Chapter 529 - 262: Death of the Beast Emperor

Chapter 529: Chapter 262: Death of the Beast Emperor

Robson wasn’t the only one with this concern. Earl Uman and Count Valentino had clearly considered this as well, and now their gazes, intentionally or not, turned to Robson.

Robson narrowed his eyes, his grip tightening on the Long Sword in his hand.

"Crush them! Eliminate the Beast Emperor!" Robson roared.

The brief alliance between the Frank Kingdom and the Gray Dwarves had been forged for the sole purpose of intercepting the Beast Emperor.

’And now? These Gray Dwarves fell into a trap themselves, and they still want to stand in the way of Lord Robson’s great achievement!’

Under normal circumstances, Robson was indeed willing to abide by the knightly code.

But now...

’Allies? I don’t know any. Anyone who stands in my way is an enemy.’

"For Frank!"

Having received their orders, the Warriors felt relieved and charged forward, roaring at the top of their lungs.

The Gray Dwarves had not only gone mad, but they had also failed to maintain even a basic formation.

To Cavalry, a scattered formation was a heaven-sent opportunity to charge!

Robson led the charge, and the other noble lords, not to be outdone, followed like a tributary surging into a great lake, stirring up wave after wave.

...

When King Monroe saw this, he was completely stunned, his eyes turning red with fury.

"What’s happening? Why are the humans attacking us?"

"Your Majesty, it seems we were the ones who attacked them first..." a Legendary-tier Gray Dwarf Warrior said with a frown.

"Why? I gave clear orders..."

"It’s that Array!"

"The Blood Array!" the Legendary Gray Dwarf explained.

"The Blood Array!"

King Monroe was well-versed in such matters. The moment he heard the name, he understood.

A Blood Array!

A Tier Nine Array with an effect similar to Bloodthirsty Cloud Qi.

Normally, an Array like this wouldn’t be very effective in a large-scale war.

Even for a Tier Nine Array, the Magic can’t be sustained for long when targeting tens of thousands of people.

But the timing was what made it so crucial!

’They’re using a borrowed blade to kill!’

King Monroe looked toward Emperor Kemal, who was currently fighting the Gray Dwarves, and his heart skipped a beat.

’No wonder. No wonder Kemal performed so poorly in this war. From the Bronze Plains onward, it was as if he’d deliberately walked into my trap, only to then charge about like a brainless brute.’

’At first, Monroe thought Kemal had just gotten old and foolish. But as it turns out, someone else was lying in wait.’

A chill ran down King Monroe’s spine. That familiar, dreadful feeling of being out-schemed had returned.

Regardless, he had now clashed with the humans. The already-fragile alliance between their two sides was now utterly shattered.

The Franks held no love for the Gray Dwarves. They might just decide to "clean up" his forces as well.

’That’s an Extraordinary Corps two thousand strong—humanity’s most elite legion! And that monster Robson is here too. This isn’t even their full strength; the humans’ central army of over two hundred thousand is camped out on the Bronze Plains.’

"Your Majesty, what should we do now?" the Gray Dwarf adjutants at his side couldn’t help but ask.

"What should we do?"

"Retreat! Tell any Soldier who still has their wits about them to retreat immediately!" King Monroe ordered.

...

King Monroe didn’t want to retreat. Taking Emperor Kemal’s head would be more persuasive than any words.

But retreating was his only option now.

Not only did they have to retreat, but they had to get far away, lest the humans decide to "clean them up" as well.

King Monroe wasn’t able to lead many away.

It was a Tier Nine Array, after all, and had affected over a thousand people.

Within the camp, there was no visible change; Beastmen and Gray Dwarves continued to fight each other relentlessly.

"For the Lord of Dawn!"

Amid the chaos of battle within the Beastman Camp, a black line suddenly appeared on the southern plains as thousands of Extraordinary Cavalry charged, kicking up a rolling cloud of dust.

"Uphold the glory of the Knight King!"

"Warriors, charge!"

Prince Noah, having pushed his forces hard, had covered the three-mile distance in less than half an hour.

This was to be expected; after all, the mounts of the troops behind Prince Noah were nearly as powerful as the Knights who rode them.

"For the glory of the Knight King!"

The Knight King was a hero of the Third Empire, respected by all of humankind.

Armies from all the various human kingdoms shouted the slogan in unison, their auras flaring to life.

Nearly half of them were Silver-tier Extraordinary warriors! And there were over a hundred at the Gold tier.

The leaders from the major kingdoms, the Holy See, and several grand duchies were all Legendary-tier Knights.

The momentum was overwhelming, a tidal wave of power like a mountain crashing down or a great river bursting its banks.

Prince Noah rode his Flame Dragon Horse at the head of the charge. His eyes, fixed on the distant phantom of the Beast God, were filled with zeal.

...

"Break through!"

"Make way!"

Robson, of course, had noticed the approaching Extraordinary Knight Order. It would have been difficult to miss. The spectacle—a radiant glow filling the sky—made Robson feel for the first time that this world wasn’t entirely real.

"For Frank!"

The battlefield had descended into chaos, a terrible environment for Cavalry.

Robson ordered his men to lead the Cavalry Corps out of the fray. He dismounted, his own aura erupting to its absolute limit. The phantom image at his back grew, reaching nearly half the height of the Beast Emperor’s own.

’The big shots are here. If I don’t put on a show, how will they know that Lord Robson has dedicated his life to this righteous counter-invasion?’

With the Cavalry Corps led away from the battle, Warriors from the first through third regiments immediately filled the gap, following closely behind Robson as they cut a path of destruction.

Robson had by this point cleared out most of the disorganized Gray Dwarves.

