Chapter 678 - 331: You Got a Problem With Me?

Chapter 678: Chapter 331: You Got a Problem With Me?

"N-Nothing! I didn’t say anything!"

Sun Yang immediately stood up straight.

"Instructor, I’m listening attentively!"

"I hope so!"

Wei Zhuang shot him a glance and continued.

"Li Chang’an, as the Captain, you’re in command.

You might encounter elite Insect Race units during the battle, especially a commander deep inside the nest. Its combat strength is not to be underestimated. You must give it your all!"

"Understood!"

Li Chang’an nodded.

"Sun Yang, make sure your fire support is on point. Don’t screw up!"

Wei Zhuang pointed at Sun Yang.

"Yes, yes, yes! I guarantee I’ll complete the mission!"

Sun Yang nodded hastily.

"Han Ruoxi, Shen Qiuyue, you’re responsible for the front line and flank cover!"

Wei Zhuang continued.

"Bai Lin, you’re on tech support. Crack the nest’s outer defense systems!"

"Understood!"

The group replied in unison.

"All right, prepare to begin!"

Wei Zhuang pressed a button. The holographic projection of the map grew more complex, showing every detail of the Insect Race nest with perfect clarity.

"You only get one shot at this simulation. Screw it up, and you can look forward to running another twenty laps tonight!"

Sun Yang’s face immediately fell.

"Instructor, can we stop with the threats about running laps? It’s getting unoriginal!"

Wei Zhuang gave him a cold look.

"I can switch it to push-ups. Want to give that a try?"

"Never mind, never mind! I’ll shut up!"

Sun Yang immediately lowered his head, feigning obedience.

"Begin the operation!"

At Wei Zhuang’s command, the Insect Hunter Squad immediately dove into the simulated battle.

During the simulation, the team worked together seamlessly. Although Sun Yang sometimes held them back a bit, things went smoothly overall.

In the end, they successfully completed the mission, but everyone was exhausted and drenched in sweat.

After the training ended, Sun Yang complained while rubbing his shoulders.

"I knew it. None of these instructors are kind-hearted. Making us this exhausted over a mere simulation!"

"Oh, come on. Weren’t you going all out just now?"

Han Ruoxi said with a laugh.

"It’s a good thing we had your fire support, or we really wouldn’t have made it inside!"

"Of course!"

Sun Yang perked up instantly.

"Who do you think I am? I’m the pillar of this team!"

"Then the pillar of the team should stop complaining so much!"

Li Chang’an walked over.

"Hurry back and rest. There’s more training tomorrow!"

"Captain, we really don’t have to run tomorrow, do we?"

Sun Yang looked at him with a pitiful expression.

"You’ll have to ask the instructor about that!"

Li Chang’an glanced at him and walked straight out.

After dinner, the group dragged their exhausted bodies back to the dorm.

The moment he walked through the door, Sun Yang flopped onto the sofa with a long sigh.

"I’m telling you guys, my body is seriously about to fall apart! Bai Lin, quick, check me over. I think all that running might have shaken my bones loose!"

Bai Lin, who was sitting in a corner debugging some equipment, looked up at his words and frowned.

"Don’t you always boast about how great your physique is? Why are you being so melodramatic now?"

"That’s just for show! I wouldn’t tough it out if something was really wrong!"

Sun Yang shouted while rubbing his leg.

"Bai Lin, you have no sympathy at all! I’m worked to the bone today. Shouldn’t you at least be a little concerned about my physical condition?"

"You’re fine."

Bai Lin glanced at him before lowering his head to continue working on the equipment.

"If there was really something wrong with you, you would have collapsed on the training grounds!"

"Hey! You don’t sound very sincere when you say that!"

Sun Yang rolled over, leaned against the back of the sofa, and yelled to Li Chang’an, who was taking off his gear.

"Captain, be fair. Don’t you think I’m being a little neglected? I have it the worst on this team, don’t I?"

"When have you not had it the worst?"

Li Chang’an hung his Saw Chain Sword on the weapon rack on the wall without turning his head.

"If you really think you have it so bad, you can try switching squads. See if another captain is more ’concerned’ about you!"

Hearing this, Sun Yang immediately sat up on the sofa, looking nervous.

"No, no, no! Captain, we have a life-or-death bond! What’s this talk about switching squads? I was just kidding, don’t take it seriously!"

"Who has a life-or-death bond with you?"

