Chapter 1142: Hungry

Chapter 1142: Chapter 1142: Hungry

As for Bai Xifeng herself, she was currently having a grand time, happily strolling through the bustling streets of the Capital City with a relaxed smile. She had no idea about the ministers’ profound disappointment, nor would she have cared a single bit even if she did.

However, while she was leisurely enjoying her stroll around the city alongside Xiao Li, her stomach suddenly let out a low rumble, issuing a sharp warning that something was terribly wrong. She was starving.

"Xiao Li, my stomach is complaining. Let’s go find a nice restaurant right now. I need to eat some proper lunch." Bai Xifeng announced, holding her hand over her tummy.

She had barely touched her morning meal earlier at breakfast. That was precisely why her appetite was rearing its head so unusually early in the day.

Bai Xifeng was someone who enjoyed eating quite a large quantity of food, especially whenever the dishes tasted extraordinary. Having eaten so sparingly in the morning naturally meant her stomach would start issuing angry complaints long before the usual lunchtime hour arrived.

Xiao Li immediately looked around the busy commercial street, scanning the rows of shops. Her eyes quickly landed on a magnificent, towering establishment situated just a short distance away from where they stood.

"Young Miss, look over there! There is a massive restaurant right across the street." Xiao Li said, pointing toward the building.

"Great, let’s head over." Bai Xifeng said with a nod.

The restaurant stood proudly at three stories high, exuding an air of grandeur and luxury that looked exceptionally impressive even from the outside. The architectural structure itself was exquisitely carved and lavishly decorated, with a constant, bustling stream of well-dressed patrons entering and leaving through its polished wooden doors.

However, just as Bai Xifeng was about to step across the threshold into the main entrance, her path was suddenly blocked by a group of wealthy young men standing around the doorway. They turned their eyes onto Bai Xifeng and Xiao Li, scanning the pair from head to toe with smirking faces.

"Well, hello there, gorgeous. Are you two planning to grab a bite here? I hate to break it to you, but I don’t think you will be able to get a table." One of the young men said with a smug grin.

"Though if you are really that eager to dine here, you are more than welcome to join our group instead! We just so happened to reserve a private dining room upstairs." Another young noble chimed in, tossing a boastful smile in their direction.

Xiao Li raised her eyes slightly, reading the gilded wooden sign hung high above the entrance doors. The moment the name registered in her mind, her eyes widened as she instantly recalled everything about this particular establishment.

This was none other than the famous Suyoung Restaurant, the most ridiculously expensive dining house in the entire Capital City! Not only were its prices astronomical, but the restaurant also operated under a rather bizarre, notorious set of rules.

Customers were required to pay an exorbitant fee just to step foot through the front door! An entry fee, pure and simple. And that initial entry payment did not even cover a single plate of food! Even after paying that hefty sum just to walk inside, patrons still had to pay full price for whatever dishes and tea they ordered off the menu. Yet, despite such absurdly predatory rules, the establishment was packed to the brim every single day.

The sheer popularity of this restaurant was nothing short of ridiculous. Nobles and wealthy merchants were more than willing to fork over such outrageous sums of money just for the prestige of dining within its walls.

On top of that, prospective diners were required to book their tables days in advance. The restaurant would ruthlessly turn away anyone who turned up without a prior reservation.

Recognizing the situation, Xiao Li quickly grabbed hold of Bai Xifeng’s hand and leaned in close, whispering a few urgent words directly into her young miss’s ear.

Watching the two girls whisper, the group of young men finally took a proper look at Xiao Li’s face.

A few of them suddenly froze as recognition flashed across their eyes. They were well aware of Xiao Li’s identity, and more importantly, they knew about her formidable personal strength and background.

Ever since Bai Xifeng had departed from the Capital City previously, Xiao Li had undergone a complete, startling transformation. She had grown far more confident, sharp, and exceedingly ruthless when managing business affairs around the city. She was no longer that timid, helpless servant girl who would tremble and hesitate before daring to speak a single word aloud.

And when they heard Xiao Li address the stunning girl beside her as "Young Miss," the young men’s faces instantly went pale as they finally recognised who the other maiden was as well.

Xiao Li called one person, and absolutely one person only, by that revered title. That person was none other than Bai Xifeng herself, the legendary, fiery young lady who had become the entire Capital’s hottest topic of conversation since yesterday!

"Wait... what?! Are you serious?!" Bai Xifeng gasped, looking at Xiao Li in sheer, unadulterated surprise. She turned her head to cast a disgusted look at the grand building before continuing, "Look, I can tolerate a place being ridiculously expensive. But serving garbage, terrible-tasting food?! Hell no! Mm... forget it then, let’s get out of here."

What Xiao Li had just whispered to Bai Xifeng was that the food in this famous restaurant tasted utterly dreadful despite its astronomical price tag. In Xiao Li’s blunt opinion, wasting even a single copper coin here was an absolute rip-off.
