Chapter 451: Little Troublesome
"Most of the world is wilderness, untouched by humans and ruled by beasts.
Normally it shouldn’t have been much of a concern as the beasts didn’t expand their territories into human ruled zones but if strong human cultivators kept dying meaninglessly then who was to say they wouldn’t try to do so?
That’s why an agreement between righteous and evil cultivators was formed and the evil cultivators were given their own zone where righteous cultivators above the Manifestation Realm weren’t allowed to intervene.
Similarly, the evil cultivators above the Manifestation Realm couldn’t act inside the normal provinces either.
So it created a strange kind of peace between the two factions, with only small skirmishes between low realm cultivators.
The only problem is that the Devil Paradise shared borders with two provinces and one of them was Azure Province, so it was our headache to contain them... because devils are the last people anyone should trust."
Lin Feng understood it very clearly. Most node worlds had a similar balance between evil and righteous factions. As for the matter of trusting evil cultivators, who was to say righteous ones were trustworthy? It was just a sweet illusion they had created for themselves and others.
The barrier between evil and righteous was impossibly thin. It could be crossed by a single thought.
Lin Feng shook his head internally. He had long ago stopped thinking about such things.
They flew for a few more breaths when Lin Feng finally saw the town Sun Xiurong had mentioned. Although it was called a town, it was bigger than even the largest cities in his previous world. Nonetheless, to him it really was a small town.
"Wait..." Sun Xiurong said and took out a veil before wearing it. "It’s troublesome to enter the town without this."
Sh always wears one but it had been torn apart along with her face when she had been injured.
"Daoist Lin, I have to meet with the Town Lord so that she can send a message to the sect that I am fine or else who knows what will happen. Since you don’t want to get entangled, let’s meet later. You should head over to Fragrant Dew Inn in the center of the town, I will be there shortly."
Lin Feng liked this idea. He wanted to see if he could contact Bai Qingya too, so it would be better to stay at the inn for the time being.
"Alright."
Sun Xiurong gave a nod before flying off in a different direction.
Lin Feng went towards the entrance and landed on the pathway leading to it as there was quite a crowd waiting to enter.
Observing the crowd he found that most of the cultivators were below the Tribulation Ascendance Realm, with only a few in the Initiation Realm. He wasn’t surprised by it as reaching the Initiation Realm wasn’t merely a matter of resources.
Nevertheless, the completeness of the laws did improve the chances of Tribulation Ascendance cultivators reaching the Initiation Realm.
His arrival did draw some attention and Lin Feng could sense curiosity, jealousy and bewilderment from all the cultivators.
It lasted for a few breaths before they returned to minding their own affairs and Lin Feng silently listened to the conversation of the nearest group which didn’t seem to be from any sect or clan.
...
"To think those devils would attack this town, were they tired of living?"
"Indeed, it was quite strange to hear since those devils are usually more afraid of death than anyone else."
"And it was mentioned that those cowards launched a frontal attack. Something was definitely strange here..."
"Everything else aside, who is this? I have never seen him around here..." one of the Initiation Realm women cultivators asked. She had suppressed her voice to make sure it wasn’t heard by Lin Feng.
"Well, to be honest, he seems new to this area or else he would definitely be known given his face..." one of the men spoke with an annoyed tone.
"He looks like the young master of some ancient clan..."
...
Lin Feng sighed when their conversation became centered around him. It wasn’t something he wanted to listen to.
Although these people had suppressed their voices, it wasn’t enough to escape his sense of hearing.
He stopped paying attention to them and looked at the people entering the town. They seemed to be giving ten mid grade spirit stones as an entrance fee. Well, that much wasn’t an issue but the guards seemed to be observing everyone very attentively and they were also checking cultivation realms.
This might create some issues for him. Since he was new here, their vigilance was expected given the recent attack on the town but if they asked him where he was from then he didn’t have anything to say.
If that happened then he could only say that he had just arrived in this world. Saying that wouldn’t be much of an issue other than the fact that they might look down upon him but would they believe it?
Those who arrived from lower worlds were expected to be in the Tribulation Ascendance Realm, so his cultivation realm being at the Initiation Realm would be a concern...
"Greetings, Senior..."
Lin Feng looked towards the man who had broken his train of thought. It was one of the cultivators from the previous group which had been talking about him. He was in the Tribulation Ascendance Realm. This was good, he could use them.
"What is it?"
Lin Feng showed an amicable smile.
The man got a little startled receiving such politeness from someone in the Initiation Realm.
"A-Ah, Senior, are you visiting here for the first time?"
Lin Feng nodded while maintaining his smile.
"Indeed, you have impeccable judgment..."
The man felt embarrassed as well as flattered listening to the compliment from Lin Feng.
"You must be jesting, Senior. I was merely assuming that to be the case..." the man shook his head. "Are you here to find hidden inheritances too?"
Lin Feng went into deep thought. This town was just a short distance away from a place that could be termed an ancient battlefield, a place which should be filled with hidden inheritances.
