Leo stood in the center of the stage, frozen like a statue. The blinding spotlight, designed to highlight the treasure that was first to be auctioned, was currently brightening up his bewildered face instead.
Silence... absolute silence filled the entire Auction House. Thousands of eyes, ranging from the wealth magnets of varying space sectors in the back to the literal overlords in the VIP booths, were fixed on the young man who had just materialized out of thin air on the stage.
'I am going to dismantle that ship piece by piece,' Leo thought, his mind temporarily going blank. 'I asked for a location where I wouldn't be detected. I didn't mean a place where everyone is literally paying to look at!'
In the front row of the VIP section, Yvenol leaned forward. He blinked his eyes that were filled with amusement.
"Is this... part of the entertainment?" Yvenol asked. "He's a bit skinny for a gladiator, isn't he? Is he going to juggle the treasures?"
Selene, in another room, narrowed her beautiful eyes. Even she was a little surprised by the sudden appearance, wondering if this was something planned by the auction house for entertainment.
Meanwhile, the Auction House Owner, who was standing near the stage, finally reacted. He didn't just faint. It was more like he folded like a cheap lawn chair, his fluffy fox tail twitching one last time before his consciousness checked out of reality.
He had to be slapped to come back to his senses, before he rushed onto the stage. However, along the way, the auction house owner recognized the face of this intruder.
His steps slowed down as he mumbled, "Isn't he... the seller of the Celestial Lotus?"
Leo realized that if he ran now, the security would just come after him. He had to act fast. He slowly lowered his hand, which was still awkwardly raised as if he were reaching for a snack on his ship, and smoothed out his clothes.
"Ahem," Leo cleared his throat. The sound echoed through the stadium like it was being carried by magic.
He looked at the Auctioneer, a young woman who looked like she was reconsidering every life choice that had led her to this stage. She was gripping her gavel so hard her knuckles were white.
Leo had a feeling that she was prepared to swing that gavel at his face.
"Hmm, isn't he..." Fiona also sprung to her feet as she recognized the person. "Leo Vanderlen? What is he doing there?"
Even as the wealthiest person in her space sector, she had barely managed to get an invitation, that too of a commoner entrance. So how could Leo get here? And that too on the stage?
She wasn't the only one who was surprised. The Prince of Necropolis, Kaelus was also taken aback to see Leo.
He felt like a proud teary-eyed father who had seen his long lost child after a long time.
"Leo! Are you finally here to save me from this... this crazy psychopathic man?" Timmy also felt like he had seen an angel as he looked back and forth between Leo and Kaelus.
Meanwhile Leo wasn't able to see any of them. He was on the stage, with the lights focused on him.
Most of the seats were shrouded in darkness, making it impossible to see any guest even on the seats in the open unless one had special skills for vision.
Leo didn't know who the guests were in the open seats. But he knew that in the private rooms, there were definitely guests from the Ancient Planets and other influential people.
He was also more or less certain that the Leaders of Galactic Union, including Viserl had also taken private rooms of their own.
Unfortunately, he couldn't ask them for help. They didn't recognise him like this, and he didn't want them to recognize him like this either.
For now, he had to rely on himself and make this situation a little less awkward.
He took a deep breath, and acted all natural as he bowed forward like a gentleman.
"And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, was my magic trick for your entertainment as we start this Auction. If you liked it, please leave a review with the Auction House later. Every five star review helps."
He raised his head and straightened his back. At the same time, he completely ignored the weird look of the auctioneer who was wondering, what nonsense was this man talking about.
For a moment, even she had started doubting herself since this man talked with such conviction. Did the Auction House really plan this?
While she was still lost in thought, Leo turned his back on him and gracefully walked towards the stairs that led down the stairs as if it was a completely natural thing for him to do.
His conviction was so contagious that for a moment, even the Auction House Owner believed him.
Fortunately, he quickly came back to his senses. He grabbed Leo's wrist as soon as the young man came down, and dragged him away.
"You idiot, what were you doing on the stage? Do you know you could lose your head if you had upset any of our guests? You might not care about your lives, but we do care about ours!"
Throughout the way, Leo kept getting an earful from the Auction House owner. Fortunately, the owner didn't punish him in any other way since Leo was still a seller for their most precious item in this auction.
"Just this once, I will let this pass since the incident didn't escalate. But next time, don't do anything stupid! Now stay in this vip room. If you need anything else, just ask for the staff assigned in the room."
He pushed Leo inside the room, and walked away while stomping his feet.
It was only after he went far away that he suddenly wondered, "Wait a minute. This entire place has spatial blockage devices active. So how did he manage to get directly on the stage?"
He tilted his head sideways in confusion. However, suddenly a staff member called for him, and he momentarily stopped thinking about it.
Back on the stage, the Auctioneer had finally calmed down.
"Now, we shall finally begin the Greatest Auction that the universe has ever seen!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing loud and clear.
