Overpowered Resident Doctor

Chapter 785: I’m So Stupid

After finishing the brain tumor aspiration and injection procedure for Qin Feng’s patient, Yan Feifan rushed to a small conference room on the third floor of the Trauma Surgery Department to attend a surgical planning meeting.

The meeting was for the phalloplasty scheduled for the next day.

However, Yu Suye would be the lead surgeon for tomorrow’s operation, with Chen Yu assisting and supervising the entire process. Yan Feifan, on the other hand, would be withdrawing from the surgery completely.

At the same time, Yu Youwen and Zhao Dongsheng would also be participating, each responsible for a specific part of the operation.

Yan Feifan spent over an hour with Chen Yu, listening as Yu Suye, Yu Youwen, and Zhao Dongsheng each presented their surgical plans.

He could tell that all three had prepared meticulously, and he found no issues with their proposed plans.

But surgery is performed with hands, not words. The actual outcome would only be clear after the operation was over tomorrow.

Yan Feifan and Chen Yu each pointed out a few key areas for the three of them to focus on, and with that, the meeting concluded.

“Feifan…”

Chen Yu called out to Yan Feifan as he was about to leave. “I’ve been keeping an eye on that construction worker,” she said. “The one whose damaged right hand you repaired using his own ribs for the bones.”

“He’s recovering quite well at the moment, with no signs of any significant discomfort.”

“Reconstructing hand bones with ribs is something many surgeons have done. It’s a highly feasible procedure.”

“But it’s quite rare for someone to reconstruct so many hand bones from ribs all at once, like you did.”

After a pause, Chen Yu sighed. “The Trauma Surgery Department receives a significant number of patients with hand injuries every year.”

“There’s a considerable demand for hand bone reconstruction, but 3D printing is too slow, and the biomaterials used aren’t always fully accepted by the human body.”

“Using ribs to reconstruct hand bones is proving to be a relatively quick, practical, and excellent alternative.”

Hearing all this, Yan Feifan couldn’t help but ask, “Mrs. Chen, you’ve said so much. What exactly are you getting at?”

Chen Yu shot him a sideways glance. “Making hand bones from ribs also has issues with time and precision.”

“Setting aside the time it takes, not everyone can carve out identical hand bones just by hand, like you can.”

“What I need is a compact, fully-automated precision lathe that can machine bone into a specific shape in a short amount of time.”

At this, Yan Feifan understood.

“Mrs. Chen, are you asking me to contact Baining Technology or Baiyulan and have them build one for the hospital?”

Chen Yu smiled faintly. “I think a medical-grade precision machine tool like this has great market potential.”

“Similar industrial machine tools already exist.”

“All that’s needed is to adapt it for medical use—to process bone instead of steel.”

“It would also need image recognition capabilities to read X-rays and automatically convert them into the data models needed for machining.”

“It’s unlikely the department could assign a dedicated modeling and operations specialist just for this one machine.”

Yan Feifan let out a soft “oh.” “Mrs. Chen, I’ll pass your request on to Baining and Baiyulan.”

Chen Yu nodded in satisfaction, then added, “Feifan, if your medical technology company can do it, you should do it yourselves. Keep the good opportunities for yourself, right?”

“There are over seven hundred top-tier hospitals in the country. Even if only a third of them buy one, that’s still a sizable market.”

But Yan Feifan shook his head. “Even if it’s just modifying an existing precision machine tool, I don’t think Extraordinary Medical Technology has that kind of R&D capability.”

Chen Yu rolled her eyes. “Feifan, I don’t care which company takes it. I personally think it has great market potential, so have them build one and send it to us for a free trial.”

Yan Feifan grimaced.

“Mrs. Chen, a precision machine tool like that sounds expensive. It would cost over a million, at least.”

“Send one for free? You’ve really got some nerve asking.”

Chen Yu huffed. “Isn’t my idea worth a million? Feifan, just contact them and give it a shot. You never know, it might just work out.”

Yan Feifan was speechless but had no choice but to agree for now.

Chen Yu enjoyed the troubled look on Yan Feifan’s face and chuckled. “Let me tell you something that’ll cheer you up.”

“My niece, Xia Min, has been bragging to me lately about how boys keep asking for her number on the street, or how she gets notes passed to her in the study hall.”

“I’m really worried she’s going to turn into a spoiled little princess…”

After meeting up with Yu Suye, Yan Feifan was on his way to the cafeteria for lunch when he got a call from Song Yi.

“Feifan, I have some good news for you.”

“I just got a call from Mr. Sun’s secretary…”

“He said that Mr. Sun had him call me specifically to say that he didn’t take any sleeping pills last night. He fell asleep quickly listening to our hypnotic rain sounds and slept soundly all night.”

Yan Feifan said, a little smugly, “That’s just the expected result. We’re always honest about our product’s effectiveness; we never exaggerate.”

As Song Yi chuckled on the other end, Yan Feifan casually mentioned Chen Yu’s idea for a 3D precision bone-machining tool.

“Feifan, this project—we can do it!”

Yan Feifan was taken aback. “Do it ourselves?”

“Yes, do it ourselves!”

Song Yi’s voice was bright over the phone. “It’s just a matter of modifying and retooling existing high-precision machine tools. The technical difficulty shouldn’t be that great.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity to build our technical team and train our R&D staff.”

“Feifan, as a medical technology company, we need a strong R&D team that can fight, one that can quickly turn your future ideas into products.”

Song Yi added excitedly, “Plus, through this product, we can establish close cooperative relationships with major hospitals across the country.”

Seeing that she had a point, Yan Feifan could only say, “Song Yi, since you want to take it on, I’ll leave this idea in your hands.”

“But, Song Yi, don’t bite off more than you can chew. And keep your priorities straight. Don’t lose sight of the big picture for a small gain.”

Song Yi laughed. “Feifan, don’t worry, I know what I’m doing…”

After having lunch with Yu Suye, Yan Feifan returned to his office in the Little Red House to find Ji Meng waiting for him.

He performed a manual examination of Ji Meng’s face, then called Zhu Jian and Berry over.

“This is Miss Ji Meng. She is my facial plastic surgery patient for next week. The two of you, take her to the plastic surgery center for a comprehensive examination now.”

After giving his instructions, Yan Feifan added, “Based on Miss Ji Meng’s examination results, I want you to prepare a full facial plastic surgery plan for me within three days.”

“There are two requirements. First, she must still look like Ji Meng. Second, make her as beautiful as humanly possible!”

Zhu Jian and Berry responded in unison and led Ji Meng out of the office.

On the way to the plastic surgery center, Ji Meng’s eyes were glued to Berry.

“Dr. Berry, you’re so beautiful, as beautiful as the Hollywood stars I’ve seen.”

“Your figure is incredible, just amazing. I’d even call it smoking hot.”

“If you don’t mind me asking, is your figure natural from working out? Or…?”

Berry stretched her body and said proudly, “From head to toe, one hundred percent original. I’ve never been under the knife.”

“Really?”

Ji Meng sounded a little disbelieving and also a bit disappointed. “I thought maybe Mr. Yan was the one who did it.”

“I wonder about Mr. Yan’s skills in body sculpting…?”

Zhu Jian chimed in, “Our teacher is an all-around doctor. Body sculpting is no problem for him.”

Ji Meng glanced at the impressive pair straining against Berry’s white coat and muttered to herself, ‘I’m so stupid. Since I’m going for the ultimate transformation, why not make my body the ultimate, too?’
