Working in a Zoo with Beast Taming System

Chapter 434 - 226: Liu Fu’s Performance Time

Chapter 434: Chapter 226: Liu Fu’s Performance Time

"Alright."

Shao Wei had no objections.

He pointed to the 3D diagram of the villa on the screen and said, "This is the original floor plan from the property management office, but the interior renovations could be extensive. The villa has a front and back yard. The walls aren’t high, but there might be surveillance cameras."

"We’ve temporarily jammed several civilian wireless frequencies in that area to avoid interfering with any wireless cameras, but there could still be hardwired ones."

"The target’s building... the kitchen window on the side, according to thermal imaging, doesn’t seem to be completely closed. It’s cracked open, probably for ventilation. The backyard is more secluded and has a lot of trees, which will be good for cover."

Yang Qi jotted down the key information, put on his communication earpiece, and tested it.

He could clearly hear the sounds inside the van. He could also send short, one-way commands to the earpieces worn by his two Guardian Beasts with the push of a button.

"No problem."

Yang Qi nodded at Shao Wei, then looked at Xiaojiu and Liu Fu, sending his final instructions telepathically.

’Xiaojiu, you’ll go over the wall on that side, find a hiding spot in the villa’s backyard, and wait for my command.’

’Liu Fu, follow Xiaojiu. Once you’re in the backyard, find that kitchen window that’s ajar and slip inside.’

’Be careful. Avoid any people. Prioritize finding documents, computers, safes, and similar items.’

’Understood,’ Xiaojiu replied mentally.

’Yes, Master.’

Liu Fu also raised its head. Its bulging eyes turned to Yang Qi, and it gave a slight nod.

"Let’s go."

Yang Qi cradled the two Guardian Beasts and got out of the command vehicle.

Led by a plainclothes officer assigned by Shao Wei, he circled around to a section of wall outside the villa community that was in a surveillance blind spot.

The trees here were dense, and the lighting was dim.

Xiaojiu needed no help. It pushed off with its hind legs, leaping gracefully. Its front paws caught the top of the wall, and with a twist of its body, it silently flipped over, landing on the grass inside. Its figure instantly melted into the darkness.

Liu Fu, on the other hand, shot out from Yang Qi’s hands. Its long tongue lashed out like lightning, wrapping around a protruding vine on the wall. Its body swung up, landing steadily on top. Its skin color instantly changed to match the dusty gray bricks. It paused for half a second to confirm it was safe before slithering over the wall and disappearing.

Yang Qi and the officer quickly returned to the command vehicle.

Inside the van, the atmosphere grew tense.

Several screens switched between the real-time feeds from the cameras on Xiaojiu and Liu Fu, the thermal imaging, and the community’s existing surveillance footage.

The images shook, accompanied by the faint rustling of the animals’ movements.

Xiaojiu’s perspective: It moved like a phantom in the dark, darting between the bushes and rockeries in the villa’s backyard. Its movements were light, its landings silent.

Liu Fu’s perspective: It moved close to the ground and the base of the walls, its camouflage ability making it nearly one with the shadows.

Soon, Liu Fu found the kitchen window Shao Wei had mentioned.

Sure enough, the window was open a crack, about a hand’s width, with a faint light filtering out from inside.

"Liu Fu, go in through the window," Yang Qi transmitted the command through the communicator.

On screen, Liu Fu’s slender body seemed boneless as it easily squeezed through the hand-width gap in the window, landing on the cold marble countertop in the kitchen.

It paused, its bulging eyes swiveling three hundred and sixty degrees, confirming the kitchen was empty and had no obvious surveillance cameras.

"Liu Fu, check every room on the first floor," Yang Qi continued to direct.

Liu Fu began to move.

It stuck to concealed routes along the corners of the walls, under the cabinets, and beside the refrigerator. It moved quickly and quietly through the kitchen, into the adjoining dining room, and then to the living room, study, and guest bathroom...

The miniature camera’s feed was stable and clear, revealing the villa’s luxurious decor, expensive furniture, and various luxury items left lying around.

The technical officer quickly captured screenshots of potentially valuable footage.

The target wasn’t found on the first floor, nor were there any obvious safes or large quantities of documents.

"Liu Fu, head to the second floor," Yang Qi sent the command.

Liu Fu found the stairs but didn’t take them. Instead, it used the uneven surfaces and decorations on the wall to climb directly up to the second-floor hallway like a gecko.

The second floor was quieter, and the light was dimmer.

Liu Fu moved slowly along the hallway, checking several rooms. They were all bedrooms or walk-in closets, with nothing out of the ordinary.

Just as it approached a room at the end of the hall, Yang Qi and everyone else in the van held their breath.

The door to that room was ajar, with light seeping out from within.

Moreover, through the microphone on Liu Fu’s camera, they could faintly hear the rustling of paper coming from inside.

The target was in there!

"Liu Fu, approach the door. Be careful," Yang Qi’s voice dropped even lower.

Liu Fu slowly crept to the edge of the ajar door, carefully poked its head inside, and slipped half its body into the room.

The camera feed showed that the room looked like a home office, with a desk, bookshelves, and a sofa.

At that moment, a middle-aged man in dark pajamas, with a slightly heavyset build seen from behind, was squatting on the floor with his back to the door.

Spread out on the rug in front of him were several thick file folders. Beside him, the door to a silver-gray safe stood open.

"The target’s opened the safe! He’s looking at the files!" Shao Wei whispered, suppressing his excitement.

"Can you get Liu Fu to go in further, or find a high spot to film the contents of the files?" a male officer next to him asked eagerly.

Yang Qi looked at the screen. The target’s squatting position blocked most of the documents.

From its angle at the door, Liu Fu could only capture the edges of the files and the target’s back.

He thought for a moment, and an idea came to him.

"Xiaojiu, go to the backyard, get near the window of the lit room, and make some noise. Just a couple of meows will do," Yang Qi issued the command.

’Understood,’ Xiaojiu replied mentally.

A few seconds later, a few clear meows echoed from the villa’s backyard, startlingly distinct in the quiet night.

"MEOW~ MEOW~"

On screen, the body of the man squatting on the floor clearly tensed up. The rustling of paper stopped.

He warily raised his head, listening intently. Then he slowly stood up, tiptoed to the window, carefully pulled the curtain aside a crack, and peered out nervously.

Now was the chance!

"Liu Fu, get inside the room and climb to the top of the bookshelf," Yang Qi ordered immediately.

Liu Fu, at the door, shot forward like an arrow released from a bow. Its slender body became a nearly invisible blur as it WHOOSHED into the room. It avoided the target’s line of sight and swiftly scaled the tall, solid wood bookshelf nearby. In just a few movements, it reached the top edge and lay flat, its bulging eyes pointing down, the camera aimed at the open files on the floor.

The target seemed to relax after hearing the cat. Muttering "Stupid cat," he let the curtain fall, turned, and walked back to the files. He squatted down again, his attention returning to the documents.

He was completely unaware that an uninvited guest had appeared on the bookshelf above him, taking in his every move and the contents of the files on the floor that could very well decide his fate.

"Yes! Well done!"

Shao Wei couldn’t help but pump his fist. The technical officer immediately took control of the camera on Liu Fu, adjusting the focus to clearly capture the titles on the files, some of the content, and even the stacks of cash and several manila envelopes faintly visible inside the safe.

"Got it!"

The officer said excitedly, looking at an enlarged page of a document on the screen.

"That’s a ledger! And remittance slips!"

Success!
