Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 74: Brutal Pirates

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Brutal Pirates

Everyone’s faces turned grim as they looked at the distant Warship. Warships varied in size, but no matter how large this transport ship was, it was no match for a Warship. Although the enemy’s Warship was small, it was equipped with an Energy Shield, warship-grade Laser Cannons, and even other Energy Weapons.

What Yang Bo couldn’t figure out was how these Pirates had managed to board the transport ship. Were they joking? Was he sure this wasn’t a fucking trap?

Intercepting a transport ship in the vast sea of stars was incredibly difficult. This wasn’t like being on the ground, where there was only one road...

"Boss, I suspect there’s a conspiracy," a young man said. Yang Bo took a look and recognized him as the guy who lived above his dorm room.

The plump boss took a deep breath. "It’s probably those bastards from Pado Star. I was wondering why the approval was so easy this time. Those sons of bitches."

"Boss, what about our company?"

"All of you wait here. I’ll try to negotiate with them. If it really doesn’t work, then we’ll make our move," Liu Zhijie said, hoping to use the company’s reputation to test the waters.

At that moment, the large screen began broadcasting. The pirate inside shouted arrogantly, "Below is a Top Level cabin. There are two registered Rank B Genetic Evolvers here, along with over twenty Genetic Evolvers of other ranks. Let’s see who dares to object."

The Pirates opened the cabin. Yang Bo took a look and was astounded. Inside, there was actually a lawn and a garden. The ceiling height was at least four hundred meters, and there were several castle-like buildings spread across an area of four or five square kilometers. There were even some pets on the grass, though he didn’t know if they were real. Ah, the world of the rich—it was surrounded by blue skies and white clouds.

One of the Pirates fired a Laser beam from his Laser Gun, hitting a cow. The cow was blown apart, revealing a Metal structure inside. The pirate leader was followed by Mechas and over a dozen Pirates wearing Energy Armor.

"You have one minute. If you don’t come out in one minute, we will kill you all. I’ll smash this cabin to pieces and let this garbage enter space along with you, turning into a pile of space junk," the pirate leader declared arrogantly.

"The Silver Moon Pirates—the most mysterious Pirate Gang. Whenever this Pirate Gang hijacks a Baisha Transport Ship, all the people disappear," Liu Zhijie said.

"Thirty seconds left.

"Twenty seconds left," the pirate leader yelled through the large screen.

"I have money! I have a lot of money!" someone shouted as they walked out of the old castle.

"Everyone, come out."

Just as Yang Bo and the others thought the people inside would come out and surrender, two figures suddenly dashed out of the castle. They moved at an incredible speed.

"Energy Armor! Energy Weapons!" the plump boss exclaimed in a low voice.

Indeed, the two of them looked like Warriors wearing Leather Armor from the Middle Ages. The Battle Armor on their bodies fit snugly, radiating a faint glow, and the One-Handed Swords in their hands looked as if blazing flames were burning on them.

They were extremely fast; in almost a single flash, they covered a distance of several hundred meters.

But in the next second, beams of Lasers shot out. One look at the thickness of the Lasers, and it was clear they were from a Mechanical Laser Cannon. The Mecha’s Lasers struck their Energy Armor, stalling the two of them in mid-air.

In less than a second, the two were ignited and blown apart by the Mechanical Laser Cannon. In that brief moment, the Laser Cannon had fired at least hundreds of Laser beams. This was the Power of technology.

Combined with the high-frequency Laser Cannons, how could the Energy of a human body compete against technology? Two Rank B Genetic Evolvers equipped with Energy Armor and Energy Weapons were wiped out just like that.

"These head-on combat abilities aren’t as good as supportive ones." After watching this, Yang Bo became even more certain that fighting head-to-head against things like Mechas was not the solution. He still needed some special abilities.

As Yang Bo watched, he wondered what he should do and what method he could use if he faced this kind of situation.

"Time’s up," the pirate leader, who had remained calm the entire time, shouted loudly as he checked the time.

Then, the image on the large screen shifted, showing the Pirate Battleship outside. The Laser Cannon on the warship fired a Laser beam.

The next second, a massive hole was blasted into the bottom of this wealthy person’s space that Yang Bo had envied so much. The vacuum of space generated an immense suction force, instantly pulling everything inside the cabin out into the void.

Numerous robots flew out, each carrying an escape pod on its back. People were shoved into the escape pods one by one by the robots.

The castle, the grass, and the trees were all sucked into space in an instant.

However, just as the escape pods activated their automatic modes, a Space Fighter roared past, firing beams of Lasers that directly blew them apart.

Some Genetic Evolvers opened their escape pods, but they too were blown apart in the next second. Genetic Evolvers had Energy inside their bodies, and once struck by a Laser, they would violently combust.

Meanwhile, the Pirates had Energy Armor and Mechas, so they were completely unafraid of the vacuum environment.

Yang Bo saw women, children—over a hundred and sixty people in total—just gone like that. The life-saving system of the Baisha Transport Ship was independent. Once a problem occurred in any sealed cabin, the system would shove people into escape pods before they could suffocate.

Unfortunately, escape pods had hardly any Defense against Space Fighters.

The others gasped in horror. Over a hundred people were wiped out just like that. How much wealth did those people possess? They even had Energy Weapons and Energy Armor.

"Unless we have Mechas too."

"This is definitely a conspiracy. The guards of the Baisha Transport Ship are equipped with Mechas."

"We just don’t know where the Mechas are."

"They were probably destroyed by the Pirates right at the start."

"Having Mechas wouldn’t help either. All Mechas have a key system."

"Sigh... We’re done for this time."

As everyone discussed, they watched to see what the Pirates would do next.

"Very good. Next," the pirate leader shouted coldly as he looked at the empty cabin. Aside from the glow of the screen at the top, the rest of the visible area consisted only of pitch-black Metal walls.

The Baisha Transport Ship had a honeycomb structure, similar to watertight compartments. The destruction of one cabin wouldn’t affect the others. This design was specifically to account for high-speed debris in space; a Baisha Transport Ship taking a hit was considered a minor issue.

"We are actually quite busy. Originally, we planned to destroy this Baisha Transport Ship, but someone paid to buy you all.

"Do you know why our Pirate Gang never leaves any survivors? Because they all become space junk. Maybe in a few hundred or a few thousand years, someone will discover this space junk and might even take it back to study as antiques.

"Don’t even think about a Warship coming to save you. It’s impossible. The transport ship has already changed its course. As for the guard squad you might be wondering about?

"Please, take a look..."

On the large screen, dead bodies could be seen being tossed into space one by one. By the looks of it, they were indeed wearing the uniforms of the transport ship’s staff.

"There’s definitely a mole," Liu Zhijie said, taking a deep breath.

The expressions of the crowd turned grave. The Silver Moon Pirates were truly ruthless; if the people in one area didn’t comply, they would all be slaughtered.

"Everyone, it seems we can only leave it to fate now. I will find a way to hack the system. There are places to hide on such a massive Baisha Transport Ship. Moreover, the escape pods run on an independent system, and their design inherently accounts for the threat of Warships. Actually, the survival rate is quite high," Liu Zhijie said with a deep breath.

"Boss," the others muttered, completely dumbfounded. Didn’t the boss just see what happened? What survival rate was he talking about?
