Hellbound With The Vampire King

Chapter 69: Seeking Closure

Serena nodded immediately, tilting her head to the side to hear his point of view. Would he just feed her with lies or what? Right now, she felt like she didn't know him.

Eiravyn stood up and walked to the side, leaning lightly on the wall as he turned to face Serena. His eyes fixed on her like he was about to reveal the greatest secret in the world, forcing Serena to straighten her shoulders to listen to him properly.

"It's not like I don't want you. You are stunning and you are my mate. The mate bond is something that draws you, and even if your face was scarred or you nose was crooked, the mate bond would still makes you the most beautiful person in your mate's eyes…" Eiravyn said as he sighed.

Serena could not help herself from touching her nose, wondering if that was how he thought of her. But Eiravyn quickly denied that.

"That is not what I mean, I'm merely using that as an example, Kitten. You're by far the most gorgeous lady I have ever seen." Eiravyn assured her; from his gaze, she could tell that that part was not a lie.

Serena sighed, relieve washing over her.

Eiravyn then took two steps back to the bed, his gaze suddenly hardening with tension. If you were close to him, you would be able to see how much he was holding himself back from taking her right there.

"But…" he started but then paused, as he walked closer to her and turned Serena to him, so he could see her expression when he said what he had to say.

"I want to know the reason why you keep offering yourself to me. By what I've seen so far, Little Kitten. You are not that kind of a girl so why?"

Now that Eiravyn thought about it, every single chance Serena had, she was always talking about these things, which made Eiravyn doubt the main reason she followed him here, and also they had not gotten to know each other properly. Even though he had asked Caspian to do a background check on her, that didn't reveal much. He realized there were a lot of things left unsaid, making him doubt himself; he doesn't want this relationship to be base on lies and doubts. After all, tomorrow would be a new chapter for them.

"Hmm…" Serena said, but she could not complete her statement as she bit her bottom lip anxiously while avoiding Eiravyn's sharp eyes.

"I already told you, I just wanted to experience it." Serena said plainly, fighting the urge to not bite her fingernails out of habit, as that was what she did when she was put on a spot.

Eiravyn felt rage almost overwhelm him, but he sighed… this kitten. She was really good at bringing the worst out of him and also the best. He could not help himself but wonder. What if he was not there at the bar that day and she had gone to another man — would she asked the man the same thing she asked him that night at the bar?

This question had been disrupting him for a while now; even while he was still in the human realm, the feeling of possessiveness and jealousy threatened to overtake him. Eiravyn was trying so hard not to snap at her — she is his mate, she is supposed to be treated with the utmost respect and care she deserved as his queen.

What would his people think if they found out that he did not really trust his mate.

Eiravyn growled low; he wanted her to tell him willingly. " Kitten, tell me the truth. There's no reason to be scared, I'm your mate. I'm here to support you not to scare you. You have my support, whatsoever." He said.

Serena shook her head and then her face became severe. She knew she had no choice but to tell Eiravyn about her illness. She had hidden for years, only her family and close friends knew about this and she was willing to keep it that way; she decided to tell him later but since he was asking now, she had no other choice but to reveal it now.

"Eiravyn… I'm sorry that I did not tell you this from the beginning…. I… I don't know what you'd think of me but I just wanted to do what my heart said for once. What I'm about to say to you right now, I never meant for all this to happen, I know it was selfish of me to keep it all this time but I hope you would forgive me…"

Eiravyn was quiet; he didn't say much, he just quietly stared at her, urging her to speak up.

"Hmm… Eiravyn… I'm sick, for two years now, I was diagnosed with the same illness that killed my mother…" Serena finally dropped the bomb. She could not bring herself to look at his face while she was speaking, but now she couldn't help but lift her face and turned to him, her nose red from her efforts to stop herself from crying.

"Is that all… kitten, are you sure you're not hiding anything else from me?" Eiravyn said, his voice plain, his eyes sharp as he observed her reaction, hoping to hear more.

She was surprise to hear what he said to her confession, she had expected him to snap at her for lying and decieving him. After all, she had did the very thing she vowed never to do, fall in love. What will happen if she ends up dead because of her illness?

"That's all, when I came to the bar that night, I was really looking for a one night stand but after you rejected me, I went back home and since then you've been on my mind." She said, turning to look at Eiravyn.

"I swear Eiravyn, when I found out I had cancer, I vowed never to get married as I didn't want to put any boy through what my dad went through after the demise of my mother. I had planned to do the same with you, I just wanted a one night stand with no string attach, then I met you, and every little decision I made started to change and I found myself drawn to you."

Eiravyn nodded at her words. Oh, that was why she is still a virgin. Interesting, He muttered to himself when he heard Serena's voice again.

"I really hope you can forgive me for being selfish."

But instead, Eiravyn asked. "So you mean if it were another man, you wouldn't have asked for that one thing you asked me in the bar?" He asked, wanting to be sure.

Serena nodded, she felt tears about to pool out of her eyes.

"Then that's great!" Eiravyn suddenly exclaimed and rushed to her, hugging her tightly.

Serena turned to look at him, wondering what he meant by that.

Eiravyn felt her gaze on him and thought he needed to explain himself. "I already knew you were diagnosed with cancer but I also know you never went to a hospital to confirm if truly you had cancer." Eiravyn explained in a clear voice, he felt glad when he heard that she never really thought about asking any other guy. He felt so reassured.

Serena's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets in surprise. "How do you know? I never told anybody." She was so surprised.
