Chapter 1145: Chapter 1145: Strike A Deal With The Restaurant
Instead of agreeing with the waiter, the three young men began contemplating Bai Xifeng’s proposal with intense, serious consideration.
"You know what? That’s actually brilliant! We would not have to waste any time setting up camp and cooking on the road. We can just pop open a sealed container and dig right in!" Ning Shoukai nodded enthusiastically, finding the convenience utterly glorious.
"Brilliant idea, Xifeng." Xie Jingguo gave her an approving thumbs-up.
Xie Yanlin nodded in agreement as well, recognising that bringing pre-made, high-quality dishes would indeed save them a world of trouble and hassle during their travels.
The waiter stood before the four of them, completely dumbfounded and speechless. Wasn’t packing simple, non-perishable dry rations the universal standard for traveling cultivators?!
Why were these wealthy young masters and their lady treating the idea of ordering a mountain of gourmet restaurant meals in advance like it was the most natural breakthrough of the century?!
Before the waiter could process the absurdity of it all, the three young men turned their focus onto him.
"Where is your manager? We’d like to discuss a bulk custom order with him directly." Xie Yanlin instructed.
"R-Right away, sir! I will fetch the manager immediately!" The waiter responded hastily.
He practically sprinted toward the back rooms to summon his manager, a strong gut feeling telling him that a massive financial transaction was about to go down.
After all, judging from the jaw-dropping spectacle he had just witnessed over the past two hours, this young lady was definitely not someone who did anything in small quantities.
The waiter could not help but offer a silent moment of sympathy for the exhausted kitchen staff in the back.
They had literally just spent two unbroken hours slaving over hot stoves to feed this single table.
And now, they were about to get hit with an even bigger culinary storm!
The manager finally emerged from the back and made his way over to their table. The instant he arrived, he greeted them with an immensely enthusiastic, polished smile.
"Dear guests, thank you so much for your generous patronage!" The manager greeted them warmly. "I heard that you requested to see me. Is there anything about our service or food today that you are dissatisfied with? If there is any flaw, please let me know. We will do our utmost to rectify it immediately."
"No, no, no... It is actually quite the opposite." Bai Xifeng shook her head. Then, with a twinkle in her eye, she continued, "Actually, there is a business matter I’d like to consult you about."
The manager’s sharp ears picked up on a potential business opportunity right away. His eyes brightened slightly, and he nodded in quick understanding.
"In that case, let’s change our location! We can discuss this in a quiet, private room where we can talk far more comfortably." The manager suggested graciously.
"Alright." Bai Xifeng nodded. She then turned back to her companions and waved her hand. "Let’s go."
Ning Shoukai, Xie Yanlin, and Xie Jingguo immediately stood up to follow them into the private room. Since Bai Xifeng had a specific proposal to pitch to the manager, they were naturally brimming with curiosity to see what scheme she had cooked up this time. After all, judging from her usual unpredictable behaviour, she was certainly not someone who acted without a grander purpose.
Once they stepped into the luxurious, quiet room, everyone found a comfortable seat around the central tea table.
"Young Lady, what business matter would you like to discuss with me?" The manager asked politely, leaning in.
"Actually, I want to place a massive, bulk order for various kinds of cooked dishes." Bai Xifeng stated her intention directly.
"Oh? Are you planning to host some grand celebration, a feast, or a major event? If so, when will it take place?" The manager inquired, his mind already calculating the logistics.
"No, no, no... It’s nothing like that. We are setting off to leave the Capital City tomorrow morning, traveling all the way to Xianjiang City near the border. Therefore, we are hoping to bring a large stock of ready-to-eat restaurant meals with us for the long journey." Bai Xifeng explained smoothly.
"What?!" The manager gasped in sheer surprise upon hearing her answer. "Young Lady, freshly cooked dishes can only last for a single day at most before they turn sour and go bad! The arduous journey to Xianjiang City takes roughly one to two months! There is simply no physical way cooked food will survive that long!"
The manager could completely understand a traveller wanting good food on the road. However, ordering freshly made gourmet dishes in bulk the very day before a multi-month trek was something no sane restaurant owner would ever recommend! Even if his kitchen staff prepared every plate with the utmost care, the food would inevitably spoil into garbage after a day under the sun.
"Sir, you don’t need to worry about the preservation aspect at all. We have a guaranteed method to preserve the food and keep it piping hot and fresh for an indefinite period." Bai Xifeng grinned mischievously.
"Is that truly possible?" The manager asked, still deeply skeptical.
He eyed Bai Xifeng with a mix of suspicion and wonder, genuinely doubting whether a young girl like her possessed some secret preservation technique that the culinary world had never heard of before.
"Well, you should probably call your head chef over here to discuss the details, since he will be the one tasked with executing the order. If he assesses the situation and genuinely feels he cannot complete the order, or has any severe concerns, we can simply stop here." Bai Xifeng said with a nonchalant shrug.
