Chapter 531: Chapter 2: Lord Robson’s International Outlook
"Uncle Lumian!"
"Thank you for your hard work."
With the battle over, the knights who had joined the campaign returned to Prince Noah’s side.
Leading them was none other than Knight Commander Lumian.
"Noah! Your bravery today was impressive."
Prince Noah and Lumian shared an embrace, after which the prince gestured toward Robson.
"This is General Robson."
Robson and Knight Commander Lumian had met before.
Knight Commander Lumian smiled and extended his hand.
"Young man, your conduct was also impressive. Your army truly astounded me."
The first part was a polite fiction—Knight Commander Lumian didn’t actually recognize Robson. The second part, however, was genuine.
"We must exchange notes on the art of war when we have the chance."
"You’re too kind, Commander. My accomplishments today are all thanks to the support of His Majesty the King and Marquis Edward."
Robson extended his hand, feeling a prickle of unease.
’When it came to the art of war, although he, Lord Robson, had read plenty of this world’s military books and could even be called a pioneer for his concentrated use of Magic Crystal Cannons, Robson himself wasn’t sure of his own theoretical understanding. After all, his ’battle panel’ was just too overpowered.’
"Robson, this is Grand Commander Haijia’er of the Vidos Duchy," Prince Noah continued.
This was Noah’s way of helping Robson broaden his international horizons.
The two had grown much closer ever since Robson had saved the prince.
Robson followed Prince Noah. Grand Commander Haijia’er was a rugged, middle-aged man, and a Legendary Second Tier.
The Vidos Duchy was located north of the Qisinov River, on the border between the Frank Kingdom and the Algeria Kingdom, serving as a military buffer zone between the two great powers.
However, due to Louis III’s strong-arm tactics, coupled with geopolitics, the Vidos Duchy actually leaned more toward the Frank Kingdom.
As far as Robson knew, among the three great kingdoms, Louis III was considered a truly formidable sovereign. King Lanswell III of Tilia was engrossed in political scheming, and since the Tilia Kingdom had difficulty expanding, internal conflicts were boiling over.
Gallidus of the Algeria Kingdom could also be considered a great ruler for his generation, but he was too young. Politics is a passionate drama for old men, and his methods clearly lacked refinement.
Grand Commander Haijia’er was a stern and serious man.
He shook Robson’s hand, offered a single compliment—"A young hero"—and then fell silent.
Prince Noah then introduced Robson to a few more people. There was no one from the Tilia Kingdom. The only one of note was Grand Judge Vegas from the Holy See.
Whether it was due to his Cultivation Technique or simply that people from the Holy See loved making a show, Vegas was radiating Holy Light from head to toe, but he seemed like a decent person. The Holy See had a respectable image in the Human World, often playing the role of mediator in the south, though the major kingdoms preferred not to publicize it.
Once the introductions were complete, Robson offered Prince Noah a smile.
’To be honest, Prince Noah was a stand-up guy.’
’Although he, Lord Robson, was destined to become a great noble and would surely meet these people eventually, being personally introduced by His Highness the Prince carried a completely different weight than if Robson had to make these connections himself.’
’Especially since Prince Noah was the Crown Prince. This was basically an announcement to everyone that Lord Robson was destined for great things in the Frankish political arena, and they should get acquainted with him now.’
"Your Highness, if I may ask, who from your kingdom was that Legendary warrior we saw earlier, the one enveloped in Silver-White Fighting Qi?"
After a round of pleasantries, Grand Judge Vegas couldn’t help but ask.
That silver-white figure had left a deep impression on Grand Judge Vegas. He had never seen such a form of Holy Fighting Qi.
Hearing this, Prince Noah was stunned for a moment, then smiled and ushered Robson forward.
"It was him, Your Excellency," Prince Noah said.
"Him?!"
His words stunned the entire crowd.
Grand Judge Vegas also frowned.
"Your Highness, you must be joking. From what I know, Earl Robson is only twenty-two years old..." Grand Judge Vegas said in disbelief.
A twenty-two-year-old Legendary? Not even the boldest playwright in the Tilia Kingdom would dare script such a story.
Unfortunately, reality always has a way of catching you off guard.
Robson opened his palm, and streams of Silver-White Fighting Qi began to converge in his hand.
As the fighting qi began to flow, the onlookers’ jaws dropped in astonishment.
Everyone could feel it clearly: the aura of a Legendary!
The fighting qi slowly gathered until it was so dense it condensed into droplets. Only the fighting qi of a Legendary could achieve such a concentration.
"Unbelievable... simply unbelievable... You must come to the Holy See. I have a premonition... you will be the next Saint," Grand Judge Vegas murmured, shaking his head.
"Noah, is Earl Robson married?
My nation’s eldest princess also happens to be unwed..." Grand Commander Haijia’er said.
The others, who had been looking on seriously, were taken aback. They never expected the most solemn-looking man among them to be the one to make such a bold suggestion.
Prince Noah was also taken aback. He glanced at Robson, knowing full well the relationship between him and Valentino.
’Having Robson marry an eldest princess from the Vegas Duchy wouldn’t be a bad idea,’ Noah thought. ’It would tie the Vegas Duchy to the Frankish war chariot in the future.’
’But the plan with the northern faction was just as important; it was key to suppressing Marquis George in the future. Prince Noah didn’t want to abandon that either.’
Prince Noah raised an eyebrow. Someone was approaching.
"Princess Zoyina? She is indeed a lady full of womanly charm," Prince Noah said.
"Robson?"
A crisp voice called out. Robson turned to see Valentino, and her expression was not pleasant.
Valentino had rushed over to find Robson as soon as the battle ended, only to walk in on this very scene.
Prince Noah’s words from moments ago were seared into her mind.
’Womanly charm?’
Robson nodded and pulled Valentino to his side.
"My apologies. This is my wife, Earl Fengman, Valentino," Robson announced.
’Marry the eldest princess of the Vegas Duchy? Then his, Lord Robson’s, plan for the northern faction would be dead before it even began.’
’Besides, setting the plan aside, he, Lord Robson, wasn’t the kind of man to love someone and then leave them.’
’A tall, blonde beauty with wavy hair. The one-point-seven-meter-tall Valentino was very much to his, Lord Robson’s, taste, especially since this formidable woman was no mere decoration, but possessed actual political skill.’
Although the two were already intimate, Valentino still felt a blush creep up her cheeks as Robson held her hand tightly.
Of course, no one noticed. After all, her armor was far redder than her face.
Seeing the situation grow awkward, Prince Noah stepped in to smooth things over.
"Ha! My apologies, I forgot to introduce you. This is Countess Valentino, of the Fengman Clan," Prince Noah said.
"Alright, gentlemen, the battle is not over yet."
"The Gray Dwarves have betrayed humanity, and they’re now just a few miles away. If we want to withdraw safely, we cannot let them escape."
"Isn’t that right, Robson?"
Robson nodded.
"You’re absolutely right, Your Highness."
