As the doors slid open, Leo was greeted by the helipads, most of which were occupied by the ships belonging to the Hero Tower.
Amidst all of them, there was one ship that stood out. It was marked with the branding of Glitzy, but it didn't look any less modern than the other ships.
The pilot, a man who had clearly spent the last hour watching the livestream, scrambled out of the cockpit, his eyes red and puffy.
"Lord Reo!" the pilot sobbed, clutching a handkerchief. "I... I had no idea what Lord Leo had a brother. You have his eyes! And his nose! I'm really sorry for everything that you were put through."
Leo simply patted the Pilot's shoulder, before walking past him, not offering him any explanation.
On the way to his ship, he couldn't help but wonder, 'Even I didn't cry that much for my so-called brother. Aren't these people going a little overboard? Then again, it's good for me.'
Leo took his seat inside the ship, while the pilot wiped his tears and rushed inside as well.
Once both of them were inside, the doors of the ship closed. Within seconds, the ship started rising in the air, and before long, it had disappeared into the distant space.
....
The journey that would've taken much longer in an ordinary ship, was completed within half a day, even without taking a shortcut through a black hole.
"Legal freedom feels so good."
On the planet owned by him, Leo stepped out of the ship, stretching his arms.
Now that he had a legal identity that was detached from his previous identity, he didn't have to hide his face. If anything, he could do a lot more things now.
Even if someone was able to link Leo to the explosions to the Lionel Branches, what did this have to do with him? With this one trick, he had basically cast another layer of protection around him.
"Hmm? Why are so many people gathered here?" Leo mumbled, as he finally came to his senses, taking in the sight before him.
Not a hundred people, not a thousand people. The moment he stepped out of the ship, he was greeted by the sea of people.
It was as if hundreds of thousands of people had gathered before his bank, to welcome the little brother of the man that had changed their lives.
The people were cheering for him so loud that it made Leo's ears almost bleed.
Fortunately, the people were also very well behaved. Although they were cheering for him, they didn't make things difficult for him.
They had left a path between them, for Leo to pass through and enter the bank. Even a red carpet was laid between them, like the lord of this planet had arrived.
For a moment, Leo even wondered if it was all a crazy dream. After all, amidst these people, most were alien species that he hadn't seen before.
The sight that bewildered him the most was a dog that was standing on two feet, dressed in a black coat, and a hat, holding a board welcoming him.
"No matter how many times I see such things, I can never get accustomed to such a sight."
Leo scratched his temple, as he took the red carpet amidst the cheers of people.
Most of them were so loud but he could still hear a few things. Quite a few people were screaming that they supported him in a fight against the Watchdogs.
A few of them were even saying that they were willing to place their entire life savings in the bank to be used by Reo in this fight.
With each step, Leo kept thanking the people on either side. He was like a celebrity, shaking hands with the guests that had formed lines on either side.
"Lord Reo, one autograph!" A woman shouted, as Leo was about to shake her hand.
Without even waiting for his response, she placed a marker in his hand.
Leo smiled wryly, but nodded. "Do you have a paper where I can sign? Or do you want me to sign your hand?"
The woman that had asked for his autograph was empty handed, and didn't look like she had anything he could sign.
As Leo was wondering where to sign, the woman went beyond his expectations. She suddenly pulled her top down, revealing her cleavage, and asking, "Please sign here."
"A-are you certain?" Leo looked awkward at the sight. Although he had heard about such crazy fans, it was his first time seeing something like this happening to him.
"I am certain. Please give me your autograph!" The girl insisted, leaving Leo with no choice.
"If you say so..." Since he already had the permanent marker, he was left with no choice.
He reached out his hand and signed on her cleavage, writing, "With Love, Reo Vanderlen."
After he finished writing, he was about to hand over the marker when he noticed that the girls further also looked at him with expectant eyes, as they also did the same.
The surprise part was that girls weren't the ones. Even men, and aliens from other species had started doing the same, as if a trend had started.
Leo felt a headache. He returned the marker to the girl, as he raised his voice.
"I would've loved to give you all an autograph, but I've not been feeling well for some time. Please forgive me for not being able to give you more time."
He touched his forehead, and swayed on his feet a little as he ignored the others and swiftly covered the rest of the distance, entering the bank.
Fortunately, the bank was less crowded than outside. After all, the staff had already temporarily banned customer entry, expecting Leo's arrival.
"Chaotic, wasn't it?" The Branch Manager approached Leo, who finally stopped swaying, his back straightening.
"It was. But isn't that for the best? The more chaotic it is, the better. Especially since when we are about to do next, can't be linked back to us at any cost," Leo said, the corner of his lips creeping up.
"Are we really moving forward with the plan?" The Branch Manager asked, his expressions growing extremely serious.
"Of course we are. Wasn't everything we did for that end goal? It's time to put an end to this..." Leo said, stepping inside his office.
