"Therefore," Picollo continued. "We have made a decision. The Alpha Suit will be... Free!"
The hall erupted. It was total chaos. People were standing on chairs. The representative from the Lionel Family looked like he had just swallowed a whole lemon.
Fiona even wondered if she was hearing things. Did they just say that they were going to provide these for free? How would they recover their investment?
Leo's ears perked up. 'Free? Did he just say free? Yes, if it's free, there won't be any profits! That's right! I can still lose money this month!'
Leo's eyes lit up as his initial enthusiasm returned.
On stage, Yelina was smiling brightly, watching the audience's reaction.
She adjusted her round glasses as she leaned in closer to Picollo. "Look at them! The Boss is going to be so proud of us! We crushed it!"
"Everything is because of him. I still can't believe that he approved my idea without any questions."
Picollo wiped sweat from his brow, his face pale from the pain in his shoulder but his eyes shining.
"We did it, Yelina. We finally proved we aren't useless." Picollo smiled, almost unable to hold back his tears.
Throughout the years, he had been insulted, mocked, and scolded. But now, he was the center of attention. This feeling was truly surreal, and it was all thanks to Leo's faith in them.
He looked at the guests and bowed once again, as he loudly said, "Thank you for coming. With this, we now end the demonstration!"
Leo slowly picked himself up from the floor outside. He dusted off his ordinary pants.
"At least he is sensible enough. Looks like I was worrying over nothing. If they are free, then it'll just be seen as charity. A good opportunity to lose more money."
"Meanwhile, the perception of this invention alone will allow Alpha Corp to get its own standing," he mumbled as he started walking away with a sigh of relief. "Although my plan to have eggs thrown on the stage failed, this allows me to aim bigger."
Now that the event was over, there was no need to stay here, especially since the guests might spot him if he didn't leave while they were distracted.
He quickly ran past the hole in the wall, though Yelina saw a figure quickly flash past the corner of her eye.
"Didn't I tell the staff not to enter that corridor during the presentation? I'll have to give them a piece of my mind later." She puffed her cheeks but didn't pursue it.
Meanwhile, Leo was walking alone in the empty corridor. He was surprised he hadn't seen a single person there, not even a staff member.
But then he remembered the laser blasting through the wall and understood that this area was probably off-limits to the staff. It was beneficial to him, as it allowed him to move without any trouble.
"With this, Alpha Corp has presented itself as a powerful yet kind organization in this space sector. Which idiot would dare to think that this company is overvalued now?"
"It should allow me to get a proper loan while still losing that billion credits this month. Let's see if anyone can still reject me with the charitable Invisible Catalogue as a carrot hanging before them."
Leo returned to the sliced window and pushed it out. He jumped out the window and tried to place the pane back in position.
After he was finished, he walked away from the venue.
"Why do I feel like I am forgetting something?" he wondered on the way. "Did I leave the heater on at home?"
As his figure disappeared into the distance, a guard was still lying on the ground behind a dumpster, half-naked and tied up.
It wasn't until a few hours later that the guard would finally be discovered, albeit in his embarrassing position.
Meanwhile, back in the grand hall, Picollo was immersing himself in the cheers, especially from the guests from Earth that were loudest.
Meanwhile the interplanetary guests were still more dignified.
"Thank you, everyone!" Picollo shouted over the noise. "But you might be thinking that the event has ended with the demonstration. Let me tell you that you would be wrong!"
"There's just one more thing..." Picollo said. "If you're interested in what we revealed today, please go through these terms and conditions to understand the criteria for the right to buy our products!"
"Right to buy the products? Didn't you just say that they were free?" a prominent media house owner asked.
"We are giving these items for free, but as you all can guess, we do have limited inventory. We can't just have an infinite supply. That's why we have set up some criteria to select the recipients," Picollo answered.
"Our boss has also approved these terms and conditions. So they are final and will not be changed. Please only apply to be our partners if you are willing to satisfy these terms!"
In that instant, a file was received by every guest invited. A single file contained thousands of pages. It was digitally signed by Leo Vanderlen on the last page.
Almost every single person started going through the terms and conditions after sitting back down. Throughout this time, their expressions kept changing as they went from one page to another.
Thirty minutes passed, yet even the fastest readers were only halfway through.
"Now that I think about it, our boss truly is a genius," Picollo mumbled as he got his shoulder treated backstage while everyone else was busy with the file that had millions of words to go through.
"He read the entire file, signed it, and sent it back. And when I checked the time, it was only five minutes from the moment I set the terms and conditions for his approval and received them back."
The first few pages were standard fare, starting with definitions that people needed to know. It was only in the later chapters that things truly became interesting.
"That's true. He must be an extraordinary person. I wish I could meet him in person at least once in my life," Fiona sighed, standing nearby. "You must promise me that you will introduce me to the boss in the future!"
"Hah, even I can't see his face. How can I introduce you? Do you think he will be walking around here, hiding his face from us?" Piccolo laughed weakly. "He is probably too busy doing something even more important."
Another forty minutes passed before someone exclaimed, "These are your terms and conditions? That's absurd! Why don't you just rob us?!"
