God's Imitator

Chapter 30: Bypassing the Rules

Not long after, the others also got up one after another.

Each of them came to the hall, ordered different foods, and gathered in small groups to chat.

Fu Chen first found Cai Zhiyuan.

Cai Zhiyuan, after a brief moment of thought, stood up and called Li Renshu and Cao Haichuan, bringing them to a small meeting room on the side of the hall.

This building has many small compartments of varying sizes, each arranged differently, seemingly encouraging people to use them for different purposes.

Lin Sizhi was the last to be called.

"I want to discuss with everyone if there's a way to help Uncle Ding."

Fu Chen didn't beat around the bush and briefly explained the problem Ding Wenqiang was facing.

"The reason for not saying this in public is mainly because this somewhat involves Uncle Ding's privacy, and I'm afraid he might feel embarrassed and reject our goodwill.

"Too many people make discussions chaotic.

"So I wanted to ask everyone to discuss privately first and come up with a general plan. If it's feasible, we can persuade the others."

Fu Chen looked at the four others present.

Cai Zhiyuan shook his head: "I don't think it will work.

"It's strictly prohibited for players to engage in any direct or indirect transactions regarding visa time, this is a basic rule of the community.

"That is to say, if I were to buy a fried rice and pretend to leave it aside, and Uncle Ding ate it, that would also be a violation.

"Depending on the severity of the violation, the penalty ranges from the deduction of visa time to being directly expelled from the community.

"I think it's better not to dance in the minefield."

It's clear that Cai Zhiyuan has an extremely rational personality.

When considering anything, he would prioritize feasibility and probability, even subconsciously filtering out the emotional fluctuations of people.

Maybe this is some sort of occupational hazard for programmers?

However, Lin Sizhi always felt that although Cai Zhiyuan had some programmer traits, he was completely different from the stereotypical 'dull and honest' image of a typical programmer.

Fu Chen glanced at Cao Haichuan: "Officer Cao, what do you think?"

Cao Haichuan shrugged: "You asked the wrong person, I'm a straightforward guy. Apart from solving cases and handling trivial conflicts, I'm not good at anything else.

"I think when it comes to game rules, we should avoid breaking them if possible.

"When Walkway opens again, if one of us is lucky enough to be grouped with Ding Wenqiang, then we'll give him a hand."

Li Renshu kept her head down, frowning, without giving a quick conclusion like Cai Zhiyuan and Cao Haichuan.

"Although I can't think of a good solution for now, I think it's necessary to establish some sort of community guarantee system as soon as possible.

"This isn't just for Uncle Ding, it's for ourselves as well.

"Currently, Uncle Ding has the shortest visa time, but what about in the future?

"Who can guarantee that they will never run out of visa time or get injured during the game?

"In Walkway, there could be very dangerous games, and each of us has the potential to become a burden to the community.

"If we can find a way to solve the food problem, it's equivalent to establishing a basic guarantee in the community, which in the long run increases the community's risk tolerance."

Cai Zhiyuan was silent for a moment, reluctantly saying: "Hmm, there's some truth in it."

Clearly, he acknowledged Li Renshu's 'point,' believing that if such a guarantee mechanism truly exists, it would indeed protect the weak and enhance the community's overall risk tolerance.

But he didn't believe he would ever be the weak one.

Everyone fell silent; clearly, the task before them was one that should be done, and doing it would be beneficial, but it seemed almost impossible to accomplish.

Fu Chen looked towards Lin Sizhi: "Lawyer Lin, what's your take?"

Lin Sizhi pondered for a moment: "I think, although community rules appear rigid, there might be ways to circumvent them."

At these words, a glimmer of hope flashed in Fu Chen's eyes: "Really? Please, elaborate?"

The other three were also somewhat surprised because, in their eyes, Lin Sizhi was always a reliable person, unlikely to make unfounded claims, indicating she had some confidence in her words.

But rules are rules.

Lin Sizhi paused slightly: "Do you all remember when we encountered people from Community 3 in the game?

"The initial heavy loss Jiang He and her team suffered was because the four players from Community 3 were very tightly organized.

"But thinking back, this doesn't quite make sense.

"In the game, even players from the same community don't have much cooperation because there's only one winner at the table, and the winnings are hard to share with others.

"In other words, there's a 'division of spoils' issue.

"But in the game, the other three players willingly cooperated, giving their chips to Lu Xinyi."

Cai Zhiyuan thought for a moment: "Perhaps it's something like PUA or psychological manipulation?"

Lin Sizhi slightly shook her head: "That's unlikely.

"I'm more inclined to believe that players from Community 3 have a way to allocate visa time among members within the community."

"Only this way could their interests be tied together, forming a more solid alliance."

Everyone fell into thought, as this specific example was indeed quite convincing.

Lin Sizhi continued: "Prohibiting any direct or indirect transaction of 'visa time' is written in the basic rules of the community and cannot be violated.

"However, we could potentially find a way around it.

"First, what can counter a basic rule is only another basic rule, so we should find a solution within the other basic rules;

"Second, we need to look at the words closely, as long as our solution isn't considered a 'transaction,' it won't be considered a violation."

Li Renshu pondered: "Not a transaction, but allowing us to allocate our excess visa time to those with less time..."

Cai Zhiyuan was still puzzled: "Is there really such a method?"

Li Renshu and Cao Haichuan exchanged a glance, clearly both having figured out the answer.

"There is."

Li Renshu seriously stated: "Before money is distributed to individuals, it is first deducted and redistributed according to a certain percentage, which isn't considered a transaction. In the real world, we call this taxation and social welfare."

Cai Zhiyuan instantly realized.

Taxation and welfare, things that already exist in the real world, yet Cai Zhiyuan had momentarily overlooked them upon entering this so-called 'New World.'

From a conceptual standpoint, taxation and welfare aren't considered transactional actions and indeed can provide basic support for lower-income groups, which aligns perfectly with their intentions.

At this point, everyone almost simultaneously realized the method they needed to use.

"The second of the community's basic rules, draft a proposal!"

Previously, when the basic rules were introduced, this method was mentioned.

In short, everyone has the right to propose something to the community, and upon passing the review, it goes to a vote by all community members.

When it secures more than half the votes, so at least seven people agreeing, the proposal can then be implemented.

Fu Chen nodded slightly: "So, we could propose a 'minimum community guarantee' proposal.

"But clearly, this kind of proposal can't be put forward randomly, as it must first pass the community's review.

"It can't violate the community's basic rules, and it must be operable."

Cai Zhiyuan had a sudden thought: "If we propose that the community distribute ten thousand minutes of visa time to each of us every day, what would happen?"

Officer Cao shook his head: "It likely won't pass the review. We probably can only allocate our existing visa time and using this rule to fleece the community would clearly be wishful thinking."

Cai Zhiyuan agreed: "Yeah, that's what I thought too. But we can give it a try, even if it doesn't pass the review, at least we have nothing to lose openly."
