‘Why is she looking at me like that? Did she really hear what I said before?’

His body trembled even more violently. This woman had already put him through the wringer several times before.

Eventually, he had learned how to act around her. He knew what he could and couldn’t say, and he rarely made her angry anymore.

He was just teasing Andrew Shaw.

He shot Zane Xavier a glare, then hurried after Stella Sterling.

He asked tentatively, “Miss, did you hear what I said earlier?”

“What did you say?” Stella Sterling turned to look at him, not really answering.

“I am completely loyal to you! I can say without a doubt that I am utterly devoted. Even if you wanted my life, I’d give it without a second thought! But, uh, I don’t think you’re that kind of person, right? My life is still somewhat useful, you should keep me around so I can serve you well in the future. I can’t just die like this!”

As Andrew Shaw spoke, he felt himself starting to ramble incoherently.

Seeing Stella Sterling just staring at him without a word, he deflated and said helplessly, “Alright, alright, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I know I was a little scared earlier, mainly because you were acting really strange today, but I honestly didn’t mean anything else by it!”

Stella Sterling looked at him, and seeing him like this, she smiled.
