[Breaking News: Alpha Corp to drag the Watchdogs to the Intergalactic Court of Justice!]
The press conference hadn't even ended, yet the media houses had already started running flashy headlines.
The news wasn't just limited to earth. With the help of Galactic Net, the news had started spreading beyond the borders of earth. It was further fanned by the fans of Leo, who had already started hating the Watchdogs.
Within a few short minutes, the news even reached the Financial Watchdogs, their expressions twisting in disbelief.
The man that had tossed Leo into the unnamed prison after accepting a bribe, looked at the video feed in disbelief.
"He is dragging us to court? Is that even possible?"
Initially, even he was in disbelief when he saw the young man in the live feed. After all, the man looked completely identical to Leo.
"To think that he had a twin brother. What a mess..." He clicked his tongue.
He didn't actually believe that this man was actually Leo Vanderlen. After all, Leo was locked in the unnamed prison.
It was said to be easier to swallow the entire sun, than it was to escape from that place. So he didn't quite doubt the young man's claims about his identity.
"In Leo's absence, Alpha Corp didn't have any official leader. There was a vacuum of authority, so they couldn't take any legal decisions. But now that they have a legal heir... Things have become a little messy."
He clenched his fist behind his back, mumbling, "If I knew that he had a younger brother, I would've sent him to that prison with his brother as well. Then none of this would have happened..."
As he was lost in thoughts, suddenly a voice of a subordinate called out to him.
"Sir, you have a call!"
"I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone. Tell them I'm busy," Vex lazily said, already in a bad mood.
"It's from the main headquarters! It looks like this news has already reached them..."
"What?" Vex gulped heavily, as he quickly rushed to pick up the call.
Meanwhile back on another planet, Fiona was also in disbelief.
"He had a younger brother? Why didn't we find anything about him when we investigated Leo last time?!" she exclaimed.
"Just as I expected, someone worked really hard to falsify Leo's information! As expected, the background that we found was too ordinary to be true! That bastard had a twin brother as well!"
Just like everyone, even Fiona was fooled by Leo's acting. After all, she didn't even consider Leo to be so stupid that he would pretend to be his own brother. It was absurd for her to even think about.
Moreover, the Hero Tower had already done such good work at forging the identity of a twin brother, that even if she was to investigate it, she was going to find nothing wrong in this.
In an instant, Leo Vanderlen had disappeared in the eyes of his enemies, and a younger brother had appeared.
....
[GalaxyBrain_Beta: Did he just threaten the Intergalactic Watchdogs? The balls on this man! I have become a fan! If Reo says we're going to court, we're going to court!]
[HeroSimper_FinalBoss: Guys, my uncle works at the Galactic Union and says the ambassadors are already crying because they heard how sad Reo's story was during the livestream. The case is already won. #VanderlenLegacy]
[LogicIsDead: If the Agency tries to claim he's Leo, I'm starting a riot. It's a clear gaslighting tactic to avoid the lawsuit! Protect the Silver Brother at all costs!]
"I... I think that is all I can manage for today," Leo said, swaying slightly.
"The conference is over," Blaze announced.
He didn't wait for the reporters to recover. He escorted Leo back inside the Hero Tower amidst everyone's watchful eyes.
"Lord Reo, just one question!"
"Lord Reo!"
The reporters kept calling out, but there was no response from Leo who disappeared inside the Hero Tower.
The second the heavy, soundproofed titanium doors shut behind them, the fragile heir of Alpha Corp underwent a miraculous recovery.
Leo straightened his back, adjusted his silver ponytail with a practiced flick, and pulled a high-tech tablet out of his inner suit pocket.
The trembling in his hands was replaced by the blur of fingers flying across a touchscreen.
"What did you think about the press conference? It looks like it went well, right?" he asked, while checking the online reactions.
Blaze stood there, arms crossed, looking like he wanted to either applaud or throw Leo out of a high-altitude window for making him lie. Of course, figuratively.
"Are we really going to take them to court? The case isn't significant enough. It will not be accepted by the court, even with our support. Moreover, we don't have the jurisdiction to-"
"I have the jurisdiction," Leo interrupted. "I am Reo Vanderlen, the grieving victim of a corrupt system. If the Hero Tower doesn't support me, the public will burn the Tower down for betraying.an innocent man."
"You are a terrifying human being," Blaze said flatly.
"I prefer to be called resourceful," Leo countered, adjusting his hair that was dyed. "Besides, you played your part perfectly. Because of your support, I don't have to prove my identity again and again. This will help me a lot."
"Also... I'm sorry for making you lie. I know it must have been painful. So I am really grateful."
"I didn't lie," Blaze replied. "I told them we verified your identity. I just didn't tell them which identity we verified."
Leo turned, his silver hair catching the dim hallway light. A small smile spread on his lips.
'Leo Vanderlen was a man restricted by laws and the public eye. But Reo? Reo is a grieving victim with the keys to the Alpha Corp and the protection of the Hero Tower. This should be fun...' he thought.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a company to run," he said, as he stepped inside the lift, with a spaceship waiting on the helipad for him, to escort him legally to his bank.
Leo pressed the button, letting the lift door close.
As the lift rose up, Leo was left alone.
"I wonder if I should make a giant gold statue before the bank, dedicated to my dear brother," he mumbled, breaking the moment of silence.
