Chapter 645: Banquet?

"Young master Lin?"

Old Heng, young master Chew and their friends were astonished when they heard what Qian Shi had said.

They knew each other? A flurry of thoughts came into their minds.

There was no way they had expected Lin Xuan Qi and the Duke of Mu to know each other.

However, before they could react to the discovery they had just made, Lin Xuan Qi took a step forward.

They gasped in fear that the soldiers would do something to him.

But Qian Shi had waved his hand at the soldiers, gesturing for them to let him pass.

And much to the astonishment of Old Heng and the others, the soldiers allowed Lin Xuan Qi to walk up next to the horse carriage.

"Your highness, so sorry for the sudden intrusion.

"I’m here to invite you to my mansion for a banquet with all the businessmen in Hong Feng City." Lin Xuan Qi cupped his hands at Qian Shi, bowed at him and said.

Qian Shi narrowed his eyes and frowned at him.

His image of Lin Xuan Qi was that Lin Xuan Qi was capable but had chosen to pursue wealth and money instead of contributing to the Da Qian Dynasty.

He couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of disappointment at Lin Xuan Qi.

Lin Xuan Qi saw his expression and figured out what Qian Shi was thinking about.

Their last conversation, which ended with Qian Shi trying to rope him in to help the Da Qian Dynasty in the imperial court, was still fresh in his mind.

He glanced at Qian Shi and whispered softly, "I know that it’s a little abrupt, but I have something important for you to know.

"Something which would contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Da Qian Dynasty."

"Peace and prosperity of the Da Qian Dynasty?" Qian Shi said with a deep frown.

He didn’t know what Lin Xuan Qi was up to.

"Things are much more complicated than they seem and I have information that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.

"My friends who are among the best businessmen in Hong Feng would be glad if you could come to the banquet in my mansion." Lin Xuan Qi saw the doubts in Qian Shi’s eyes and he tried to persuade Qian Shi with as much information as he could.

If he had the choice, he would have told everything to Qian Shi right there at that moment.

But it was not in his favor to do so.

The Qing Feng Sect disciples were most probably snooping around and eavesdropping on what they were talking about.

Lin Xuan Qi could only try and phrase it as if he was talking about a business deal.

Qian Shi narrowed his eyes, glanced at Lin Xuan Qi and gave out a sigh.

He didn’t know what Lin Xuan Qi was talking about, but he was willing to give him one last chance.

If Lin Xuan Qi turned out to be the money and wealth loving businessman without any loyalty for the Da Qian Dynasty, he wouldn’t want to have anything much to do with Lin Xuan Qi in the future.

After a few moments of silence, Qian Shi opened his mouth and asked, "When is the banquet?"

"Now." Lin Xuan Qi said and glanced at Qian Shi with a determined look.

It was best for him to do so now, as he might not be able to come into contact with Qian Shi again once Qian Shi met with the Governor or Zhao Geng Nian.

The Qing Feng Sect might already have plans to isolate Qian Shi from anyone else once he arrived in Hong Feng City.

"I assure you that the food wouldn’t disappoint." He said and cupped his hands at Qian Shi again.

"I am on my way to the Governor’s Residence and if I go to your mansion first instead, all of the planning and schedule would be messed up." Qian Shi said but Lin Xuan Qi’s eyes did not waver.

"I insist that you enjoy the banquet first." Lin Xuan Qi said.

And that got Qian Shi thinking.

Lin Xuan Qi wouldn’t make such a fuss and put so much risk on himself if he wanted to tell Qian Shi something trivial.

From what he remembered, Lin Xuan Qi was one that gave a customary reply and did not commit himself to anything whenever he could.

But right now, he was doing something that was drastically different.

Finally, Qian Shi relented and he said, "Fine, I will make my way to your mansion first."

"Your highness, but the Governor is waiting...."

"Don’t worry about the Governor. Send someone to inform the Governor first."

The eunuchs were in a frenzy when they heard Qian Shi change his destination.

It was out of their plan and it made them panic.

They glanced at Lin Xuan Qi with a look of grievance and shook their heads at him.

Who was this young man?

And what did he want?

There were many thoughts they had about Lin Xuan Qi but none of them could figure it out.

"Thanks, your highness. I guarantee that you wouldn’t regret it with the dishes I’ve prepared for you." Lin Xuan Qi cupped his hands at Qian Shi and he glanced back at Old Heng and the others.

"Get back on your horse carriages. We are going back to my mansion to have a banquet with the Duke of Mu." He shouted at them and it took them a few moments before they could respond.

Old Heng and the others didn’t know what Lin Xuan Qi was talking about with Qian Shi, but one thing was for sure — Lin Xuan Qi knew the Duke of Mu, and through Lin Xuan Qi, they were now able to have a banquet together with the Duke of Mu.

Their ancestors must have been smiling down at them from the heavens.

All of them quickly walked over to their horse carriages and got onto them.

Lin Xuan Qi did the same and his horse carriage led Qian Shi’s over to the Lin Mansion.

"What’s happening?"

"Who was that talking to the Duke of Mu?"

"Does anyone know?"

The crowd had no clue what had transpired and they were dying to know who Lin Xuan Qi was.

But all they could do was to stand there and look at the convoy of horse carriages going further and further away.
