Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 579: The Disaster Timeline Advances Again

Chapter 579 -588: The Disaster Timeline Advances Again

Hearing these words, Miles Sanctus was rather unconvinced.

That Gordon Ford did have some skill. He had fought him before, and the man was indeed no simple character.

But he found it hard to believe that both he and Caleb Xavier had been implicitly suppressed by the man.

He had seen Caleb Xavier’s abilities for himself; Gordon Ford couldn’t be *that* powerful, could he?

Seeing Miles’s obvious disbelief, Caleb Xavier didn’t rush. He said, “Don’t be so quick to dismiss it. Why do you think I was reborn? It was because of Gordon Ford!”

At this thought, a strange glint flashed in Caleb Xavier’s eyes.

The thought of Gordon Ford made it difficult for him to suppress the hatred in his heart.

‘If it weren’t for him, how could I have come back again, been left with nothing, and forced to walk the same path as my previous life all over again?’

‘I had already reached the pinnacle in my past life.’

‘But now, I have to start everything from scratch. Not only that, but I have to go through all the suffering and disasters from my past life one more time. How could I not hate Gordon Ford for that?’

Noticing the strange look in Caleb Xavier’s eyes, Miles Sanctus was now a little shocked. ‘Could what he’s saying be true? Is Gordon Ford really that powerful?’

He asked in confusion, “If that’s the case, now that you’ve captured him, why not just kill him? Why are you keeping him alive?”

He found it strange. If Gordon Ford was going to become so powerful in the future, shouldn’t Caleb have killed him now, while he was still weak?

Why, after having Gordon Ford in his grasp for some time now, had he not made a move?

Instead, it seemed to him that Caleb was somewhat at a loss about what to do with the man.

Caleb Xavier took a deep breath. “I can’t touch him yet. He’s still useful!”

‘If I could, I’d really love to just kill Gordon Ford right now, but I can’t. If I killed him, I would completely lose any hope of going back.’

‘Although I have an advantage over others right now, I don’t want to go through this all over again.’

‘The disasters I lived through over the years were too terrifying. Even going through them a second time, I’m not confident I can survive them all.’

‘Compared to killing Gordon Ford, I’d much rather have him send me back to the future. Then I wouldn’t have to go through all this trouble.’

‘I’ll only be forced to accept reality if there’s absolutely no other way. That’s why I need to be prepared for both possibilities.’

‘And unless it’s a last resort, I don’t want to move against him.’

‘The only thing giving me a headache is this: Gordon Ford, that madman, was so obsessed with researching a way to return to the past. Now that I’ve died and come back, why hasn’t Gordon Ford himself been reborn?’

‘I’ve been testing him for months. He doesn’t remember anything from the past life, which means he hasn’t come back.’

‘If that’s the case, then the current Gordon Ford has no way of sending me back.’

‘Instead, I’ll have to find a way to make him remember the things from before.’

Miles Sanctus watched him with a playful look, seeing such an expression in the other man’s eyes for the first time.

Caleb Xavier calmed down. He looked at Miles Sanctus’s handsome face and smiled again. “Alright, I’ve explained all your doubts away. You should believe in my sincerity now!”

Miles Sanctus nodded.

Just then, however, Caleb Xavier stood up. He gave Miles Sanctus a meaningful look. “Of course, your earlier suspicions were justified. I chose to cooperate with you for reasons other than just your abilities!”

Miles Sanctus wasn’t surprised by this. What did surprise him was why Caleb would suddenly say such a thing. He had already chosen to believe him, yet Caleb was now telling him he had ulterior motives. ‘What is this guy trying to do?’

Caleb Xavier stood up and said to him, “If I only wanted to cooperate with you, I wouldn’t need to treat you this well, or even tell you everything!”

Miles Sanctus had found this strange as well. His current strength was not on par with the man before him. Even if Caleb valued his abilities and wanted to partner up, there was no need for him to be so accommodating most of the time.

More often than not, he felt that Caleb was indulging him, which gave him a vague sense that something was wrong.

Just then, Caleb Xavier, who had already stood up, walked over to him. He placed a hand on the sofa behind him. “Is there another reason? Naturally, it’s because…”

He paused there, a teasing look on his face.

Miles Sanctus looked at the man who was now just inches away. He could feel Caleb’s breath on him. He frowned, his eyes turning sharp. “What are you doing? Get the hell away from me. If you have something to say, say it. Don’t get so close!”

He looked into the other man’s eyes and felt that the way Caleb was looking at him was… different.

Seeing him react like this, Caleb Xavier let out a snort of laughter.

Just as he was about to speak, a loud rumbling sound came from outside.

Both of them swayed, and Caleb Xavier fell right on top of Miles Sanctus.

Miles Sanctus pushed him off and looked outside. “What was that?”

Caleb Xavier sighed helplessly. Looking at the endlessly shaking house, he also glanced outside.

He saw that the sky, which had been bright with a blazing sun just moments ago, had suddenly darkened. The entire sky had turned black.

Beside him, Miles Sanctus asked in confusion, “What’s going on now? Is a new disaster coming?”

Just then, the sky seemed to tear open, and a sliver of light shone through.

Flocks of small birds circled low in the sky, and animals that hadn’t been seen for a long time were scurrying about everywhere.

Seeing this scene, Caleb Xavier’s expression changed slightly.

‘Is the insect plague here? As expected, this life is different from the last one. The timing is so much earlier. Why is that?’

Caleb Xavier was filled with doubt. It had been nearly a year since he was reborn.

Not long after his rebirth, he had noticed something was wrong. The timeline of this life was different from the timeline of his previous one.

And as time went on, this discrepancy only grew larger. The disasters that had happened before were all occurring earlier than they did last time.

This insect plague, in particular, was more than two years ahead of schedule compared to his last life.

‘But why is all this happening?’

‘What happened to cause the timeline of this life to change?!’

At first, he thought it was because of his own rebirth.

A chain reaction caused by his return.

But he soon discovered that wasn’t the case. As far as he could tell, the timeline of this life had already diverged from the previous one even before he was reborn.

So, he wasn’t the cause.

Meanwhile, Stella Sterling, who had just left Caeluna Base, happened to see this scene. She stopped in her tracks, her expression complex. “Has it come?”
