The Miraculous Treasure Hunting System

Chapter 117. Dazzling Golden Light

Andre, Elena, and Vanessa charged forward, each engaging a knight statue in combat.

Facing the massive metal sword swung by the statue, Andre dodged it easily, his blue iron fist slamming heavily into the statue's waist. However, the knight's armor seemed to be made of a special metal, and the punch didn't cause much damage.

Seeing this, Old Bobby, who was observing the statues, immediately called out, "The armor must have been forged with magic-infused materials; it has excellent magic resistance. You guys hold them off. I'll figure out their weaknesses. I haven't studied these spell guardians in detail yet."

Ed moved to assist Elena, helping to firmly hold off the knights in front of them, while Jason assisted Vanessa. Their strength had only reached the first spiral, so these knights were unlikely to pose much of a problem for them. Andre's strength had already exceeded the first spiral and he was said to be nearing the second.

As for Elena and Vanessa, they had both reached the first spiral.

After a few rounds of fighting, Ed figured it out. These knights, with their formidable defenses and powerful swords, were surprisingly strong attackers. However, their movements were not swift. Simply dodging and stalling them wasn't difficult; one didn't even need to be at the level of a spiral strike to evade them easily. But defeating one was a different story.

Andre had already pummeled the knight in front of him until its armor creaked, showing only dents. Its movements were slightly distorted, yet despite taking so many hits, it could still attack relatively smoothly.

Several minutes passed. The knight facing Andre was now struggling to walk, its body riddled with dents. A corner of its helmet had been smashed open, revealing a peculiar structure inside.

"Old Bobby, how much longer?" Jason couldn't help but ask from the side.

"I see it, I see it! Hit the lower right chest and abdomen; that should be the energy transmission core!"

Hearing this, Ed produced a blue card and hurled it at the knight without hesitation. The card exploded in front of it, and four chains bound its limbs, immobilizing it. Elena rushed forward, a strong silver light gathering in her right hand.

"Bang!"

With a loud crash, her punch struck the weak point. The armored knight was sent flying, crashing to the ground and skidding several meters before twitching a few times and lying still.

"Don't always rely on brute force; use technique, use magic to penetrate!" Seeing Elena's success, Andre took a moment to reprimand her. Then, facing his own enemy, he said, "Watch closely!"

As he finished speaking, blue light gathered in his right hand. The light did not radiate outward but enveloped his fist like a thin film.

"Whoosh!"

A sharp sound of tearing air rang out. Ed didn't even see it clearly before Andre's punch struck the weak point. The knight didn't fly away. Instead, the light immediately dissipated from its body, and it collapsed to the ground. A large hole now marked where the weak point had been.

"It doesn't matter if there are weak points or not, right? Just one punch anywhere and he's done for," Ed couldn't help but complain inwardly. Andre, who had just been fighting the knight, now looked like he was merely stretching.

"Did you see that clearly?" Andre turned and asked.

Jason, who had already dealt with his opponent, exchanged a bewildered glance with Ed. They had seen nothing.

Elena nodded, but then said somewhat dejectedly, "It's not that easy, Dad. Seeing clearly and learning are two different things."

"Your training has been a bit lax. I'll start drilling you again when we get back," Andre said after a moment of silence. Hearing this, Elena visibly sagged.

As the three knights fell, the flat stone slab in the empty field began to tremble. The ground cracked, and the stone slab beneath their feet started sliding to both sides, revealing the space below. Those standing on it immediately jumped to safety.

As the slab fully opened, the contents of the chamber were revealed. The first thing to appear was a blinding golden light. Yet, this light did not make anyone close their eyes; instead, they widened them even more. The dazzling glow represented enormous wealth.

A square space with sides of four meters was now exposed. Inside, a vast fortune was neatly stacked. Unlike Vault 5, which had been filled with oil paintings and sculptures, this vault contained only the most tangible riches: gold, diamonds, jewels, and extremely expensive armor and weapons. In the very center stood a single treasure chest.

Old Bobby swiftly grabbed a handful of powder from his pocket and scattered it into the vault. The dust drifted down slowly without any reaction. "No problem."

Hearing this, Andre jumped down. After a careful inspection, he nodded. He took out the cloth storage bag Ed had used earlier, opened it fully, and began stuffing the surrounding treasures inside.

Ed, while pretending to look around, didn't hold back either, occasionally making precious items he found disappear into his own inventory. He had to be sure no one was paying attention. The gain wasn't much, but it was better than nothing.

Soon, the golden light dimmed. All the treasures had been completely transferred into the seemingly endless bag. The only thing left was the central treasure chest.

Andre threw the bag he was carrying directly upward. Elena caught it without a word. Andre then jumped up, the treasure chest in his arms.

Old Bobby immediately went to examine it. "No problem. There aren't any special mechanisms; it should be easy to open."

"Then let's get back to the ship first," Andre said, preparing to leave with the chest.

"Wait, take the remains of the rune guardians too. They're ruined, but the materials are still valuable."

Hearing this, Elena ran over with the bag and dragged the three broken constructs inside. "Now it's all right. Quick, let's get on the ship. I can't wait," Old Bobby said, rubbing his hands together.

Everyone retreated with excitement. Since the disc key had fused completely with the iron gate, they could only close it gently. The group returned to the circular stone slab, and Old Bobby took out the disc key. The slab slowly rose. They then covered the area with surrounding vegetation and soil, performing a simple camouflage.

Vanessa waved her hand. A pale green light shone down, and on the thin layer of soil, the plants seemed to spring back to life. The camouflage was perfect.
