Chapter 709: Chapter 601: Despair and Excitement
In the dueling arena, Jeming was watching a battle between Sixth Level Wizards.
Suddenly, the Magic Network Terminal of all the wizards present began to vibrate, and an emergency message popped up, containing just a few words: "Space defense has been breached, unknown enemy approaching."
Upon seeing this message, Jeming’s pupils suddenly contracted.
He looked up towards the sky.
In the extreme distance, countless tiny light spots were appearing.
Those light spots were rapidly expanding, seemingly surging in this direction.
Moreover, their number was incredibly exaggerated, filling the entire field of vision in the blink of an eye.
The wizards in the audience also noticed.
Someone stood up, someone gripped their Magic Staff tightly, while another instinctively took a step back.
The wizards who were dueling all stopped simultaneously, looking up at the light spots that were getting closer.
For a moment, the entire dueling arena fell into a deathly silence.
Felix’s figure appeared, his voice still calm, as if stating a trivial matter: "Massive invasion detected. All units, prepare for combat."
At the exact moment those words fell, the void was torn apart.
On the outskirts of the Wizard Civilization’s Core Plane in the parallel world, the endless Chaotic Void seemed to be ripped open violently from within by some brute force, forming a massive breach.
At the edges of the rift, space fragments scattered like shattered ice, each piece carrying energy sufficient to obliterate a small plane.
The rift expanded rapidly, swallowing all the light it could like an abyss.
Then, they emerged.
The first to appear was a Starry Sky Giant Beast.
Its size was so enormous it was immeasurable; just the part protruding from the rift obscured the starlight of several planes.
Its body was composed of some translucent material, with countless glowing veins flowing inside, resembling an ignited vascular network.
The beast’s head had no eyes, only a horizontally split giant mouth, with tens of millions of slowly rotating teeth inside.
With each breath, the surrounding void would tremble.
Behind it, more Starry Sky Giant Beasts were squeezing out of the rift.
Even the relatively smaller ones were hundreds of kilometers long, while the larger ones were bigger than some small planes.
Their forms varied, with some resembling spheres entwined by countless tentacles, each tentacle ending with a closed eye; others looked like corroded meteorites, with surfaces full of cracks that opened and closed, oozing some black liquid; others had no discernible shape at all, just a mass of energy aggregation that continually expanded and contracted, with each pulse releasing radiation powerful enough to twist space.
Most importantly, nearly all the Starry Sky Giant Beasts had reached the Eighth Level in energy tier.
Behind these Starry Sky Giant Beasts was a tsunami-like tide of living creatures.
They were trillions of Sixth and Seventh Level creatures, crowded together, overlapping and trampling each other, blocking the rift’s exit.
Their sizes ranged from several meters to several kilometers, and their forms were even more bizarre.
As soon as they left the rift and entered the territory of the Wizard Civilization, they roared in the void, churning the already broken space into a mush.
Millions of Eighth Level creatures, and trillions of Seventh and Sixth Levels.
As for other mid-low tier levels, their numbers were so vast that statistics had lost their meaning, enough to make any rational creature abandon thinking, leaving only instinctive fear.
The wizards of the parallel world were first struck by deathly silence, then collapse, upon witnessing this scene.
Those wizards who had just signed contracts and were grinning foolishly with their new Magic Robes found the smiles on their faces frozen the instant they saw those Starry Sky Giant Beasts.
The robes slipped from their hands, food fell from their mouths.
Some fell to the ground, some clutched their heads and screamed, while others had their Sea of Spirit collapse in fear, bleeding from their seven orifices as they fell.
"It’s over..." A Seventh Level wizard knelt on the ground, his voice hoarse, "The coordinates are exposed... they’ve come... all of them... why were the coordinates discovered?!!"
He was a veteran of three apocalyptic wars, knowing more than anyone the terror of the Alliance of Ten Thousand Realms.
Last time, the Alliance of Ten Thousand Realms used less than a tenth of its strength to almost crush their civilization.
This time, the enemy had deployed even stronger forces.
Another Eighth Level Wizard hovered in the air, looking at the colossal creatures emerging from the rift, trembling all over.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but ultimately only let out a sigh of despair.
The newly conscripted wizards from the parallel world were utterly collapsed at this moment.
Some tried to escape, some knelt and begged for mercy, while others frantically tore at their hair, muttering "apocalypse," "it’s over," "we’re all going to die."
Even more had crazy expressions, already brewing dangerous information, preparing to explode with the enemy!
In an instant, the entire dueling arena turned into a chaotic mess.
Then, they heard laughter.
It’s not that kind of despairing laughter, but an excited, heartfelt, even somewhat greedy laugh.
