The Miraculous Treasure Hunting System

Chapter 118. The Pocket Ring

They were now back on the ship.

The ordinary treasures remained in their endless pockets. However, the box Andre carried was placed in the center of the group. Of all the treasures, those that could fit in the box were undoubtedly the most precious.

Seeing everyone's gaze, Andre slowly opened it.

First revealed were the protective runes inscribed inside. These runes were used to preserve magical items, preventing them from being eroded by the outside world over time and losing their potency, or even their magical nature entirely.

Ed hadn't understood this before. But after learning from Bobby and Lucilia, he had gained a sufficient understanding of the extraordinary world. For example, the treasure he had first obtained from Jack was like this; the flowing metal used to encase the inheritance was a higher level of protection. It was still in his inventory.

As the box opened fully, the contents were revealed to everyone.

There were only four magical items and one small booklet.

In Ed's eyes, only one of the magical items had a visible blue outline. This meant it was the most important, or rather, the most precious item in the treasure.

Andre first skipped over the magical items and reached for the booklet. After a quick glance, he determined its contents.

"It records some interesting spells. I will add it to the library. If any of you are interested, you can look it up," Andre said, handing the booklet to Old Bobby.

"The remaining four magical items will be selected by the four of you according to your contributions."

He looked up at Ed. "This time, your contribution is undoubtedly the greatest. You choose first."

Ed nodded. Without hesitation, he reached for the magical item with the faintly glowing blue outline.

It was a hollowed-out ring, its spirals intersecting with great artistic beauty. It was slightly cool to the touch. After a couple of glances, Ed handed it directly to Bobby for appraisal.

"A pocket ring! This is a pocket ring, used to store things. As for the exact size, I don't know; you'll have to check it yourself later," Bobby said.

After hearing the appraisal, Ed nodded and put the ring directly on his right index finger.

"Next is me, then Jason, then Bobby," Andre announced.

Bobby waved his hand upon hearing the ranking. "I'll pass; it should go to Elena."

Hearing Bobby's words, Andre nodded, not paying much attention. Old Bobby was, after all, an engraver; magical equipment wasn't particularly rare to him. He probably realized that none of the remaining items interested him.

Andre reached out and took a bracelet. Jason stepped forward and took a pocket watch, his expression unusually excited. Elena naturally chose the last item left: a short rapier about an arm's length long.

After everyone had made their selections, Andre continued, "I will distribute the remaining treasure after it's all sold. Those who took magical items will each receive a share of the ordinary treasure as well."

No one objected to Andre's distribution; they all nodded in agreement.

However, at that moment, Andre took a stone tablet from the bag containing the ordinary treasure. Upon seeing the slab, everyone curiously gathered around.

The script on it wasn't the common script used by the Blood Gold Alliance and its surrounding areas, but rather an older one. Fortunately, everyone was a member of a treasure-hunting team and knew each other; Ed had also studied with Lucilia.

The inscription on the slab concerned a fatal scandal involving the Ackerbit family.

Looking at the information, Andre smiled.

At this moment, Jason, as if remembering something, spoke up: "Wait, I remember the governor of Meister Island is from the Ackerbit family, right?"

Andre turned around, smiling and nodding.

"That's strange. Why does every vault have scandals about different people, even his own son?" Jason frowned, somewhat puzzled.

At this moment, Ed also spoke up. "So that's why the Shark Bite Gang was able to cooperate with the governor. Didn't their leader open two treasure vaults before? He probably knew there was a scandal hidden in them and used that as leverage to cooperate, and to put us on the wanted list."

If Ed had found this secret alone, he might have blackmailed that damn governor to the point where he didn't have a penny left, squeezing out every last coin. The Shark Bite Gang was too inexperienced when it came to blackmail.

Their old-fashioned thinking held them back; otherwise, how could such a huge secret be exchanged for just making a few people want certificates? At least 100 Gold Sails should have been paid before any talk. Don't forget, the other party is the governor of a well-known city. He might lack many things, but not money.*

"What you're saying makes sense, and it might actually be true," Andre agreed.

Everyone chimed in, quickly piecing together the general picture.

At this moment, Andre's smile turned somewhat sinister as he looked at the stone tablet in his hand. "It seems we'll have to stay in this area for a while longer. I don't have the habit of letting my enemies live peacefully."

Hearing this, everyone's faces showed schadenfreude. It seemed this governor was in big trouble. Of course, they were gloating, he had caused them quite a bit of trouble recently.

"Alright, everyone, this is another new victory for us. Let's all go back and rest. We'll celebrate properly tonight."

After chatting for a while, everyone returned to their cabins.

As soon as Ed entered his cabin, Lucilia popped out. "Wow! Treasure hunting is so much fun!" She sat on the edge of the bed, waving her hands excitedly.

Although she couldn't participate personally, she had observed the whole time, clinging to Ed. This was something that had only happened in storybooks before, but experiencing it firsthand was much more interesting than reading about it.

Ed smiled, walked to the table, and took out the map from his inventory. He looked at the newly dimmed dot on it:

[Thaas's Twelve Treasure Vaults - Vault 3] (Harvested)

Difficulty: Toucher (One Spiral)

Fame: 1,837,300

Treasure Information: Thaad lost her fertility due to personal reasons in her youth...

Vault 3: One of the three great vaults, containing various...

Treasure Harvest: Treasure × N, Pocket Ring. ]

The treasure information displayed should only show what has been obtained. Looking at it, Ed couldn't help but turn the ring on his right hand.

A pocket ring is no different than a storage ring, the one he had read about in the stories in his previous life. Although this thing is useless for him, with his near-infinite storage capacity, his all-mighty inventory connected to his soul, this kind of pocket ring is just a piece of trash.

But at least now he has a legitimate reason to make things disappear and appear out of thin air. He doesn't have to carry an empty bag everywhere just to fool others.
