I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 104: I can guide you

Selene raised her head, and glanced back at the distant stars in the sky. Although it was for a fleeting moment, she imagined a vague silhouette in the sky.

'To think that such unnecessary memories would still trouble me, even after decades...'

The memory was still fresh in her mind, as she saw a man, approaching a transport ship, holding the hand of a beautiful silver haired woman.

"Will you return?" Selene asked.

The two didn't answer her, making Selene's voice grow louder.

"Answer me! Will you come back?"

The silver haired woman slowed down, and looked back, carrying an innocent yet satisfied smile on her lips.

"From now on, that throne belongs to you. So you better take care of it, little one."

"No, it belongs to you! It always belonged to your House! Is it worth leaving everything behind for a man?!" Selene exclaimed louder.

The silver haired woman simply held the man's hand even tighter. "To be with him, everything is worth it."

"But he is someone from-" Selene tried speaking, but she swallowed her words.

It wasn't as if the silver haired woman didn't know about that. In fact, she knew the man's identity even better than her... An identity that had to be kept a secret at all cost.

He was a man that didn't belong anywhere. Even his name was something that didn't exist in the history books.

The man didn't turn around. He simply raised his left hand lightly, his long robe fluttering in the heavy wind as he entered the ship, holding the hands of the woman who was rightful heir to the throne of Seraphim.

"The people won't accept me!" Selene yelled.

"With my departure, the royal bloodline will cease to exist in Seraphim. Your bloodline comes closest, so they will have no choice but to accept," the silver haired woman said, as the ship's door started closing.

....

"Oh, you've heard about Earth?" Leo's words brought Selene out of her daze and she shifted her attention back to him.

"Oh, I heard about it a little in the passing." Selene vaguely said, not explaining further.

Leo was genuinely a little impressed.Although Earth was all he had known for the most of his life, it was still a relatively unknown planet in the grand scheme of things.

Other than those responsible for running the Galactic Union, he doubted many people across the galaxy would have even heard of that planet's name.

Even if she was lying like him, just to be kind, it didn't matter. In any case, it wouldn't have changed anything if she knew or didn't know about earth.

"So, how has your planet been doing recently?" Selene asked out of nowhere.

'Other than a financial giant trying to crush my business on earth? Yeah, more or less,' Leo thought.

He kept his true thoughts hidden, and explained how the earth was slowly progressing. He even talked about the organizations that were on earth, and how Earth was slowly expanding its network of allies.

Selene silently heard everything, as she walked next to Leo, even forgetting about time.

She knew that she was overthinking things. There was no way that those two would still be on earth.

After all, it was said to be a temporary stop for them when they left. Still, the name itself brought so many related memories back.

"What about your home? How are things there?" Leo asked, genuinely curious to see if he could get any clues about her planet since the search results didn't show anything.

"Umm? My home? People think it might be peaceful, but genuinely, it has never been more chaotic. As if internal troubles weren't enough, external troubles are also piling up."

"What about your family? Did they also come with you to attend the auction?" Leo asked, not wanting to dig into Selene's troubles, trying not to worsen her mood.

"My family? Huh, yeah. I came with my daughter. She is inside the auction, keeping an eye on things." Selene cheerfully said.

"You have a daughter?" Leo asked. "Did your husband not accompany you then?"

He was slightly taken aback at the realisation that Selene had a daughter, and more likely a husband as well.

"Husband? I never had one. But yeah, I do have a daughter. She should be twenty this year. I can introduce you to her later."

"Urgh, it's not necessary. I'm fine." Leo smiled awkwardly. He looked at Selene from head to toe, amazed that she looked so young when she had a twenty year old daughter.

Leo didn't realize that the people from the House of Seraphim had children in a different manner than humans did.

They didn't need a man, or to carry the child for months.

They just had to part with a single feather from their wings, and inject it with their divine essence, to bring another Seraphim into this world.

If he had wings and enough divine essence, he could also bring a Seraphim into this world right now.

It was similar for the House of Necropolis, the only difference being that they used their core essence of death.

Selene didn't know what Leo was thinking right now. She was just immersed in answering his question.

After a while, she asked, "What about your family? Do you have any children?"

"Cough, I'm too young to have a child."

"What does age have to do with having a child?" Selene asked, thinking from her own common sense. "If you're interested, I can guide you?"

Leo raised his head, looking even more astounded. What did she mean when she said that she could help him have a child? Was she implying what he thought he was implying?

Was this girl before him really that open minded? Should he take the offer? For a fleeting moment, he had that thought before he quickly shook it off.

"N-not necessary. Maybe in the future," he said, trying to kindly reject her.

"Are you sure?" Selene asked again, but Leo simply kept stepping back as if he was trying to protect himself.
