A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 232: Setting Out for Beijing

Chapter 232: Chapter 232: Setting Out for Beijing

"Although they won’t get divorced, there will definitely be one less meal." Aunt Liu was sure that Zhang Xiaomei wouldn’t swallow her pride like that.

Fu Xiaoxiao agreed, she and Aunt Liu had just heard what Zhang Xiaomei said. How could she just let Grandma Wang bully her like that?

They’ve made the call, so someone will surely be coming over.

No telling what kind of scene it’ll be by then.

"Chen Xiu left, and now you’re leaving too. There’s really no one left in this courtyard who I can talk to." Aunt Liu suddenly became sentimental. There used to be Chen Xiu, but now she’s gone, and Fu Xiaoxiao is leaving too.

Those prideful ones are even less likely to talk to her.

The courtyard suddenly felt empty.

"Aunt Liu, we’re just being transferred, and we might come back after a while!" Fu Xiaoxiao smiled and comforted her. Lu Feng might be transferred back in a few years.

"Silly girl, are you really that clueless? Once you’re transferred out, of course, you’re trying to find a way to stay. How could you come back? People need to look forward." Aunt Liu lightly patted Fu Xiaoxiao, expressing her frustration at her lack of ambition.

Once you’re out, you’re out in style, there’s no coming back.

You have to establish your roots there.

"I certainly don’t wish for your return!" Aunt Liu patted Xiaoxiao’s hand seriously.

"Alright then, I’ll take your good words to heart." Fu Xiaoxiao nodded with a smile, nobody dislikes being wished well.

She was no exception.

The subsequent events, Fu Xiaoxiao heard from Lu Chen and Lu Lin.

Zhang Xiaomei’s parents came from afar to take her back home, no matter how much Wang Wenqiang pleaded, it was useless, and Grandma Wang nearly knelt down. The Zhang Family stood their ground, not bowing their heads at all.

Before Zhang Xiaomei left, she nodded to Lu Chen and Lu Lin, giving Lan Lin a grateful look before leaving.

If it weren’t for Lu Lin reminding her, she might not have dared to resist and would have obediently drunk the medicine her mother-in-law made for her.

Wang Wenqiang turned around and sent his mother back to the countryside, no matter how she cried, he was determined to send her back.

Fu Xiaoxiao was unaware of the subsequent events because she had already boarded the truck heading for Beijing. Wang Lu, accompanied by the soldiers under Lu Feng’s command, loaded all of the family’s belongings onto the vehicle.

Even though there was no tearful goodbye, Fu Xiaoxiao could feel the blessings in their eyes.

They were soldiers of few words but true brothers.

Lin Xue and Lin Qiu, with tears in their eyes, hugged Fu Xiaoxiao tightly.

"When you get there, you must write to us!" Lin Xue repeatedly urged Fu Xiaoxiao to write as soon as she arrived.

Fu Xiaoxiao hugged them and gently patted their backs, "You too, you must be happy!"

"There are no permanent banquets, but I believe we’ll reunite one day." Fu Xiaoxiao held their hands firmly and said earnestly.

Lin Qiu nodded, choking back her tears.

"You must be happy too!" Lin Xue said, finally unable to hold back her tears.

Fu Cheng walked over to Lu Feng and suddenly punched him on the shoulder.

"If things don’t go well, just come back!"

Lu Feng chuckled, knowing it was Fu Cheng’s way of wishing him well. "I’ve already told Uncle Liu, you need to earn some military merits. When you get married, remember to invite me to your wedding."

"I’ll catch up to you." Fu Cheng glanced at him and snorted lightly.

"I’ll be waiting for you." Lu Feng’s lips curved upwards.

"Lu Tuan." Wang Lu choked up, struggling to keep his tears in check.

He had been with Lu Feng since he joined the army, following him from being a small soldier to now.

"Why cry? If you go with me, are you abandoning your wife?" Lu Feng lightly patted Wang Lu’s shoulder. Wang Lu originally could have gone to Beijing with him.

However, Lu Feng knew that Wang Lu had been torn for a long time, uncertain about choosing between his career and Lin Xue.

Lu Feng made the decision for him, leaving him here.

"I want her." Tears streaming down his face, Wang Lu chose his wife.

"Since you’ve made your decision, take good care of her. Lin Xue is considered your sister-in-law’s sister, and you’re also like a brother to me," Lu Feng said seriously. "Lin Xue is a good girl. You can slowly accumulate military merits, but if you miss Lin Xue, it will be hard to encounter someone like her again."

"Mhm." Wang Lu nodded firmly.

"Alright, it’s time to go! If we drag it out any longer, we’ll miss the time." Checking the time, Lu Feng turned to Fu Xiaoxiao and said.

Fu Xiaoxiao was helped into the car, sitting in the front passenger seat, watching the people at the entrance of the military base bid them farewell in the rearview mirror.

"Thank you, Lu Tuan, for taking care of us. Wish you a smooth journey!"

Wang Lu and the others shouted in unison, saluting in their direction.

Finally unable to hold back, their eyes welled up with tears.

"We’ll meet again one day," Lu Feng gently rubbed her face, comforting her.

"Mhm." Holding onto Lu Lin and Lu Chen, Fu Xiaoxiao nodded gently.

When the vehicle began to slowly move, Fu Xiaoxiao saw Liu Hongjun’s silhouette.

"Lu Feng, it’s Uncle Liu."

Lu Feng paused for a moment and shook his head.

"Just let it be. Some things don’t need to be said."

Lu Feng’s words made Fu Xiaoxiao sigh. She extended her head to wave towards Liu Hongjun’s direction.

Liu Hongjun saw Fu Xiaoxiao, his eyes lit up, and he waved at her. Not seeing Lu Feng, his eyes dimmed.

The years of feelings with Lu Feng tore into pieces that day.

Liu Hongjun was too ashamed to face Lu Feng and didn’t want to see Sun Ya either, shutting himself in the rest room of the military base, refusing to see anyone.

Sun Ya came several times, humbling herself and begging him to come home, but Liu Hongjun remained unmoved.

He found Sun Ya terrifying; after being by his side for so many years, he felt he had never truly understood his partner.

If it weren’t for Lu Feng leaving, Liu Hongjun still wouldn’t have come out.

As the truck gradually disappeared from view, Liu Hongjun let out a heavy sigh.

After Lu Feng left, Liu Heng was also about to set off for Hai City.

Sun Ya stuffed all their belongings into her son’s luggage, hoping Liu Heng could make her proud.

"Your father has been moody lately. When you go to Hai City this time, don’t disappoint him. Work hard to accomplish something great and let him see that you’re no less than that bastard... Lu Feng."

Sun Ya patted Liu Heng’s shoulder, encouraging him.

She was risking the ruin of her relationship with Liu Hongjun to send her son to Hai City, all for him to shine brightly. Then Liu Hongjun would realize her good intentions.

Her son, Sun Ya’s son, is the best.

She had to leave Liu Hongjun astonished, delivering a proverbial slap to his face.

Making him realize he had underestimated his son’s capabilities!

Listening to Sun Ya’s incessant nagging, each word of expectation transformed into pressure, weighing heavily on Liu Heng.

"I know, Mom, I’m leaving now." Picking up his luggage, Liu Heng hurriedly walked out.

He wanted to prove to his father that he too was capable, a child of a lion wasn’t a puppy, and he could also be his pride.

As Liu Heng walked out the door, he noticed his father’s car already parked at the entrance. Liu Heng immediately lugged his bag to the car.

Opening the car door, Liu Hongjun indeed awaited him inside.

"Dad!" Liu Heng looked towards Liu Hongjun.