Shen Qiuyue cut in coldly, her head bowed as she polished her Dueling Sword.

"In the last simulation, weren’t you the one running faster than anyone else? You nearly left Han Ruoxi behind. If the Captain hadn’t given orders in time, you would’ve gotten her killed!"

"Sister Qiuyue! I don’t like hearing you say that!"

Sun Yang looked aggrieved.

"That was a tactical arrangement! How could I possibly abandon a teammate? This is a complete misunderstanding!"

"A misunderstanding?"

Shen Qiuyue looked up and shot him a glance.

"If the Captain hadn’t warned you, your shot probably would have taken out Ruo Xi, too!"

"Hey, hey, hey! Stop dredging up the past!"

Sun Yang waved his hands, looking anxious.

"It was an accident! Do you understand? An accident! Besides, Ruo Xi is fine, isn’t she?"

"Sun Yang!"

Han Ruoxi walked past, placed her Electric Power Bracelet on the table, and said in a lazy tone.

"If you really feel that guilty, you can treat me to some good food. The roasted meat in the cafeteria earlier was a bit small. I didn’t get enough!"

"Eat, eat, eat! All you think about is eating!"

Sun Yang slapped his thigh.

"Fine! To make up for my ’mistake,’ I’ll get you some snacks later. The imported alien kind. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied!"

"You said it!"

A smile tugged at the corner of Han Ruoxi’s mouth.

"Don’t go telling me you’re broke when the time comes!"

"Who says I’m broke?"

Sun Yang looked indignant.

"How could I, Sun Yang, possibly be poor? I’ll show you my account balance later!"

"Alright, I’ll be waiting then!"

Han Ruoxi nodded, grabbing a bottle of water and sitting down to the side.

After chatting for a while, Bai Lin suddenly looked up from his screen, frowning.

"Captain, I just received an encrypted transmission. Looks like an urgent mission from the higher-ups!"

"An urgent mission?"

Li Chang’an walked over and stood behind Bai Lin.

"What are the details?"

Bai Lin’s fingers flew across the keyboard. A few seconds later, the communication interface popped up.

He pulled up a mission brief.

"The target is an abandoned mining area in the northern region of Lion’s Fang Star.

The Rebel Army faction ’Dark Star’ has been active in that area recently. The higher-ups suspect they’ve established a temporary base there and need us to reconnoiter the situation!"

"A recon mission?"

Li Chang’an frowned.

"Are there any details on the enemy’s force composition?"

"No clear intel at the moment!"

Bai Lin shook his head.

"But judging by the encryption level, this mission might not be simple!"

"Rebels..." Hearing those words, Sun Yang’s face lit up with excitement.

"Finally, a chance to fight those guys! I’ve had it with them. All they do is launch sneak attacks and collude with the Insect Race. Do they really think no one can put them in their place?"

"Don’t get too excited!"

Li Chang’an glanced at him.

"A recon mission is primarily about stealth. If we have to engage, it will depend on the situation!"

"Captain, I don’t like the sound of that!"

Sun Yang stood up and rolled his shoulders.

"The Insect Hunter Squad isn’t a bunch of pushovers! Besides, this Dark Star Rebel Army isn’t a big deal. If we run into them, we’ll just take them down!"

"Your mouth... can you stop thinking about fighting and killing all the time?"

Shen Qiuyue said coldly.

"You said the same thing about that elite from the Insect Race last time, and you almost got your neck bitten off!"

"Sister Qiuyue! You’re bringing up old scores again!"

Sun Yang looked exasperated.

"I survived, didn’t I? Besides, the Captain’s command was excellent back then. How could anything have happened to me!"

"That’s enough!"

Li Chang’an waved his hand, cutting off their bickering.

"Get your gear ready. We leave in ten minutes!"

The group sprang into action, each member preparing their equipment.

Sun Yang muttered to himself as he checked his Pulse Gun.

"We’ve got to be low-key on this mission, Captain. If we have to run another twenty laps when we get back, my old back will really be done for!"

"Your back isn’t done for yet?"

Han Ruoxi walked by, raising an eyebrow.

"You seemed to be running pretty fast earlier."

"That was just an act!"

Sun Yang waved his hand dismissively.

"I put on a brave face, but deep down, I’m suffering!"

"Less talk, more action!"

Li Chang’an slung his Saw Chain Sword over his back, already fully equipped and ready to go.

"Bai Lin, mark the detailed route. Don’t take a wrong turn!"
