Chapter 725: Chapter 725: Just Hitting You (Part 1)

Standing to the side, Shirley Ewing and Fiona Wright exchanged a look, their eyes filled with astonishment. They didn’t believe a word of the dean’s righteous speech, because they could tell that before he took that call, he had genuinely intended to expel them.

But now, after a single phone call, his attitude had done a complete one-eighty. They were both extremely curious about what was said on that call.

Laura White instantly grew anxious. "They’re the ones who should be expelled, not me!"

She then looked at Secretary Archer and demanded, "Quick, tell the dean he can’t expel me!"

Secretary Archer stood up, grabbed the Dean of Students, and said, "You’re a smart man. You should know the consequences of doing this! Change that form right now, or you’ll have hell to pay!"

"Well, now. Who’s this, daring to run wild in the Dean’s Office at Veridia University? I’ve really seen it all today!" A lazy voice, dripping with sarcasm, suddenly spoke up.

Laura White’s expression changed the moment she heard that voice. She recognized it immediately—it was Sheldon Caldwell.

In the next instant, she saw Sheldon Caldwell walking over. Behind him was another young man who looked so cold he was practically glacial.

Then she saw Vera Xavier walk up to that young man and ask, "What are you doing here?"

Nathaniel Nathan had originally planned to handle this matter himself, but since it involved Sheldon Caldwell, he had called him to come along.

"My wife is getting bullied. How could I not show up?" Nathaniel Nathan looked her over. Seeing that she wasn’t the least bit disheveled and seemed perfectly composed, he reached out, stroked her head, and asked, "Did you lose out at all?"

"Not at all. I got into a fight with her, and I won," Vera Xavier said with a grin. "It’s just frustrating. She slandered me, and it really ticks me off."

When she had called him earlier, she knew he would handle the matter, but she hadn’t known how. Now, seeing him show up in person, a warmth spread through her heart.

Nathaniel Nathan shot a glance at Laura White. When she met his frosty gaze, she shivered involuntarily. She had a distinct feeling that the man before her was incredibly dangerous.

Meanwhile, Shirley Ewing’s eyes were sparkling as she whispered to Fiona Wright, "So that’s Vera’s boyfriend?"

"Yep," Fiona Wright whispered back. "Super handsome, right?"

Shirley Ewing nodded furiously. "I thought our Chief Instructor was already handsome, but he’s nothing compared to Vera’s boyfriend!"

Although the two were whispering, the dean’s office wasn’t large, and Sheldon Caldwell had sharp hearing. He caught their conversation instantly and shot them a glare. The two girls subconsciously snapped to attention, standing ramrod straight and not daring to move a muscle.

Over the past few days, Sheldon Caldwell had established a powerful air of authority among the students. Of all the freshmen, Vera Xavier was likely the only one who wasn’t afraid of him.

Sheldon Caldwell turned his gaze to Laura White. "I hear you’ve been telling people that Vera Xavier and I are having an affair?"

He had been in a foul mood today and hadn’t wanted to get involved in anything, but then Nathaniel Nathan had sought him out. The moment he heard what it was about, he exploded with anger.

If he had actually been interested in Vera Xavier, he might have felt a little guilty. But he’d never, from start to finish, had a single romantic thought about her. To then be accused of having an affair with her... it was simply intolerable!