Some of the Gray Dwarves seemed to have regained their senses, but the pretense of alliance was shattered. Robson felt no hesitation, killing them where they stood.

Before long, his army clashed with the Beastman Army.

"ROAR!"

"AHH!"

Franks versus Purple-blooded Beastmen.

It was hard to tell if it was the lingering effect of the Blood Array or simply because they were mortal enemies to begin with.

The moment they met on the battlefield, the Beastman Warriors eagerly hefted their great axes and charged forward.

The human Soldiers were swept up in the frenzy, and the two sides quickly descended into a chaotic melee.

In the fierce winds of the plains, both sides shed blood and sweat. The carnage of war stripped away the veneer of civilization, revealing the primitive savagery beneath.

Notifications for both human and Beastman casualties spammed his Mount & Blade interface. Robson even spotted a dozen Tier Six warriors of the Beast Emperor’s Imperial Guard among the enemy.

This was the first time Robson had encountered Tier Six Warriors in this world.

...

A sliver of reason still remained in Emperor Kemal’s eyes. Wielding his axe, he became a god of slaughter, carving a path through the human ranks.

A single swing of his axe felled four or five human soldiers. Even the notoriously frenzied Affleck Soldiers recoiled in fear from this god of slaughter.

Robson, of course, spotted him.

This was what he had come for!

"Come on!"

His Legendary-tier aura ignited, a sacred, silver-white flame. Aura flooded his entire body, so much so that it surpassed his physical limits and began to vent from his eyes, ears, and mouth.

He looked for all the world like a Celestial God who had descended to the mortal realm.

The Beast Emperor noticed this human as well. As he turned his head, the phantom towering dozens of meters high behind him turned in unison. The massive specter stared down at Robson like a Demon God looking upon a mortal with contempt.

Moments later, the two clashed.

Auras blazed, extending ten meters from their bodies. Bloody red and sacred silver-white battled for dominance in the air, a symbol of their masters’ refusal to back down.

Robson felt the searing pain wracking his body. ’As expected of the Beast Emperor!’

This was the first time in his career that Robson had faced someone who could decisively overpower him in a one-on-one fight.

The Beast Emperor was burning his own life force and had decades of Legendary-tier experience to draw upon; Robson was clearly no match.

And yet, the physical pain didn’t bring Robson misery. Instead, he felt a strange sense of joy.

It was hard to say whether it was his so-called Frank bloodline or the thought of the rich rewards for helping to kill the Beast Emperor.

The two fought without pause. Robson realized that although the Beast Emperor was powerful, his consciousness seemed fragmented. He was deliberately luring Robson to the edge of the battle, trying not to harm his own Soldiers.

’I’m fighting the Beast Emperor!’

RUMBLE...

Just as their fight reached its peak, the thunderous vibrations in the distance finally became a real storm of hoofbeats.

The immense commotion caused even the Beast Emperor to regain his clarity for a moment. Seizing the opportunity, Robson rammed the Beast Emperor, sending him flying back more than ten meters before charging after him.

The Beast Emperor was caught off guard by the blow, though it wasn’t particularly painful.

Sent flying ten meters back, Kemal got a clearer view.

The charging Warriors, the humans... so many familiar faces, and young ones too. The Beast Emperor could even name them.

Lumian of Algeria, Great Judgment Knight Commander Vegas of the Holy See, Haijia’er of the Vidos Duchy, Ludenburg...

This moment was just like that one, so long ago.

It was them again. The same people who had shattered his dream of a Great Beastman Empire thirty years ago. Thirty years later, they were once again treading upon the lush green plains...

"ROAR!"

It was unclear whether it was the hatred built up over thirty years of sleepless nights or the barrel of Beast God’s Blood he had just consumed.

Now, Kemal’s eyes were bloodshot. His consciousness had completely collapsed, leaving only an endless lust for slaughter in his mind. He seemed to want to carve a path to freedom through the tightening encirclement.

"For the glory of my Lord!" Prince Noah cried, his expression ecstatic.

The living Beast Emperor, right before his very eyes! The only question was, who was that Extraordinary warrior battling him?

Prince Noah wasn’t the only one; Great Judgment Knight Commander Vegas was also puzzled. That sacred aura...

"For the Lord of Dawn!"

"For the glory of my Lord!"

With Prince Noah leading the cry, roars erupted from all directions.

In an instant, several figures shot forward—four, then five. They were the Knight Commanders of the great kingdoms and duchies, all of them at the Legendary tier!

The hundreds of Gold-tier Extraordinary warriors behind them quickly followed suit.

Luckily, Robson had charged in fast enough to break into the core of the fight.

Six Legendary-tier warriors surrounded Emperor Kemal. In an instant, a flurry of attacks, regardless of type, rained down upon Kemal’s already weakened body.

The Beast Emperor’s red eyes darted around. He let out a final, desperate roar at the sky.

But he was already weakened. He had struggled to handle Robson, a newly-minted Legendary, let alone six Legendary-tier warriors and a hundred Gold-tier ones.

The Beast Emperor felt as if his limbs were bound.

A frantic light appeared in his red pupils.

"Oh no!"

"He’s going to self-destruct!" "Get back!"

Hearing this, Robson immediately scrambled back.

Everyone could feel the Magic Energy between heaven and earth surging toward the Beast Emperor’s Dantian.

Almost everyone could feel the terrifying power brewing within him.

"ROAR!"

The pressure reached its absolute limit.

With a deafening BOOM, a massive cloud of battle aura shot into the sky.

Many of the powerful warriors were sent flying by the blast.

Robson was largely unaffected, his only regret being that his armor had been blasted to smithereens.

Panting for breath, Robson stared at the red, blood-like cloud in the distance, his expression dazed.
