Then they walked until they reached the warehouse complex and called an online taxi to the hospital.
Once they arrived, Dylan immediately took Aaron, Clara, and Melissa to the emergency room to be examined. After that, he went out to meet Amy, who was sitting silently in the waiting room, looking down at her clenched fists in her lap. Dylan sat down next to Amy,
"Oh, don't tell the others what I said, okay? This is just between us," Dylan said, winking and smiling.
"Y-yes, I know... babe, please keep my secret too," Amy replied, trying to smile, but it came out strange.
"Absolutely, I won't say anything about you," Dylan said, putting his arm around Amy.
"I trust you, babe... I truly love you... thank you for helping me. Without you, I honestly don't know how I'd raise our child," Amy replied, placing her hand on her stomach and looking at it.
Dylan placed his hand over Amy's on her stomach, then he kissed Amy's forehead.
"Like I said before, don't worry. I won't leave you or the others. And your question from that time, if I would do the same thing if you were in danger, is answered now, right?" Dylan said.
"It is, babe... that's why I love you even more now," Amy replied.
Amy immediately turned and hugged Dylan. Then they kissed passionately in front of the emergency room. Dylan opened his eyes and glanced at Amy, who was kissing him.
"Thank you, 'smooth talker' skill... I almost didn't get to meet my child ... even a mafia princess can be defeated by smooth talk, huh," Dylan thought.
[Of course, sir. No matter how powerful someone is, they'll always believe a con artist.]
"Hey... even if I used a skill, I meant what I said. I wasn't conning her," Dylan said, annoyed.
[Of course, sir... I completely believe you.]
"Grrr... you don't believe me, and all of this is your fault for creating this whole situation," Dylan retorted crossly.
[Thank you for the compliment, sir. I'm happy to serve you.]
"Hey... I wasn't complimenting you," Dylan replied.
