Chapter 1083: Chapter 1083: Killing People In The Dark
Princess Huahua smiled happily after hearing all the sweet compliments, purring softly.
It was not long at all before Bai Xifeng comfortably drifted off into a deep sleep. She had always been the enviable type who could fall asleep almost anywhere in seconds, regardless of her noisy surroundings.
Soon afterwards, everyone else also fell fast asleep one after another under the quiet night, leaving only Princess Huahua standing guard attentively beneath the serene, starry sky.
....
’Xifeng... Xifeng...’ Princess Huahua’s gentle, urgent voice suddenly echoed directly inside Bai Xifeng’s mind through their mental telepathic connection.
Bai Xifeng slowly opened her heavy eyes and rubbed them sleepily with the back of her hand.
"Princess Huahua... Is it already morning?" Bai Xifeng asked in a hazy whisper, still half asleep.
"No... It’s still the middle of the night." Princess Huahua replied softly into her mind.
"Then why did you wake me up?" Bai Xifeng asked again, suppressing a small yawn.
"Something happened nearby." Princess Huahua answered, her tone turning completely serious.
"What? What happened?" Bai Xifeng’s residual sleepiness instantly faded away, her dark eyes sharpening in an instant.
"Over there." Princess Huahua tilted her large head toward the deep, pitch-black forest in the distance. "I sensed something highly unusual. It sounds like... a group of people are ruthlessly killing each other."
Bai Xifeng immediately extended and focused her spiritual sense toward the exact direction Princess Huahua indicated.
Princess Huahua’s sharp instinct was completely spot-on. Not too far away from their campsite, two groups of people were locked in a fierce, bloody battle. The distant, muffled sounds of clashing steel weapons, agonised screams, and violent spiritual qi explosions echoed faintly through the silent night forest. She quickly and meticulously observed the distant situation with her spiritual vision.
One side consisted of roughly twenty heavily armed, ruthless attackers, all swarming forward and striking relentlessly. The opposing, desperate side had only eight surviving fighters struggling to protect a single wooden carriage. Including the young woman and the terrified little girl hiding inside the carriage cabin, there were only ten people altogether. Several of their fallen companions were already lying motionless, their lifeless bodies scattered across the blood-stained grass.
Bai Xifeng could clearly see a pale woman inside the carriage desperately hugging and comforting a crying, frightened little girl, while the few remaining guards desperately formed a tight defensive circle around the carriage, risking their lives to keep the wave of attackers away.
Bai Xifeng carefully and silently stood up from the grass, making sure not to wake any of her tired, sleeping friends nearby.
"Xifeng, are you going to help them?" Princess Huahua asked quietly, looking at her.
"Hmm..." Bai Xifeng nodded firmly. "You stay right here and protect everyone while they sleep."
"Yes, Xifeng. Please be extra careful out there." Princess Huahua said worriedly.
"Don’t worry, I will be careful." Bai Xifeng stated.
Bai Xifeng gave the panda a quick pat before silently disappearing into the pitch-black darkness, moving like a phantom as she swiftly headed toward the active battlefield. The closer she got to the scene, the clearer and more gruesome the situation became.
Princess Huahua’s initial judgment had been completely accurate. This was absolutely not a battle between equals. It was a cruel, one-sided slaughter. The larger, brutal group was mercilessly hunting down the outnumbered defenders, showing absolutely zero intention of leaving a single survivor alive tonight.
Without wasting another single second, Bai Xifeng casually flipped her slender wrist and pulled out a high-tier offensive attack rune from her spatial ring.
The exact moment her pure spiritual energy flowed into the parchment, the ancient rune instantly flared with a bright, hidden power. She flicked her fingers with lethal grace. The activated rune shot completely silently through the darkness, vanishing cleanly into thin air above the clearing.
In the very next instant, four blazing, radiant spiritual arrows suddenly materialised out of nowhere high above the chaotic battlefield, glowing with terrifying killing intent.
Whoosh!
Before any of the violent attackers could even react or look up, the four light arrows streaked downward like lightning bolts of divine judgment. They pierced straight through the heads of four charging attackers with frightening, deadly precision!
Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
Their lifeless bodies instantly collapsed hard onto the bloodied ground almost simultaneously, dying in a split second before they even realised what had struck them. Everyone present on the battlefield was instantly stunned into dead silence. The remaining attackers watched in sheer, wide-eyed shock as four of their strong comrades suddenly dropped dead without even having the time or chance to let out a single scream.
The leader of the mercenary attackers immediately became razor-sharp vigilant, his heart pounding in his chest. His sharp, panicked eyes swept frantically across the dark surrounding forest.
Someone was hiding in the shadows. Someone powerful had silently and effortlessly killed four of his men in the blink of an eye.
"You! Coward in the dark!" The leader shouted furiously into the trees, his voice laced with anger and underlying panic. "Come out right now!"
Bai Xifeng, sitting comfortably hidden high up on a thick tree branch, naturally pretended not to hear his angry demands at all. Without giving the attackers even a single moment to recover from the shock or reform their defensive formation, she calmly activated another offensive rune in her hand.
Whoosh!
Four more brilliant spiritual arrows shot out from the pitch-black darkness above like falling stars. The remaining four designated targets did not even have enough time to react or raise their weapons before the radiant arrows pierced straight through their heads with flawless, lethal accuracy.
Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!
One after another, their heavy bodies fell dead onto the grass.
