Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 117: Iron Bull’s Companions

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Iron Bull’s Companions

Yang Bo looked at these Advanced Mecha and thought to himself what a pity it was. If he sold these things to the Pirates, wouldn’t they fetch a fortune? Unfortunately, selling them was impossible. Even if there were buyers, it wouldn’t work. If the mecha companies found out someone had casually gained access to their Advanced Mecha, they would probably hunt the culprit down across the entire interstellar space.

To make matters worse, these mecha didn’t belong to just one company—they came from several. Selling them meant offending every single one of those mecha companies.

"Why aren’t you eating?" Yang Bo had already modified the access permissions for these Advanced Mecha. He brought them over to Iron Bull and handed one to it while charging his own mecha.

As for the battery permissions and the like, it only took him half a minute to bypass them.

Iron Bull stared fixedly at Yang Bo with its small eyes. Then, it suddenly turned, took two steps away, and looked back at him.

Yang Bo was a bit puzzled.

Iron Bull took a few more steps and looked back again.

"Do you want me to follow you, or do you want me to bring the mecha along?" Yang Bo gestured in confusion. First, he pointed to himself following Iron Bull, and then he gestured toward the mecha following behind it.

Seeing Yang Bo’s gestures, Iron Bull shook its head and wagged its tail in response.

"You want me to bring the mecha?

"Are you going to settle the score with a powerful enemy or something?" Yang Bo wondered aloud, feeling a thrill of anticipation over what Iron Bull planned to do with him and this army of mecha.

With that, he reconfigured the mecha once more. He set them to spare only himself and Iron Bull; anything else they encountered on the way was fair game, though they were programmed to target based on a specific Energy Fluctuations threshold.

Yang Bo marched behind Iron Bull, trailing a long line of mecha. They soon ran into Mutants. Upon seeing so many Advanced Mecha, some of the Mutant sentries didn’t even have time to react before being blown to smithereens, exploding like fireworks. The rest scrambled to report the intrusion.

The Underworld was instantly thrown into an uproar. Such a massive fleet of Advanced Mecha was on the move, and no one knew their destination. Every Mutant Tribe along their path trembled in fear. The tribes of the Underworld were incredibly resourceful, using various animals they controlled to track the mecha’s movements. Whenever the mecha marched past their own territory, the tribes would breathe a collective sigh of relief. As they watched the mecha enter a neighboring tribe’s domain, they secretly hoped the mechanical army would march right in and wipe their neighbors off the map.

Some Mutant Tribes even assumed this was the Alliance retaliating against the Mutants. Since these mecha were unmanned, it simply wasn’t worth risking their lives against such scrap metal.

Iron Bull was clearly extremely familiar with this Underworld, moving swiftly through the tunnels.

Yang Bo noticed that the skin on Iron Bull’s body seemed to be growing brighter, faintly shimmering with a golden glow.

"Could the Energy Stone be taking effect?" Yang Bo wondered.

The structure of the Underworld was incredibly complex. As they traveled, Yang Bo quickly lost his bearings. Furthermore, the radar interference down here was severe. It wasn’t that no one had ever tried to map the underground routes with instruments, but the interference completely scrambled positioning systems. A difference of just a few meters would yield completely different readings; even a one-meter margin of error could lead someone entirely astray.

This was because the layout was three-dimensional. A lower tunnel might be just a meter away from an upper one, and the left passage might only be a meter from the right. Add to that the frequent subterranean floods, earthquakes, battles between Mutants, and clashes among Exotic Beasts. Magma eruptions and the artificial destruction or repairing of tunnels by Mutants also constantly altered the terrain.

However, as long as one followed the draft upward, they could generally find their way back to the surface.

The Mutant Tribes were extremely covetous of this large convoy of Advanced Mecha. Many of the Rare Metals used in Advanced Mecha did not originate from this planet. Even if they did, mining them would be a massive hassle. After all, the Alliance possessed mining robots and similar technologies, making their efficiency countless times higher than that of the Mutants. Sometimes, the Alliance would even blast Mineral Stars into pieces before directly harvesting the materials.

Along the way, the convoy attracted the attention of quite a few advanced Mutants from afar. These Mutants glanced at their companions and let out cold scoffs. Yet, no one retreated, and no one left. They all knew that against so many Advanced Mecha, individual strength was severely limited.

At first, Yang Bo was brimming with confidence, believing his mecha army to be invincible. But as they pressed on, he realized something was wrong. More and more Mutants seemed to be tailing them.

His scalp immediately prickled with dread. It suddenly dawned on him why the Alliance outposts were built on the surface rather than underground—there was an unimaginable number of Mutants lurking down here.

"Iron Bull, hurry up!" Yang Bo shouted at the beast leading the way.

Iron Bull seemed to understand him. Emitting a faint silver glow, its entire body suddenly darted forward at blinding speed.

Yang Bo also piloted his mecha to accelerate instantly, and the rest of the mecha followed in a neat line right behind him.

From behind, Yang Bo heard the explosive sounds of Laser Cannon fire shattering rock. Iron Bull seemed to hear the Laser Cannon strikes too. In a flash, its figure darted toward the rear of the convoy.

Soon after, a series of fierce roars echoed from the back. Yang Bo felt torn. He had set the mecha to follow one another in a single-file line; if he turned back now, the entire formation would be thrown into chaos.

Fortunately, a few minutes later, Iron Bull returned to the front, shaking its head and wagging its tail.

Yang Bo had no idea how the battle had played out. Furthermore, he hadn’t gained any new Skills this time. It seemed that because he hadn’t personally participated in the fight, he got nothing—leaving him with a slight twinge of regret.

Following that clash, Yang Bo sensed that the number of eyes spying on them from the shadows was only increasing.

After traveling for half a day, Yang Bo was just about to look for an opportunity to fight the Mutants when he suddenly noticed that Iron Bull was heading upward. He made a rough estimate. Over this half-day, they had covered over a thousand kilometers. The mecha in the back were practically relying entirely on their Rocket Backpacks to keep up the pace.

The golden glow radiating from Iron Bull grew increasingly intense. What had started as a faint shimmer had now developed into large, distinct patches of gold spreading across its skin.

After climbing for more than an hour, Yang Bo found himself emerging into a canyon. The mountains on both sides were incredibly tall and shrouded in mist, while the valley floor was blanketed with vast stretches of grassland and shrubs.

Just before they fully emerged, Iron Bull had blocked Yang Bo’s path, gesturing for him to leave the mecha at the canyon’s exit.

This left Yang Bo feeling quite puzzled.

The canyon wasn’t particularly wide, measuring roughly ten kilometers across. The cliffs on either side were sheer and precipitous, stretching high into the dense clouds above.

"ROAR!" Right at that moment, Iron Bull let out a furious roar that echoed throughout the entire canyon.

While Yang Bo was still bewildered, an identical roar answered from the distance.

"Have we arrived at Iron Bull’s home turf?

"Makes sense. Iron Bull didn’t just spring from the earth. It must have a mother, a father, and maybe even a big brother who stole the alpha spot, a little brother, and so on."

What happened the very next second left Yang Bo utterly dumbfounded. From dozens of meters in the air, a faint flash of golden light plummeted downward. A rhinoceros landed on the ground, its entire body covered in golden stripes. Yang Bo immediately went on high alert, because it seemed this thing could actually fly.
