Chapter 233: The Fu Family Has Arrived

Chapter 233: Chapter 233: The Fu Family Has Arrived

Liu Hongjun looked at his son, Liu Heng’s features resembled Sun Ya more, and his personality as well. Liu Hongjun always thought the family was harmonious, only to find out now that his own home was a mess.

"When you go to Hai City, don’t push yourself. Do as much as your ability allows, and don’t strive for grand things." Liu Hongjun advised seriously.

Liu Heng listened to Liu Hongjun’s words and couldn’t help but frown.

"Dad, am I that bad in your eyes?" Liu Heng felt that Liu Hongjun belittled him.

"Beyond the skies, there are higher skies; beyond people, there are better people. Hai City is a place with fierce competition; one wrong step, and you might..." Liu Hongjun looked at the stubborn expression on Liu Heng’s face and silently stopped speaking.

Knowing that he hadn’t listened to his advice at all, that unwilling gaze still misunderstood his sincere intentions.

"Dad, I am your son." Liu Heng felt his mood was very sour; in Liu Hongjun’s eyes, he could never compare to Lu Feng.

"I’ve never denied you’re my son. I know how much ability you have. Since your mom chose Hai City for you, as your father, I also hope for your success!" Liu Hongjun said sternly to Liu Heng.

"Dad, I will make you proud. I won’t let you look down on me." Liu Heng felt a tightness in his chest, vowing to make Liu Hongjun hold him in higher regard.

"Hmm." Liu Hongjun said no more, and sent Liu Heng to the station, watching as Liu Heng boarded the train.

Returning to the unit, Liu Hongjun felt lost. Upon entering the office, he heard someone reporting outside the door.

"Leader, someone specifically asks to see Lu Tuan and Madam." Wang Lu knocked and walked in, speaking to Liu Hongjun.

"Who?" Liu Hongjun raised his eyebrows, Lu Feng and Fu Xiaoxiao had already departed yesterday, how could someone be here to find her now?

Wang Lu led the person to Liu Hongjun’s office. Liu Hongjun looked at the person in front of him; even standing there, their eyes kept darting around.

Liu Hongjun raised an eyebrow and casually sipped his tea.

"What is your relationship to Lu Feng?"

Fu Xiaocui and Fu Minghua looked at Liu Hongjun, Fu Xiaocui nervously swallowed, witnessing such a high-ranking leader for the first time.

"Greetings, Leader. I am Fu Xiaoxiao’s father, Fu Minghua, pleased to meet you. This is my youngest daughter, Fu Xiaocui. Xiaocui, quickly say hello."

Fu Minghua smiled at Liu Hongjun.

"H-hello." Fu Xiaocui stammered nervously.

"Why have you come to the unit?" Liu Hongjun nodded and asked.

"It’s like this, we had a minor conflict with my daughter. That girl is quick-tempered, threatening to sever ties with the family. So, I brought my younger daughter to apologize to her, hoping she wouldn’t be angry. This year, she hasn’t wanted to come home, so as her father, I came personally to invite her."

Fu Minghua said awkwardly.

His few words painted Fu Xiaoxiao as a hot-tempered, impatient, and ungrateful daughter who hasn’t returned home for New Year, and has forced her father to personally come apologize.

Liu Hongjun cast a bland glance at Fu Minghua.

If he hadn’t known Fu Xiaoxiao well enough, knowing that the girl wasn’t at all like what Fu Minghua depicted, he might have been negatively influenced by his words.

Heartwrenching deceit, this Fu Minghua truly came to tarnish Fu Xiaoxiao’s reputation.

"Once, my sister argued with me; she saw our parents favored me somewhat, which upset her. We are family, it’s not good to keep things unresolved, so my dad and I came to apologize to my sister and beg her for forgiveness." Fu Xiaocui recalled their purpose for coming and matched Fu Minghua’s words with a sorrowful expression.

But her acting was somewhat exaggerated, her eyes darting around the moment she entered, now feigning sadness which was obvious to anyone keen.

Do they think he’s blind?

Liu Hongjun pressed his lips lightly.

"You say you are relatives of Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao, but her information does not list any family members, and we have checked around the local area; she is indeed alone." Liu Hongjun stated calmly, observing Fu Minghua and Fu Xiaocui with scrutinizing sight.

Having severed ties, how does he still have the audacity to pretend to be a benevolent father?

"Leader, it’s really a misunderstanding. The kid is just too hasty and impulsive!" Fu Minghua said with a face full of anguish. "That day when arguing, she was overly emotional, insisting on severing ties with us."

"Could the Leader kindly speak to the child for us, we’ve truly realized our mistake and will comply with her wishes, asking her not to lose her temper anymore." Fu Minghua’s words painted Fu Xiaoxiao as an unforgiving girl.

"I truly cannot speak on this matter, with only your words, can you prove you’re related to Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao?" Liu Hongjun wouldn’t be swayed by Fu Minghua’s words.

"Do you have any evidence that she’s your child? Birth certificate? Household registration?" Liu Hongjun lifted his gaze at Fu Minghua, and indeed, upon hearing this, Fu Minghua’s face changed.

Knowing he couldn’t provide any of these items.

Back then, he didn’t even consider leaving Fu Xiaoxiao an out, completely severing things by moving her out of the household registry, leaving no trace of Fu Xiaoxiao at home.

He didn’t expect Fu Xiaoxiao’s opportunity to come now, and wanting to bring her back has only stripped them of power.

"The...the kid was causing a big scene then, moved the household registration herself, and the birth certificate is also gone..." Fu Minghua tried to shift all blame onto Fu Xiaoxiao, but how could Liu Hongjun be that easily fooled?

"Is that so? Then could you explain why she insisted on severing ties with you? What was the issue? What argument did you have?" Liu Hongjun directed his gaze at Fu Xiaocui, dragging her into the intense questioning.

"This kid is too nervous, maybe I..." Fu Minghua saw things were about to go awry with Fu Xiaocui and hurriedly attempted to intercept.

"You weren’t there for this incident, it’s necessary to ask the person involved. Why did Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao argue with you to such a serious degree that would lead to severing ties?" Liu Hongjun’s inquiry was directed at Fu Xiaocui.

Fu Minghua’s attempt to intervene was repelled by Liu Hongjun, leaving him unable to talk.

"Just...she wanted my clothes, and I wasn’t willing..." Fu Xiaocui stammered, but was too nervous, speaking incoherently. "She deliberately found faults with me, always saw me unfavorably, whatever I did she found issues, scrutinizing me on everything..."

Fu Xiaocui continued accusing, painting Fu Xiaoxiao as narrow-minded.

Liu Hongjun listened silently to Fu Xiaocui’s accusations, resting his chin on one hand, looking at her.

"If she’s truly such a person, why does everyone in the unit like her? She’s kind, personable, never loses her temper..."

"Completely different from what you described? How can you explain this?"
