Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 73: Hello Everyone

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Hello, Everyone

"The term ’Genetic Evolver’ isn’t exactly accurate. To be precise, it should be ’Superpower User.’ The reason they are called Genetic Evolvers is so that ordinary people without abilities won’t feel like they live in a completely different world from Superpower Users.

"Superpower Users are primarily identified through blood tests, which check cell strength and the intrinsic Energy of the cells. Biological cells possess many incredible abilities—some creatures are highly venomous, some emit light or electricity, and others even release sonar.

"Superpower Users roughly fall into three categories. The first is the Power category, which essentially means an overall enhancement of physical fitness. Differentiating them is simple—just test their Power. An E-level can throw a punch with a minimum force of one ton, though some naturally awaken with three or four tons. D-level starts at a minimum of five tons, C-level at thirty tons, B-level punches at a minimum of one hundred and fifty tons, and A-level at five hundred tons. Of course, there’s more to it. An A-level Power attribute user also has terrifying Defense, and their speed reaches an unimaginable level. The specifics depend on the individual, as everyone is different—some lean towards speed, while others lean towards Defense.

"Another category is the Elemental Master. These individuals control physical elements like fire, water, electricity, earth, air, ice, Metal, and the like. If you encounter someone like this in the future, be careful. They are the most troublesome because their registration test likely only evaluated Power. So, when you think you’re facing an E-level Genetic Evolver, they might hit you with a fireball the next second. Identifying them requires a blood test, and even then, there’s no strict definition. For example, I know a Wind Attribute Superpower User. To sum him up in one word: fast. So fast that most Mechas can’t even catch up to him.

"However, Elemental Masters only make up about 5% of all Evolvers. So, if you ever run into one, run as fast as you can.

"The last category is the mysterious ability user. These are people with abilities no one has ever seen before, and they are the trickiest of all. Remember what I said earlier? Someone touched a Warplane and instantly gained full access. Ever since then, all Weapon and equipment exhibition halls have been shielded, and their Energy sources—like Mecha batteries—are removed at night.

"Some people estimate that this person was an incredibly rare electronic-type Superpower User. It’s one thing if someone like that controls Warplanes, but what if they try to control people? Especially those implanted with Biological Chips. Don’t you think it would be a breeze for them?"

Hearing this, Yang Bo asked in astonishment, "Shouldn’t chips be more secure than that?"

"Heh, you said it yourself, they’re chips. If the voltage gets too high, problems will occur, even with Biological Chips. Let alone chips, if the voltage is too high, even the human brain can’t handle it. That’s exactly why Energy Armors were invented.

"The human brain is the greatest weakness. Look at those guys from the Red Earl; why do you think they wear Helmets?

"High-Energy Beams and high-energy particles in the universe also damage the brain, unless you’re a mysterious Evolver leaning towards the intelligence aspect. Yang Bo, you might not know this, but there is a type of person who can exert several tons—even tens of tons—of pressure using just their Spiritual Power. I know of someone who destroyed a Mecha with just Spiritual Power.

"The rating for these kinds of people is A+, a level that doesn’t exist on any official document.

"The barrier formed by their Spiritual Power is comparable to an Energy Shield."

Hearing this, Yang Bo nodded. "That’s terrifying."

"There’s also another type of person—the legendary S-level. It’s said that out of the three nations, each has one such person. I don’t know if it’s true, but supposedly, these individuals have completely converted their bodies into Energy. Think about it: how fast does Energy travel? Even an entire Fleet wouldn’t be able to do anything to them because they can’t be locked onto. No matter how Advanced your Weapons are, if you can’t lock onto a target, you’re flying blind." The reason the fat boss was willing to explain so much was to let Yang Bo know more, so that when they arrived at the new location, the company could start playing its tricks. Companies like the fat boss’s—with their point-exchange systems and corporate training—what were they for? Weren’t they all just a setup to exploit their employees?

Yang Bo feigned a look of profound shock and asked, "If their bodies are converted into Energy, doesn’t that make them immortal?"

"I don’t know, but based on my years of experience, probably not. The Energy within a body has limits. Even a star with all its immense Energy will extinguish one day, let alone a human," the fat boss said, shaking his head.

Yang Bo thought about it and agreed. Even he needed to recharge; without Energy in his body, he couldn’t use any Skills.

Without Energy, no Superpower could be utilized. This was a major shortcoming for Superpower Users. The Energy of Mechas and Warships was virtually limitless—how could a human compare?

"You should read more books. You have to make your own choices. Whether it’s Secret Techniques or Ancient Martial Arts, the success rate on the first try isn’t very high. That guy over there? It took him nine tries to succeed," the fat boss said, glancing at a man nearby.

Yang Bo took a look and realized it was the guy who lived upstairs from him. That poor sucker took nine tries—who knew how much money and how many points he had burned through.

"Now, that guy earns up to tens of millions of Credit Points a year." The fat boss occasionally painted a rosy picture for Yang Bo.

Yang Bo put on an envious expression—fake, of course. Back on Earth, he had been fed empty promises plenty of times. But empty promises were just that: empty.

Yang Bo wondered if he should just terminate his contract with the company once he reached the March Star. He was a resident anyway, so the penalty fee shouldn’t be too exorbitant. He was ready to settle down and live a normal life. Doing dirty work for the fat boss was risky. Once he entered that circle, trying to leave might lead to an "accident."

"The company will systematically train you all.

"But you must work hard yourselves. Becoming an Evolver comes with numerous benefits. All these employees here previously failed their Genetic Potion injections.

"You have to trust in the company’s strength.

"The company will never mistreat excellent employees. Once we arrive, I’ll arrange for you to undergo Genetic Evolution as soon as possible. If you succeed, you can take on Advanced assignments. The company won’t charge you any points or money for this one.

"So, you should keep reading, especially the basics of Ancient Martial Arts. Let me know if you notice anything unusual."

Pretending to be thrilled, Yang Bo said, "Thank you, boss! Since I came out here with you, I’ll follow your lead and work hard for you from now on."

"Good, good, good," the fat boss replied repeatedly, clearly very satisfied with Yang Bo’s reaction.

A month passed, and Yang Bo grew accustomed to the routine: free food and drinks, free games, and going home to sleep at night—even if "nighttime" was merely simulated on a giant screen.

"What’s going on?" One night, a month later, Yang Bo was sleeping when he noticed the artificial window. It should have been dark, but it suddenly lit up.

"Hello, everyone! It’s a pleasure to meet you all. We are the Silver Moon Interstellar Pirate Gang. We have now taken complete control of the entire Baisha Transport Ship. We hope you will cooperate with us for the remainder of the journey. I know there are many Superpower Users among you, but we have Battle Armors, Mechas, and Warplanes. Most importantly, we have a Warship.

"We don’t want to hurt anyone, because every single one of you can fetch us a good price! Haha!" The artificial window transformed into a large screen, displaying a figure clad in black Energy Armor, complete with a black Helmet visor. On their chest was a silver crescent moon insignia.

Yang Bo froze for a moment before scrambling out of bed and rushing out of his room. Fortunately, the door opened; it hadn’t been locked by the system. He found that many people were already outside. The fat boss was staring at the large screen with a dark expression. Actually, every screen in sight was broadcasting the exact same scene.
