Chapter 1088: Chapter 1088: Bring Zhang Family To Their Camp

"Xifeng! Where on earth have you been all night?" Xie Lanying asked anxiously, looking her up and down the second she saw her.

"Yeah! We were thoroughly startled when we woke up and did not see you anywhere nearby." Xie Yanlin added, shaking his head.

"Come on, guys, it is Xifeng we are talking about." Ning Shoukai simply shrugged his shoulders with a nonchalant grin. "Do we really ever need to worry about her safety? Honestly, I’d be far more worried about whatever poor soul ran into her in the dark!"

Smack!

Xie Lanying instantly reached out and smacked Ning Shoukai hard right across the back.

"Ouch!" Ning Shoukai rubbed his sore back with a deeply pained expression, glaring at her with teary eyes. "What was that for?!"

"Don’t open your mouth if you don’t know how to speak properly!" Xie Lanying scolded him sharply, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Lanying, I swear, if you hit me one more time, I will..." Ning Shoukai began to protest loudly, puffing out his chest.

Before he could even finish his dramatic sentence, Xie Lanying cut him off with a ruthless smirk.

"You will what?" Xie Lanying challenged, raising one eyebrow dangerously. "Want to beat me? Fine by me! Let me, and you spar right here, right now."

Hearing those terrifying, absolute words, Ning Shoukai’s confident face instantly stiffened, his bravado deflating in a single second.

"N-No... No way... I definitely don’t want to spar with you." Ning Shoukai rejected the horrifying idea without the slightest second of hesitation, shaking his head like a fan.

"Then shut your mouth!" Xie Lanying snorted triumphantly.

Ning Shoukai obediently zipped his lips shut, not daring to utter a single word more, causing everyone standing nearby to burst into quiet, amused chuckles.

"Sister Xifeng, who are these people?" Xie Qingge asked gently after noticing the unfamiliar, weary group standing respectfully behind Bai Xifeng.

"Oh..." Bai Xifeng turned around and gestured toward them. "This is Sir Zhang Zhenyu and his family. They unfortunately encountered some serious trouble on the road nearby, and I happened to run into them, so I lent them a helping hand."

She then smoothly continued her explanation.

"Sir Zhang asked me to escort his family safely to Shiwi Town, and I agreed to do so." Bai Xifeng looked toward her friends before adding thoughtfully, "If any of you don’t want to delay your own travel plans because of this detour, you can go on ahead without me. We can always meet up at our destination later."

"No way!" Ning Shoukai was the absolute first to object loudly. "I’m definitely sticking with you!"

"That’s right." Xie Lanying nodded firmly, offering no room for debate. "We are all travelling together as a team, Xifeng."

"Besides, the more people we have, the safer everyone will be if another attack happens." Xie Zixin added with a warm, supportive smile.

"Plus..." Xie Yanlin chimed in with a wide grin, "I have a strong feeling this journey is going to become much more interesting from here on out!"

"We are already travelling together anyway! Adding one more family along for the ride would not make much of a difference." Xie Qingge nodded enthusiastically in full agreement.

Hearing her friends’ unanimous, unconditional decision, Bai Xifeng smiled helplessly before softly shaking her head in affection.

"Fine, fine... Since all of you have already made up your minds, let’s all travel together then." Bai Xifeng stated.

Zhang Zhenyu, his wife, and his guards exchanged deeply moved, grateful glances with one another before respectfully cupping their hands toward the group.

"Thank you, everyone! We are immensely grateful for your kindness." Zhang Zhenyu stated, thanking those young people.

The once-tense atmosphere in the clearing immediately became much more relaxed and cheerful. After introducing themselves to one another and sharing some warm morning tea, Zhang Zhenyu’s exhausted group finally sat down around the campfire to catch their breath and recover, while Bai Xifeng and her friends happily began making preparations for the next leg of their exciting journey!

During their warm conversation over breakfast, Zhang Zhenyu finally learned that these remarkably talented young people were all currently students from the prestigious Tianlong School. Through their casual chatter, he also found out that the renowned academy had been temporarily closed for an entire month to undergo extensive safety maintenance and structural repairs.

Having travelled extensively for his merchant business, Zhang Zhenyu had naturally heard the wild rumours spreading like wildfire throughout the surrounding cities over the past two days. According to those rumours, a legendary, ancient Beast King had suddenly undergone its terrifying heavenly tribulation directly within the grounds of Tianlong School, attracting countless powerful experts and grand factions from all across the continent. Those formidable figures had rushed to the school in hopes of taming, contracting, or simply witnessing the birth of the newly risen Beast King.

After silently putting all the pieces of the puzzle together in his mind, Zhang Zhenyu could more or less guess the shocking truth. The elite school’s sudden, unprecedented closure was most likely a direct consequence of that terrifying, world-shaking incident.

Meanwhile, during the time Bai Xifeng had slipped away into the night to investigate the distant commotion, Xie Lanying and the others had already gotten up early to prepare a hearty breakfast. They had simply been patiently waiting for Bai Xifeng to return to camp before serving the hot meal.

Seeing Zhang Zhenyu’s weary family and his guards standing respectfully nearby, Xie Lanying offered them a warm, welcoming smile.

"Please, come sit down and eat with us!" Xie Lanying stated.

"Yes, don’t be shy! We’ve prepared more than enough food for everyone." Xie Qingge added cheerfully, gesturing toward the campfire.
