Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 2240: Heavenly River Modifications

Chapter 2240: Heavenly River Modifications

Setting off for the heavenly river floating above the Seventh Star Peak that had expanded quite a bit since it had first been created by Mui not that long ago, it didn’t take long for Mui, Song Jia and the group of elders following them to reach the surface of the heavenly river. Slowly starting to offload the things they could carry inside their interspatial rings in a somewhat isolated part of the heavenly river where Baobao resided before heading back towards the ground to pick up the things that couldn’t be carried inside their interspatial rings.

Using a small spirit boat to carry the things attempting to not stand out, something that ended up working far better than they had originally anticipated, as the elders and disciples visiting the heavenly river today happened to be especially numerous compared to previous days. Meaning the spirit boat that would have normally stood out didn’t look odd when faced with a few other similar spiritual flying artifacts and boats that were used by groups of weaker disciples who couldn’t fly up to reach the heavenly river under normal circumstances.

In fact, everything went so smoothly that Mui had one of the elders under her ask about what was happening. Learning from one of the elders controlling a spirit boat that several elders proficient in the Dao of Water had come together to arrange a special excursion for the weaker disciples to feel the heavenly river up close. Giving them an opportunity to show off their talent when it came to the Dao of Water while at the same time also serving as an easy way for the elders proficient in the Dao of Water to find suitable disciples.

In other words, it was an event put together by a few elders proficient in the Dao of Water who wanted to find disciples of their own, something Elder Song had of course been more than happy to agree with. Resulting in the spirit boat of Mui not standing out in the slightest, as those watching from below just assumed it was another spirit boat carrying disciples up for the special event.

"This... Is unexpected..." And learning about the event she had ended up unknowingly taking advantage of, Mui didn’t know what to say. Feeling somewhat sorry about what she was going to do next, as the modifications she wanted to carry out would undoubtedly cause some unrest throughout the heavenly river itself- and those disciples supported by their seniors to step onto the heavenly river or get close to it, would undoubtedly suffer.

The one positive was that with so many elders around and the cultivation of the participants ranging from the Foundation Establishment Realm to the Core Formation Realm, those disciples caught off guard by the coming unrest of the heavenly river wouldn’t die.

Worst case scenario, they would end up getting thrown off the heavenly river and get caught by an elder watching the event from the side.

In a way, the unrest of the heavenly river would also bring about an opportunity for those disciples to deepen their comprehension of the Dao of Water.

Although their cultivation was still too low for them to truly comprehend the Dao of Water, they would be able to deepen their understanding of the different water-based cultivation arts and techniques they had learnt so far. Laying down a stable foundation for them to more easily establish a water pseudo domain and later a water domain in the future when they stepped into the Peak of the Nascent Soul Realm and began attempting to advance to the Domain Lord Realm.

"Viewed in this manner, I’m not doing anything bad, I’m just helping these juniors lay down a proper foundation for stepping into the Domain Lord Realm in the future..." Quietly whispering these words to herself as she convinced herself she was doing this for their own good, Mui didn’t hesitate for a second before starting the modifications she had planned for the heavenly river.

Rumble~

And almost the second she began modifying the heavenly river, a small tremble could be felt throughout the entire heavenly river, causing the elders and disciples on top the heavenly river to pause for a brief second before an even more violent rumbling could be heard followed by the river water itself becoming more volatile-

"Aaah!? What is happening!?"

"This- The heavenly river is trembling?! Is it perhaps about to expand...?"

"Expand!? It has been slowly expanding all this time! Why would it suddenly act up like this because it’s expanding!?"

"Watch out for the waves!"

"What wave-"

Splash!"

"Ahh!? I can’t fly!"

And as the elders and disciples became aware of what was happening, they understandably began to panic as they watched some unfortunate disciples at the Foundation Establishment standing at the edge of the heavenly river getting swept off the side of the river by the rising waves.

Normally, a wave only a few meters tall wouldn’t have been enough to sweep a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator off their feet. Especially someone who had learnt the rather common water walking technique that allowed one to traverse bodies of water like one traversed land.

Unfortunately for them, the water they were standing on wasn’t normal water, but spiritual dense water that had been turned into a dao ground for the Dao of Water. Meaning it wasn’t just useful for cultivation and comprehending the Dao of Water, but was also difficult to fight against, causing these few unfortunate disciples to get swept off the edge of the heavenly river with a few elders being forced into grabbing them before they crashed into the ground.

Of course, not all the disciples standing atop the heavenly river with their elders’ assistance was that lucky, as a genius at the Core Formation Realm ended up getting swallowed by a small wave and ended up falling straight through the heavenly river. Plummeting into the Qi Spring Lake before any of the elders could reach out to grab him.

Luckily, he wasn’t harmed and only ended up a bit dazed by the experience while also making the elders close to the heavenly river focus their full attention on the remaining disciples to ensure none of them ended up in a similar situation.

As for why they didn’t just remove these younger disciples... That was because they all quickly realized how beneficial this current unrest of the heavenly river was to these younger disciples. Not only allowing them to use the turbulent environment to practice their water-based techniques but also allowing them to showcase their talents when it came to the Dao of Water by keeping themselves stable and avoid falling off the heavenly river in this kind of environment where all other kinds of techniques and skills were rendered useless by the dominant presence of the Dao of Water.

In fact, after the initial panic died down, the elders who had gathered to find suitable disciples, were overjoyed with the sudden development that gave them a far better opportunity to weed out unsuitable disciples. Leaving behind only the most excellent of disciples for them to choose from.

But... Even though the elders looking to choose disciples were overjoyed with the sudden unrest of the heavenly river, the rest of the elders along with Elder Song were less than pleased with suddenly having to catch disciples falling from the sky about to crash into their cultivation chambers.

Still, considering this was something beneficial for the disciples on the heavenly river, Elder Song ended up stopping the few elders who were about to rush forth and drag the disciples still standing on the heavenly river down before they had to catch them when they were inevitably knocked off.

And to ensure nothing went wrong, he assigned a few elders to keep an eye on a group of disciples and catch them if they fell off. Ensuring that the elders who had rushed out didn’t have to keep a constant eye out for falling disciples.

Only after all this was done did he shift his attention towards the isolated spot where Baobao lived on the heavenly river. Finding a small spirit boat anchored just above the surface of the heavenly river along with a few individuals, some of whom he was all too familiar with, working on some kind of artificial island centered on the sky spring that provided the heavenly river with the spiritually rich water that made it up.

However, the most surprising thing to Elder Song wasn’t the existence of the familiar troublemaker Mui nor his beloved granddaughter following behind her best friend. Instead, it was the fact that he spotted three elders working together with those two that caught him somewhat off guard.

To be honest, the last thing he expected to see was the elders of the sect working together with those two, but here he was. Watching two of his elders working together with Mui without any complaints.

On the contrary, they looked quite ecstatic about what they were doing...