An Eighth Level Wizard from the Star Ring Federation stood at the edge of the Quantum Entanglement Flagship, gazing at the Starry Sky Giant Beasts pouring out from the rift, his eyes shining brightly.
The originally gentle expression completely collapsed, his mouth curled to his ears, his demeanor transforming from a calm scholar to a hunter spotting prey.
"This place... actually has prey delivered right to the doorstep?" His voice carried an irrepressible joy, "Never thought just releasing a few bugs could bring such a big haul!"
Beside him, an Eighth Level Wizard from the Deep Red Royal Court pushed him aside, rushing to the front, his eyes even brighter: "We saw it first! Deep Red Royal Court goes first!"
"You’re talking nonsense!" The Star Ring Federation wizard grabbed his collar, "This is the outer defense line of our Star Ring Federation, if anyone goes, it should be us first!"
"You Star Ring Federation took the big score last war, this time it’s our turn!"
"That was earned with our skills!"
The two Eighth Level Wizards argued like wild dogs fighting over food, shoving each other, spitting flying, with not a bit of High Tier Wizard elegance.
Wizards from the Void Architecture Institute and the Anti-Entropy Alliance also joined the fray, unwilling to be outdone.
The Void Architecture Institute claimed their Folded Geometric Palace was best suited for dealing with such large targets, while the Anti-Entropy Alliance boasted their Nano Flood could just drown those cannon fodder.
The high ranks of the four forces argued loudly, faces red and necks swelled, none willing to back down.
Wizards from the Parallel World watched this scene, completely dumbfounded.
They expected to see despair, fear, collapse akin to their own.
Instead, these people... were fighting to get in on the action?
A newly recruited Sixth Level Wizard stared dumbfounded at the quarreling Eighth Level Wizards, murmuring, "They... aren’t afraid?"
Beside him, the Twin Wizard looked at him like he was a fool, sighed helplessly, seemingly lamenting his Twin’s lack of wit.
But ultimately, this wizard pointed to the glowing eyes of those Eighth Level Wizards, answering the obvious question: "Do they look afraid to you?"
The Sixth Level Wizard fell into silence.
He watched for a while and finally confirmed a fact.
These people were beyond not afraid; they didn’t even consider the Alliance of Ten Thousand Realms as a concern at all.
In their eyes, that army of millions at the Eighth Level was not a threat, but a resource; not enemies, but prey.
A calm voice echoed through the entire space.
Felix and the projections of the other three Artificial Intelligences appeared in the void, their expressions as calm as ever, stating a trivial fact: "All units, please be advised. Large-scale invasion confirmed. Please prepare for battle according to the predetermined plan."
The wizards from the four forces immediately stopped their arguing.
Their expressions changed from greed back to calm, from hunter’s fervor to soldier’s grim resolve.
The transition was so swift it was as if a switch had been flipped, leaving the Parallel World wizards amazed.
The Quantum Entanglement Flagship began to accelerate its spin, the rune nodes on the circle illuminated simultaneously, lighting the entire void like daylight.
The Perfect Ecology Flesh Nest spewed out overwhelming red mist, within it, countless flesh creatures were hatching.
The Folded Geometric Palace began to extend outward, generating new defense nodes and attack platforms every second.
The Flood Star Ring transformed into a silver-white light belt, surrounding the entire outer space, temporarily blocking the tidal wave of creatures rushing in.
Meanwhile, countless cannon fodder units surged from the four forces’ positions.
There were Artificial Puppets, Elemental Creatures, Modified Beasts, and countless other combat weapons Jeming had never seen before.
Their numbers were overwhelming, no less than the enemy forces about to flood in.
More terrifying was that these cannon fodder units were of quite high level, as most present were High Level Wizards.
Jeming stood at the flagship’s edge, watching those cannon fodder units swarm towards the rift like a tide, entangling the Alliance of Ten Thousand Realms creatures that had just squeezed through.
Cannon fodder was consumed at a speed visible to the naked eye, with hundreds of thousands being torn apart, evaporated every second.
But more cannon fodder rushed from the rear, filling the gaps, pinning those Alliance of Ten Thousand Realms vanguards at the rift exit.
Jeming took a deep breath, suppressing the surging battle emotions within, knowing it wasn’t time for these wizards to make their move yet.
Footsteps sounded behind him.
Clark had somehow come to his side, watching expressionlessly at those colossal beings emerging in the distance.
"Mentor." Jeming nodded.
Clark gave no response.
He just quietly watched the torn void, watching the giant beasts struggling amidst the tide of cannon fodder.
After a long time, he spoke, his voice so calm as if commenting on the day’s weather: "Quite a number..."
Saying this, a barely noticeable arc appeared at the corner of Clark’s mouth: "...just right for some practice."
Jeming observed the rare expression on his mentor’s indifferent face, suddenly finding these invaders rather pitiable.
