Chapter 638 - 636: Have You Ever Cared About My Feelings?

Chapter 638: Chapter 636: Have You Ever Cared About My Feelings?

"Yeah, she’s banking on the fact that there’s no other evidence and is denying it to the death. If we can’t find any, we really can’t convict her based on the testimony of those three men alone," Zou Ming said. "However, since she did it, she must have left some clues behind. We didn’t focus our attention on her back then. If we investigate thoroughly this time, we should be able to dig something up."

Su Qing nodded, checked the time, and said, "Well, I’ll let you get back to it. I’m heading out."

Zou Ming laughed. "You sure have it easy. You’re on vacation and you won’t even come to the station to put in some hours?"

"Hehe, I’m not an official employee," Su Qing said with a grin. "Besides, I promised my grandma I’d go home and have lunch with her."

"Alright, get out of here. Stop rubbing it in," Zou Ming said, waving at Su Qing with a smile. "I have to go check on the interrogation room anyway."

Su Qing smiled, said goodbye to Zou Ming, and left the police station.

As she walked into a small alley near the station, a thought crossed Su Qing’s mind. One of the Vine Seeds she had left behind silently moved into the interrogation room where Wu Qiao Ping was being held. At that moment, Wu Qiao Ping was still crying to Mr. and Mrs. Wu. Mr. Wu was glaring at her in fury, while Mrs. Wu was screaming curses at her. The two officers guarding the room had their attention fixed on the three of them, so no one noticed a single Vine Seed slip inside.

The Vine Seed quietly made its way to Wu Qiao Ping’s feet. A slender, emerald-green tendril emerged from the seed. Soon, a drop of vibrant green liquid condensed at the tip of the tendril and slowly dripped onto the top of Wu Qiao Ping’s foot. The thin tendril then quickly retracted back into the seed. The black, millet-sized seed zipped over to a table leg, scrambled up, and hid itself in the wood grain.

Wu Qiao Ping only felt what seemed like a drop of water landing on her foot. She frowned slightly and rubbed it with her other foot, paying it no mind.

Su Qing, strolling leisurely through the alley, saw all of this and couldn’t help but smile. ’Now for the good part.’ This drop of Green Liquid wasn’t the pure version from her Bagua Pool. It was mixed with a powder she had concocted. When combined with the Green Liquid, this powder would make a person uncontrollably agitated and cause them to unconsciously reveal their deepest secrets. Moreover, it would leave no detectable trace.

The corners of Su Qing’s mouth curved up. After her Wood Ability superpower level rose to the Seventh Rank, the process had seemed on the surface to only be a Washing Marrow, without unlocking any new skills. However, her existing skills had all been enhanced and had become much more discreet. This development made Su Qing very happy.

Inside the interrogation room, Mrs. Wu was still berating Wu Qiao Ping. With the police present, she couldn’t hit her anymore, so she could only vent her grief and regret through verbal abuse.

"If I had known you were such an animal, I would have watched you starve to death rather than adopt you." Mrs. Wu pointed at Wu Qiao Ping, cursing through her tears, "You ungrateful beast!"

Originally, Wu Qiao Ping had planned to feign a wronged expression and deny everything to the death, no matter how Mrs. Wu cursed at her. But for some reason, she felt a growing agitation in her heart. Mrs. Wu’s tirade sounded exceptionally grating to her ears.

SMACK! Wu Qiao Ping slammed her hand on the table in front of her. The handcuffs on her wrists crashed against the table with a sharp CLANG, startling Mrs. Wu, who was in the middle of her tirade.

"Are you done cursing yet?" Wu Qiao Ping shot a vicious glare at Mrs. Wu. The look startled both Mr. and Mrs. Wu. They had never seen this side of Wu Qiao Ping. In their memory, she had always been good at currying favor and had never once shown them a sour face.

"Wu Qiao Ping, watch your attitude," one of the officers said with a frown.

But Wu Qiao Ping was in no state to listen. She felt unbearably agitated and needed to vent all the injustice she felt inside.

"You..." Mrs. Wu, aghast, was about to say something when Wu Qiao Ping shrieked, "You have the nerve to curse me? You think you were so good to me? Pfft! If I hadn’t spent every day cautiously sucking up to you two, would you have ever been nice to me?"

"You... you!" Wu Qiao Ping’s words nearly made Mrs. Wu faint from anger. She pointed a trembling finger at Wu Qiao Ping. "You beast! How were we ever not good to you? How did Xiao Yun ever wrong you that you had to harm us like this? You’re nothing but a beast!"

Mrs. Wu had been elegant her entire life and had almost never argued with anyone. She could only repeat the same few insults over and over.

"’You’ what?" Wu Qiao Ping stared at Mrs. Wu and ground out through her teeth, "If you two weren’t still useful, I would have sent you to keep Wu Qiaoyun company a long time ago."

Hearing this, Mr. and Mrs. Wu’s eyes flew wide open.

The two officers in the room had seen Wu Qiao Ping’s sudden outburst and were about to restrain her, but they never expected her to say something like that. The two exchanged a look. One began taking notes, while the other hurried to find Zou Ming. As soon as he opened the door, however, he saw Zou Ming standing right outside.

Zou Ming made a gesture to be quiet and turned his gaze to Wu Qiao Ping, who was ranting and raving inside the room.

At this point, Wu Qiao Ping’s heart was overflowing with resentment. She wasn’t thinking about anything except venting it all. She pointed at Mr. and Mrs. Wu and said, "You adopted me and put on a good show for everyone, saying you couldn’t bear to see me orphaned and wanted to give me a home. In reality, wasn’t it all just to show off your noble character and make people think you were morally superior? Pfft! You used me to show off your virtue, and I’m supposed to be eternally grateful? In your dreams."

Mrs. Wu’s chest ached with anger. "You beast! We put so much effort into raising you, and this is what you think of us?"

"What else? How else am I supposed to see it?" Wu Qiao Ping sneered. "And your precious daughter, always acting like the gentle big sister. Everyone said how wonderful she was to me. Pfft! Wasn’t she only good to me for her own reputation? Look at her! What a great reputation she had! Ever since she was little, she was the perfect child other parents compared you to. Good grades, good character, pretty, and even ’good to me.’ Everyone she met praised her. But what about me? I could only hide in her shadow. Whenever she was around, no one would ever praise me. Everyone praised her! Do you have any idea how that made me feel?"

Wu Qiao Ping slammed the table. "Did any of you ever care about how I felt?"

Mr. and Mrs. Wu were practically apoplectic at Wu Qiao Ping’s shameless claims. Mr. Wu roared, "Xiao Yun was good to you, so I suppose that was Xiao Yun’s fault?!"
