Chapter 607: WanEr HuLie
Outside the city gate, there were lines of farmers with their produce, merchants with their goods and rich visitors to the city in their horse carriages waiting to get in.
All of them turned their heads around when they heard one of the Qing Feng Sect disciples shouting.
"Quick, inform the Guardian of the City!" The Qing Feng Sect disciple shouted at the soldiers guarding the gate.
His face was bloodied and his cultivation robe was also smudged with dark spots of blood all over.
Behind him were several Qing Feng Sect disciples that were like him and they scanned around the surroundings with fear in their eyes and open mouths.
They were afraid of something that was coming after them.
The soldiers were stunned for a moment at the sudden change of events.
One moment they were frustrated with checking all those that were coming into the city in the summer heat, and the next moment, they were faced with such a situation.
None of them knew how to react next.
The farmers and merchants were the first to do something.
"Let us in right now! I don’t want to die out here!"
"Hurry, before it’s too late."
"Don’t stand there, go inform the Guardian of the City!"
The farmers and merchants still had memories of the rebels coming into the city and going on a killing spree.
It wasn’t so long ago that it happened and they thought that they could even smell the blood in the air already.
Neigh.
Those who were in their horse carriages didn’t wait any longer, their horses began to trot ahead towards the city.
Chaos ensued immediately.
The farmers and merchants who were on foot didn’t bother with their produce and goods anymore, they left their pushcarts or horse carts where they were and ran towards the city gates.
Panic-stricken, some of them tripped and fell while some of them bumped into each other.
"Look at them fleeing like ants." A man’s voice sounded in the air and a few figures slowly approached the city.
"WanEr HuLie, I’ll let you enjoy yourself for now, but remember our mission." Another man’s voice said.
WanEr HuLie replied with a smirk and said, "I will, Master JunGe DaLu."
They were burly and wore clothes that were made of animal fur that only covered their bodies.
Their arms were exposed with tattoos that looked like scriptures and designs that looked like different beasts.
"What are you waiting for!" The Qing Feng Sect disciple shouted at the soldiers and they finally responded.
One of them ran into the city while the other tried to let the farmers, merchants and others in.
"Are you coming in?" One of the soldiers shouted at the Qing Feng Sect disciples but there was no response.
They were already in a battle against their opponents.
"Is this all that the Da Qian cultivators can do?" WanEr HuLie said while he lunged at the Qing Feng Sect disciples by himself.
The Qing Feng Sect disciples thrust their swords at him and twirling winds shot out from their swords.
But he was much faster than they were, his body turned into a shimmer and he dodged all the twirling winds.
Crack.
The sound of bones cracking could be heard and a Qing Feng Sect disciple was flung into the air.
Then it was followed by a loud thud.
Another Qing Feng Sect disciple was hit in the next moment, sending him tumbling across the ground.
WanEr HuLie lunged at the remaining three Qing Feng Sect disciples who were stunned at what had happened in the blink of an eye.
His tattoos gave out a glow and the howling of a wolf could be heard when he threw punches at them.
Splatter.
Blood and flesh splattered out into the surroundings from the bodies of the Qing Feng Sect disciples and they dropped to the ground in the next moment.
None of them was a match for WanEr HuLie.
WanEr HuLie shook his head and the glow on his tattoos went away.
He turned around to his compatriots and said, "I was just getting warmed up."
After which, he spat on the ground and his compatriots laughed.
JunGe DaLu, who was their leader and the bulkiest among them all, stood at the back and said, "Don’t get drawn in, there’s no way we can get through the Formation Array and the Guardian of the City so easily.
"We shall see what the Guardian of the City is made of first.
"If he is someone we can take on, then maybe we can give it a try.
"And if not, remember, we are here to draw them out instead."
WanEr HuLie gave out a sigh and nodded his head at JunGe DaLu reluctantly.
"Yes, Master JunGe DaLu."
He didn’t have enough of it yet.
...
Lin Xuan Qi was still at the work site when he saw a soldier running through the streets shouting.
With his superior senses, he could hear the soldier from a distance and his eyebrows pulled together immediately.
"Get to safety, there are intruders at the gate!"
The soldier was out of breath after a while and he had to stop for a moment to rest.
Lin Xuan Qi quickly went over and asked, "Who are the intruders?"
"I am not too sure... but they looked like they were barbarians from the Da Mang Dynasty." The soldier, after catching his breath, didn’t linger around for too long and he headed towards Zhao Geng Nian’s residence.
"Everyone stop working! Get back to your homes quick." Lin Xuan Qi raised his hands at the workers and said.
His voice boomed in the air and the workers stopped what they were doing and they glanced at each other, not knowing what was going on.
It didn’t take them too long to find out.
Boom!
Zhao Geng Nian shot up into the air from his residence with Xiao Feng and a few other disciples.
That usually meant only one thing.
The city was under attack.
All of the workers quickly put down whatever they had in their hands and did what they were told.
Lin Xuan Qi helped Old Shao onto the horse carriage and got into it with him.
"Get us back to the mansion."
