Chapter 433: Chapter 226: Liu Fu’s Showtime (3)
"So, can I make my move now?" Yang Qi asked.
"Yes. Bring Liu Fu, and it would be best to bring Xiaojiu too. We need them to sneak into the villa and use miniature cameras to record the situation inside, especially any potential documents, computers, or safes. If they can capture any passwords or the contents of the documents, that would be ideal."
Shao Wei spoke quickly, "We have a command vehicle outside the villa district. Advisor Yang, are you free to come over now?"
"Send me the address. I’ll be right there," Yang Qi said without hesitation.
"Okay, sending you the location now. Be careful. When you arrive, look for an ordinary-looking white van with the license plate EA-GX***."
He hung up, and the location via WeChat arrived almost simultaneously.
Yang Qi turned and gave his Guardian Beasts in the room some quick orders. "Xiaojiu, Liu Fu, you’re with me. We have a mission. Bai Wan, Leopard, Hu Zi, you three stay here and guard the house. Ta Xue, you stay too."
[Understood, Master.]
Xiaojiu immediately leaped gracefully from the cat tree, its jade-green eyes gleaming sharply in the light.
Liu Fu also broke its camouflage and quickly scuttled to Yang Qi’s feet.
The three dogs whimpered softly, showing they understood.
Ta Xue also lifted its head and nodded.
Yang Qi left with Xiaojiu and Liu Fu, getting into the SUV parked at the courtyard gate.
The vehicle started, pulling out of the Zoo’s residential area and merging into the city’s nighttime traffic.
Yang Qi didn’t drive too fast, but his choice of route was very efficient. He took the ring road to avoid the downtown congestion, speeding toward Lantian District.
He headed straight for the outskirts of the Fenglin Garden villa community.
It was a high-end community, with a quiet and secluded environment, shaded by lush trees, and surrounded by high walls.
It was now after nine at night. The community entrance was quiet, with only the guardhouse light on.
Yang Qi didn’t approach the main gate, instead parking his car on a quiet side street about two hundred meters away.
After getting out of the car, he looked left and right, quickly spotting an inconspicuous white van parked on the roadside. The license plate was the one Shao Wei had mentioned.
Yang Qi took Xiaojiu and Liu Fu and walked briskly toward the van.
Just as he neared the driver’s side, the door slid open a crack from the inside without a sound. Shao Wei poked his head out and whispered,
"Advisor Yang, get in, quick!"
Yang Qi slipped inside sideways.
The van’s interior had been modified. It wasn’t spacious, but it was fully equipped.
Both sides were lined with consoles, holding several laptops and monitoring screens that cast a faint blue glow.
Besides Shao Wei, there were three other plainclothes police officers inside—two men and a woman—all staring intently at the screens.
When they saw Yang Qi enter, they all looked up and gave him a friendly nod.
Yang Qi nodded back in response.
"The situation is urgent, so let’s skip the formalities."
Shao Wei shut the door and pointed to a red dot marked on a screen. "The target, code-named ’Old K’, is suspected in multiple cases of illegal fundraising and money laundering. We suspect this villa is one of his secret locations for hiding evidence and financial records."
"He went in alone tonight and hasn’t come out yet. Our people can’t get too close for fear of tipping him off."
"Which is why we need your ’special scouts’ to step in, Advisor Yang."
As he spoke, he glanced at Xiaojiu on Yang Qi’s shoulder, then looked at Yang Qi’s empty other shoulder with a puzzled expression.
"Where’s Liu Fu?"
"Right here." Yang Qi raised his hand and patted his left arm gently. "Liu Fu, show yourself. Say hello to everyone."
Under the astonished gazes of Shao Wei and the other three officers, the air near the shoulder of Yang Qi’s left sleeve seemed to ripple like water.
A chameleon, its body color blending almost perfectly with his sleeve, slowly "precipitated" into view. Its bulging eyes swiveled around to look at the people in the van, and it let out a soft HISS.
"Holy..."
A young male officer couldn’t help but exclaim in a low voice, "It’s like he conjured a live person... oh, no, a live lizard! That camouflage is insane! I didn’t see a thing just now!"
Shao Wei’s eyes lit up, and he exclaimed in admiration, "Perfect. This is perfect. With Liu Fu’s ability, sneaking in will be absolutely no problem."
He looked at the female officer. "Xiaoliu, bring the equipment."
Xiaoliu immediately retrieved two sets of tiny devices from a small, well-made case.
One set was a button-sized, miniature HD camera with night vision and audio pickup capabilities. The other was an even smaller, nearly invisible bone-conduction micro-earpiece.
Both sets of equipment had been treated with a special biocompatible adhesive, allowing them to be attached firmly but lightly to an animal’s body, adding almost no burden and being difficult to detect.
"Advisor Yang, we need to equip both Liu Fu and Xiaojiu. The camera is for recording, and the earpiece will let us listen in to the ambient sound one-way. You can also use this communicator to give them commands. We’ll receive the video and audio feeds here."
Shao Wei handed him a small, handheld device with a headset.
"No problem."
Yang Qi took the equipment, placed Liu Fu on a small, temporarily cleared tray table, and soothed it through their mental connection. He then carefully attached the miniature camera slightly off-center on Liu Fu’s back, and affixed the micro-earpiece to the rear side of its head.
He repeated the process with Xiaojiu.
Both Guardian Beasts were very cooperative, showing no signs of discomfort or resistance, merely turning their heads curiously to look at the small new things on their bodies.
"Xiaojiu will be mainly responsible for providing cover from the outside and creating a plausible distraction to draw attention. Liu Fu will be the main infiltrator, responsible for getting inside to record."
Yang Qi stated his plan while checking if the equipment was securely attached. "The situation inside the villa is unknown. I need to have them get close and observe first, then decide on an entry point."
