Chapter 4779 Raising The Hurdle?
"Father," Lucian sat straight, "You can leave most of the things in the family to us. All you need to think about is keeping the family safe from the Celestial Transcendent and the other Heaven's Warriors."
"Lucian is right, Father," Celestial nodded calmly, "We are all willing to take care of our siblings and oversee their growth. You don't need to worry about it and only move forward, carrying the family. If you are in the front, we have nothing to fear."
"Is that so?"
Davis felt a surge of strength in him as he also straightened his back.
"Then what else do I need to tell you?" He contemplated for a moment before his brows creased, "Azariel and Lucian, you two are the next cornerstones of our family. Unlike me, many people are expecting great things from you two. This expectation is hard to fulfill, so don't over-cultivate yourself to death, especially Lucian. Your cultivation might seem explosive, but it is actually delicate."
"…" Lucian displayed a wry smile, "It is indeed delicate. If I don't control it well, I'll burn up and bring a true disaster to the family. However, at my current level, it is not a problem. It would start becoming a problem after I enter the Empyrean Stage and reach the peak in it."
Davis gave an understanding nod, "Do you plan on breaking through to the Empyrean Stage as soon as we land in the Upper Realms?"
"Yes, I do. The others do too." Lucian said, causing the others to nod.
Davis couldn't help but reveal a wry smile. The day his children overtook his cultivation base actually came sooner than he expected. He imagined this would continue even to the Exalt Stage.
However, he wasn't worried since his base prowess would continue to stay stronger than anyone.
Nonetheless, he came back to the matter at hand, "Then Lucian, you should come with me. Since you're a Divergent, I'll arrange a place for you to break through to the Empyrean Stage. Perhaps, I'll go right after you're done with your tribulation."
"No!" Lucian vehemently shook his head, "The time period from the breakthrough to the end of the tribulation is very sensitive. It is the time when our enemies will sense our tribulations and gather upon us. How can I possibly take Father's breakthrough interval? It's a cardinal sin."
"It's not so serious. I do precisely need my enemies to be with me when I undergo my tribulation so that they get struck like flies. Watch me kill Exalts with a single word…"
Davis chuckled with an evil grin, causing Lucian and the others to be dumbfounded.
"Well, the only problem would be Heaven's Warriors who can intrude into a Divergent's tribulation without getting struck. However, it is not easy to travel in the Upper Realms. They are incredibly vast, so even Exalts would find it difficult to cover a distance within the time period it takes for a tribulation to start and end. Of course, they would break numerous teleportation talismans, use teleportation formations to come towards the source of the Annihilative Tribulation as fast as they can, but even then, I have a few ideas to bar them from interrupting me."
Lucian and Azariel looked at each other, unable to understand why their father would say that. As far as they know, their family barely had two Exalt Stage forces. One was Illumina and the other was Rioxys Plume. Sure, they would gain a few more upon entering the Upper Realms, but was it enough to stop those Heaven's Warriors, the Venerable Knights?
Only the Venerable Knights and Heaven's Warriors from the Divine Sentinel Order were in a state of ceasefire with the Davis Family, but the other Heaven's Warrior Organizations were free to attack them. Besides, it isn't a given that the Divine Sentinel Order would hold up their end of the deal.
"Please enlighten us, father." They cupped their hands respectfully, wanting to know what their father saw that they hadn't.
After stepping into the cultivation world, their horizons were broadened, so they knew how their father was keeping the world from besieging them. When one lived within the family, it would seem that the Davis Family was being protected by their mothers, but the one whom the world truly feared was their father.
His name and title resounded far more than the so-called infamous titles of their mothers.
After that, they learned that the Davis Family was being run by their mothers, but the one who keeps it afloat was none other than their father, who seemingly does nothing other than seclude, go out for a bit, come back, dual cultivate with his wives and seclude again.
His actions occasionally seemed frivolous and uncaring, but each action always tends to make waves within and outside the family. For one, their mothers were crazy about him, and outside, the world feared him. For how less participative he seemed in the family affairs, his palm held them all within contrarily.
It was a state they truly admired and wanted to emulate in the future.
Unaware of their hidden awe towards him, Davis raised his hand and rubbed his chin, wondering if he should tell them. He felt it might give Lucian strange ideas. Still, he opened his mouth.
"As you would expect, it wouldn't be easy to distract the Heaven's Warriors. They would already be on the lookout since they know for a fact that the secret realm would be closing in four to six months. Even if they don't expect me, they'll be expecting the other Divergents in the Davis Family to appear. Besides, we aren't the only Divergents here. I heard there were as many as two hundred and fifty, half of them killed here by the supreme geniuses. The remaining half would try to escape, and that's where they'll strike."
"While the Heaven's Warriors are busy, they certainly wouldn't leave us alone since I'm the highest priority Divergent who needs to be eliminated. They'll let go of other Divergents if it means striking my family and me first to force me out. That's the part we need to take advantage of."
"Father…" Lucian went aghast, "Are you suggesting we bait them using the other Divergents in our family?"
Davis nearly laughed. He paused for a moment, understanding his Lucian was still kind, "Silly child, I meant raising the hurdle. Can they really be focusing on us if other high-priority Divergents appeared around the Upper Realms?"
"Father means…" Azariel's brows narrowed while Lucian was embarrassed and momentarily taken aback at being called a child.
"Did you forget that I'm also the Fifth Dark Apostle of the Heavenly Blight Hall?"
"…!" Azariel and the others' eyes widened.
The elusive and terrorizing Heavenly Blight Hall that most Heaven's Warriors feared! They knew that when the Heavenly Blight Hall showed up in an era, many Heaven's Warriors would be assassinated.
Davis put a leg over the other and leaned back, wrapping his arm around Evelynn's neck as he chuckled.
"If I'm right… Mingzhi would've received word from Saintess Lunaria and also Dark Archbishop Cyprusio from the Heavenly Blight Hall for a coordinated defense agreement of some kind. Perhaps, the Heavenly Blight Hall is even looking to strike back at this crucial window."
"Hss~" Azariel sucked in a cold breath.
Davis's expression turned solemn, "The leader of the Heavenly Blight Hall would likely appear on the surface soon. As for Saintess Lunaria's group, her first disciple, Qiyra Darkstar, is most likely a powerful Peak-Level Exalt!"
He guessed that both of them could likely be Omega Exalts like the Venerable Knights! Furthermore, he even guessed the leader of the Heavenly Blight Hall possessed an Empyrean Grade or Exalt Grade Treasure, a replica of the Space-Time Quintessence Ring!
With these two, Davis wanted to cooperate, and he imagined they would also be thinking the same after knowing his potential and the importance Heaven's Warriors placed on him.
