Chapter 118: Chapter 118: An Existence Beyond Comprehension
PS: I’ve caught a cold and my stomach is upset. I’ll only release four Chapters today. Sorry about that.
The very next second, Yang Bo was dumbfounded. He watched as Iron Bull charged forward, and then the two affectionately bumped heads.
"They don’t look like enemies. They look more like blood brothers," Yang Bo thought, observing them closely through his mecha. They really were brothers—or at least, they were of the same gender. Yang Bo had no idea what information Iron Bull was exchanging through the head-bumping. Ten minutes later, Iron Bull brought the other rhinoceros over.
This other rhinoceros looked slightly smaller than Iron Bull, but it exuded even greater Power. Its horn was also adorned with streaks of golden patterns. The creature stared at Yang Bo with its small eyes, leaving Yang Bo completely clueless about its intentions. It was Iron Bull who finally stood by the exit of the Underworld and bobbed his head a few times.
Yang Bo instantly understood. Iron Bull wanted him to bring the mechas out from the Underworld. Left with no other choice, Yang Bo modified the system permissions once more, setting them to not attack rhinoceroses or similar animals. He then led a long string of mechas out of the underground entrance.
Iron Bull’s brother—no, more accurately, Iron Bull’s companion—eyed the mechas warily. Iron Bull and his companion then took the lead, while Yang Bo followed behind with his convoy of mechas, heading deeper into the valley. Strangely enough, the Mutants that had been trailing the mechas earlier did not follow them here, for reasons unknown.
Before long, Yang Bo spotted other rhinoceroses. There were robust adults and adorable calves, coming in shades of black, gray, and silver. These rhinoceroses all watched the unfolding scene, their small eyes filled with confusion and their little ears perked up.
It seemed this wasn’t the only valley; there were branching paths in the middle. The rhinoceros population here was quite large, but they were predominantly black and gray. The silver ones made up a very small minority. Golden ones were entirely absent. The valley was incredibly long, stretching for over two hundred kilometers, and featured numerous forks. The terrain was covered in grass and shrubs, which were evidently the rhinoceroses’ food source.
After walking for about an hour, Yang Bo saw a pitch-black pit at one end of the valley, billowing with thick smoke and dust.
"A magma vent?" Yang Bo wondered, looking at the spot before him. The next second, Iron Bull turned around and shook his head a few times. When Yang Bo didn’t quite understand, Iron Bull repeated the motion. Yang Bo finally grasped the gist of it. He took control of the mechas, repositioning them to form a perimeter around the cave entrance. Immediately after, Iron Bull charged to the edge of the pit and let out a furious roar into the depths. Then, he quickly sprinted back and hid behind the mechas with his companion.
"Did he bring me here to help him fight his enemies?" Yang Bo realized instantly. Iron Bull wanted him to act as hired muscle. Before Yang Bo could even react, the mechas around him simultaneously opened fire. Slithering out from the cave entrance were numerous pitch-black snakes. The larger ones were four or five meters long, while the smaller ones measured about two or three meters.
Fire Energy Control +2!
Fire Energy Control +4!
Fire Energy Control +2!
...
The information flashing in his mind left Yang Bo astounded. These were actually Mutated Beasts with Fire Energy Control! If these things were taken to the Alliance...
"Pfft, no way. These are all mine. Nobody else is getting their hands on them!" Yang Bo thought. He had absolutely no intention of selling them as crafting materials. If he did, who knew how many new Superpower Users with Fire Element Control would emerge? Even one more person with Fire Element Control would be a competitor. With this many materials, how many people would awaken their powers? That would be a surefire recipe for digging his own grave through unbearable competition.
The Mutated Beasts that had been blasted into fiery explosions immediately retreated. Yang Bo piloted his mecha to the pit and discovered that the entrance slanted downwards. Casually, he grabbed a Miniature Hydrogen Bomb from one of the mechas behind him and tossed it in. With a deafening BOOM, another string of Fire Energy Control Skill notifications flooded his mind, accompanied by rocks, smoke, and debris erupting from the cave entrance.
Yang Bo’s eyes lit up. He couldn’t believe such a fantastic place existed! Just as he was about to head down, he saw Iron Bull blocking his path.
"There are even more powerful ones down there?" Yang Bo thought, his eyes gleaming as he watched Iron Bull’s gestures. After Yang Bo took a few steps back, Iron Bull also hastily retreated to a safe distance. It seemed there really was a formidable creature down there. However, Yang Bo wasn’t afraid in the slightest. He grabbed two Shock Wave Bombs from the rear mechas and tossed them down the hole. This time, he set a longer timer. It took a long while before a massive BOOM echoed from the depths.
Yang Bo received another wave of Fire Energy Control Skills, nearly bursting into laughter. Having a local guide like Iron Bull leading the way was simply exhilarating. He wondered if Iron Bull had any other enemies... Hahaha!
Suddenly, Iron Bull let out a cry. Yang Bo hurriedly pulled out two more Hydrogen Bombs and hurled them into the pit. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to toss them continuously, but rather that he needed to wait for the Mutated Beasts below to gather first. A massive cloud of smoke and dust surged outwards, accompanied by propelled rocks and a deafening BOOM. The entrance was lined with cooled magma, and even so, the blast sent countless stones flying in all directions.
Following the explosion, a colossal pillar of fire erupted from the pitch-black pit, and an even larger snake emerged. However, the moment it appeared, the mechas in the rear unleashed a barrage of Lasers. The scales on the snake’s body ruptured under the heavy fire. A split second later, a crimson Energy Shield suddenly materialized around the creature.
"Holy crap!" Yang Bo exclaimed. This was the first time he had ever seen a Mutated Beast capable of deploying an Energy Shield. This was something exclusively reserved for Warships and Advanced mechas, yet Mutant Animals actually had it too! Beam after beam of Lasers struck the Energy Shield, causing it to flicker erratically.
The next second, the massive snake actually pulled its head back. Just as Yang Bo thought the creature was trying to flee, a stream of crimson liquid sprayed out from the cave entrance. Yang Bo instantly triggered his Flying Backpack, dodging to the side in a flash. The crimson liquid landed on the Advanced mechas. Like candles meeting boiling water, the Advanced mechas melted instantly and burst into flames.
Yang Bo winced. A second, third, and fourth stream of liquid continuously sprayed out from the cave in a parabolic arc. At this rate, the mechas he had brought along were going to be completely ruined by this monster. He leaped over to a few intact mechas, directly activated the Miniature Nuclear Bombs strapped to them, and hurled the mechas straight into the pit.
Seeing something flying in, the snake inside the pit opened its maw and spat a stream of liquid. However, the Miniature Hydrogen Bomb on the mecha detonated the next second. Countless shrapnel pieces and a tremendous explosive force left the snake’s head ringing. Right at that moment, the second mecha Yang Bo had thrown plummeted down. Seeing this, the snake headbutted the mecha, sending it flying back out.
The mecha exploded in mid-air, which was exactly the effect Yang Bo had been aiming for. In the next instant, Yang Bo piloted his Energy Mecha and drew his Energy Battle Saber. He leaped towards the cave entrance, simultaneously firing up the mecha’s Flying Backpack. Spotting yet another mecha descending, the massive snake inside the pit whipped its head around, slamming viciously towards Yang Bo’s mecha.
