Chapter 747 - 366: Do as I Say

Chapter 747: Chapter 366: Do as I Say

"Captain, isn’t it too dangerous for you to go alone? Why don’t I go with you?"

Han Ruoxi frowned, clearly worried.

"Don’t worry. I know how to handle this better than any of you.

Just do as I say. Don’t waste time!"

Li Chang’an’s tone was calm, yet left no room for argument.

"Alright..."

Han Ruoxi muttered under her breath before following Sun Yang in one direction.

Meanwhile, Shen Qiuyue and Bai Lin moved quickly in the other direction.

The mining area was deathly silent, save for the occasional gust of wind. The oppressive atmosphere was enough to make one’s skin crawl.

"Sun Yang, can you slow down? Something feels really off about this place. Aren’t you afraid of walking right into an Insect Race trap?"

Han Ruoxi complained as she walked.

"What’s there to fear? I’m here. Even if we do run into the Insect Race, there’s nothing to worry about!"

Sun Yang looked back and gave her a smile, but his hand gripping the Pulse Gun tightened subconsciously.

"Yeah, right. Keep talking big. Let’s see if you’re still smiling when we’re actually in trouble!"

Han Ruoxi rolled her eyes.

After they had walked about a hundred meters, they suddenly heard a faint rustling sound up ahead, as if something was crawling across the ground.

"Did you hear that?"

Han Ruoxi stopped and asked in a hushed voice.

"I heard it. Stay calm!"

Sun Yang raised his Pulse Gun and cautiously approached the source of the sound.

The rustling grew louder, and a Black Shadow suddenly shot out from behind a pile of rocks, lunging straight for Sun Yang.

Sun Yang reacted in a flash. He pulled the trigger of his Pulse Gun, and a beam of blue Energy shot out, striking the Black Shadow dead-on.

"Low-tier Insect Race! There aren’t many of them!"

Sun Yang breathed a sigh of relief.

"Looks like it was just a scout!"

"Don’t let your guard down. They rarely operate alone!"

Han Ruoxi scanned her surroundings vigilantly, a faint arc of electricity crackling in her palm.

Before the words were even out of her mouth, several more insects burst out from all sides, moving with incredible speed as they zeroed in on the duo.

Han Ruoxi instantly unleashed a current of electricity, knocking back the nearest insect as she shouted.

"Sun Yang, take them out, quickly! Don’t waste time!"

"Don’t worry! Just watch me!"

Sun Yang leveled his Pulse Gun and fired off several rapid Energy Shots, instantly killing the two insects leading the charge.

Meanwhile, Shen Qiuyue and Bai Lin had run into a similar situation.

The High-Energy Dueling Sword in Shen Qiuyue’s hand shimmered faintly. Her strikes were clean and decisive, and she quickly dispatched several Low-Tier Insects.

"These insects’ attacks are disorganized. It’s like they’re just testing our reactions!"

Bai Lin observed calmly from the side.

"Whatever their purpose is, we just need to finish them off quickly!"

Shen Qiuyue said no more, simply continuing to cut the creatures down with her sword.

Meanwhile, Li Chang’an had arrived alone at a clearing in the center of the mining area.

His movements were incredibly light and nimble. He didn’t make a sound.

He had only taken a few steps when he suddenly froze.

On the rock wall ahead, there was a strange pattern, like some kind of marking from the Insect Race.

Li Chang’an frowned slightly. He raised the Saw Chain Sword in his hand and slowly approached.

The moment he drew near, there was a sudden stir from behind the rock wall. A monster far larger than an ordinary Low-Tier Insect crawled out slowly, its carapace gleaming with a dark red sheen.

"A Middle-tier Insect?"

Li Chang’an muttered to himself, tightening his grip on his Saw Chain Sword.

The Middle-tier Insect clearly sensed the threat. It opened its sharp-fanged maw and lunged at Li Chang’an.

Li Chang’an sidestepped the attack, his Saw Chain Sword slicing precisely across its flank and creating a jarring, scraping sound.

The insect shrieked in pain, its movements growing even more frenzied.

Li Chang’an’s gaze remained calm. With one strike after another, he gradually seized control of the battle’s rhythm.

A few minutes later, the Middle-tier Insect crashed to the ground, motionless.

After finishing off the Middle-tier Insect, Li Chang’an didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he quickly scanned the surrounding area.

He crouched down and brushed away some rubble on the ground, discovering traces of what looked like insect secretions.

The substance gave off a faint, acrid smell and looked like it had been left recently.

"Just as I thought. Something’s not right."

He muttered to himself, then activated his terminal to log the situation. At the same time, he contacted the others over his communicator.

"Situation has changed. All squads, report in!"

Sun Yang’s voice soon came through, slightly breathless.

"Captain, we just finished off a group of Low-Tier Insects over here, about seven or eight of them. No sign of any higher-tier ones for now!"

"Same here. Similar numbers, but we haven’t found any unusual terrain or markings."

Shen Qiuyue’s tone was as calm as ever.

"Alright. Regroup and converge on my position immediately. I’m in the center of the mining area. I’ve found something suspicious."

Li Chang’an ordered decisively.

"Copy that, on our way!"

They responded in unison.

Sun Yang dusted himself off and turned to Han Ruoxi.

"Let’s go, the Captain’s calling. I hope he doesn’t have some other special test for us this time!"

"Just stop talking nonsense and hurry up.

If the Captain is calling us over, it must be important!"

Han Ruoxi shot him an irritated glare and quickened her pace.

A few minutes later, everyone had gathered at Li Chang’an’s position.

Seeing the insect carcass on the ground and the strange markings on the rock wall, Sun Yang immediately cried out in surprise.

"Captain, you took down a beast this big all by yourself? This is a Middle-tier Insect, isn’t it?"

"It is."

Li Chang’an nodded and then pointed to the markings on the rock wall.

"Look at this. It seems to be some kind of marking from the Insect Race, possibly a signal for their activities here.
